So the other day I was trying to remember a bl game that was canceled and thought it might have been NWO, but I think the one I was thinking about was Heimskringla which I vaguely remember being announced at the same time as NWO and 24-ku.

I haven’t played Hashihime yet, but that totally does sound moe. The description you give of him being a mix of chuuni + vulnerability + instability + an inappropriate sense of doing something greater than what he’s actually doing lines right up with the Underground Man from Notes from Underground. When I was reading Notes from Underground, I both empathized with the Underground Man’s spaghetti-spilling and alienation and was fascinated with just how pathetic he was. Maybe part of the appeal of pathetic characters is being able to relate with them, but I’d rather not think too hard about that.

I myself don’t know why I like these types of characters so much, but I’ve done so for a long time. Something about that mix of creepiness with the right amount of patheticness is extremely endearing to me. I should dislike them or outright despise them by all means, but there’s just a special kind of beauty in how horribly flawed they are that I can’t take my eyes off of. I guess it’s just moe.

I knew I was forgetting someone when I made that post, Shinji hits the exact spot for those kinds of mook-like pathetic characters that are moe in their own way. I’m not too into Type-Moon, but I was pretty shocked when I first found out that Shinji had a small but dedicated group of fans. There’s another character that I can recall from another eroge, Swan Song, that has these unpleasant + pathetic qualities (the latter especially) but I haven’t seen many people actually like him as they would with a character like Shinji or Adachi, probably because he’s very unfortunate looking (the other anon talking about character attractiveness is probably right here). I found the main protagonist of Swan Song to actually be really nice with his emotionless exterior contrasting with him being the character who clung onto living the most. Extremely memorable main character. I’m getting too off-topic here as well, so I’ll just end it off by asking: more gap moe autist boys when?

Majo no Shokeibi is definitely something.

Like, listen, I'm no stranger to cum drinking, but an entire jar of old nut? And he thinks it's his 愛の結晶? He's so into this that it's just tragic. It's so twisted and he thinks it's the best thing in the world. I felt slightly nauseous (rare occurrence) because I unconsciously started to imagine the taste, but that kind of heightened the effect of my being disgusted so all I could do was laugh. There have been a lot of disgusted laughter moments, actually. It's really fun, and I could never possibly explain why to other people. Also, the faces the main guy makes are really the cherry on top. Maybe キモ萌え is a good name for all of this.

I'm interested in seeing where else this goes, because I've been playing for a while and not that much has even happened yet.

Also what was said here >>25391682 regarding the appeal pf pathetic characters, I've come to the realization after much thought that I like them because I can look down on them. It's highly cathartic. But I'm also a dyed-in-the-wool S, so this is not surprising in the least.

Yeah, that scene was probably the one of the few that left me thinking "did they really just go there...?". There are a lot of other scenes in the second part and in some of the side stories that really cemented him as being awful, but in a way that I can't stop staring. I'm usually a M, but seeing him made me want to punch his smug face in. Yet, I couldn't help but like him just for how ridiculous the shit he constantly pulled was. Plus, it's pretty cute when he spills his spaghetti around his boss and starts acting obsequious. He is peak キモ萌え.

Unfortunately, the game is only the first part of an incomplete 2-part series full part two never ;_; so you might get blueballed if you keep your expectations too high for shit happening and having all your questions answered. But a lot of shit DOES go down later, after a series of comfy character interactions. I felt a constant sense of dread while reading knowing that the characters would have to suffer in some way later.

Old isekai actually had independent fantasy worlds, fish-out-of-water characters with related hurdles to overcome, and more traditional fantasy stories based in common literature tropes. Modern Isekai are video-game based derivative garbage that are basically an excuse to have multiple fantasy fetish races lust over the milquetoast MC. Basically the replacement for battle harems that dominated the mid-10's.

I don't play very many games like this that advertise a creepy or domineering male lead. Aside from a disinterest in being put in the role of a do-M protag, the male leads tend to be suave or kichiku megane or powerful CEO or whatever. Really boring, and they're made to be rock solid and have no vulnerability because all of that gets shoved onto the player. 3 had ongoing or complete English translations, the rest are parade games which still took years to get released.
As for their otome titles, 2 are obscure r18 games, 2 are by the genius writer Yuma, whose character are walking cliches in the best case, in the worst case they don't even act like humans even by anime or shoujo manga standards. Yumas' main characters are retards, in the case with steam prison it's even worse, you get an obnoxious piece of shit you dislike.
Hashihime and LD1 are good and parade games have their "straight guys sucking dicks and feeling bad about it audience" but none of the suggested choices anyone actually wanted got licensed.

I think MG takes a look at what gets requested and then licenses something similar enough from their partners; I'm pretty sure that's why we got Ozmafia from Hobibox. Not sure how they stumbled into Steam Prison, or even how they managed to release that game so fast. I don't quite get the Kalmia8 titles either, but they were probably very cheap to license and Kalmia8 seems eager to have their titles in English.

So there's definitely something about this game that makes it hate text hookers. While initially I thought VNR's standard threads, the black ones, would be fine I found out that both have chunks of the text missing. I had to look around for a custom hook code and the red thread fb5e is the only one that has the complete text, but it won't display unless the text setting window is open and upon restarting VNR it just deletes the entire game entry on your springboard cause the game isn't in the database, so you have to re-add the game and enter the hook code again each time you start it up. Can't help but wonder what it would be like with newer games cause I'd like to play ultraC at launch. Oh well. At least now that I got it working it's relatively smooth. The language doesn't seem to be too difficult outside of specific terms like 'economic growth'.

In Octave it makes sense that they look like crap since it's literally mobage tier and Kure wasn't the artist behind it. However, nips are right. Vita ports' covers are shit. They don't have comfy spatial distribution and the characters look different from classic PS2/PSP covers.
