There are no giant robots in Muv Luv you dumbass. Alternative is the mecha one. FFS. You could have voted for Baldr Sky, that's mecha.

>> No.2517227

Muv-Luv kicks ass. it's not the greatest story ever, but it's an experience that you can't get with any other VN. It's the summer big-budget blockbuster of VNs -- indeed it plays (or reads as you have no choices) often like a Hollywood action film. It has mecha, gore, militarism, aliens, combat, cool hardaware and technobable and a huge, giganormous plot. There's nothing artistically memorable about this Gundam x StarCraft crossover, but it kicks your ass with the awesomeness of big guns shooting big-ass alien bugs in high-budget animated fidelity. That's Alternative -- the first game is pretty average shoolyard fare, the second part of the first game is pretty much the same, except you're being introduced to the sci-fi world and it takes place on a base campus as opposed to a schoolyard.

>We can´t let Muv-luv win. Everybody go vote Gore Screaming Show or Cross Channel.

If you think CC or GSS actually competes with Muv-Luv (yes, both of them as you can't play Alternative without playing Extra/Unlimited first) you just need to get out and play more VNs. Jesus Christ.

However, with that beign said, no one, NO ONE who isn't being paid is going to devote so much of their life to doing Muv-Luv. All of the parts are so massive it would be like transcribing War and Peace or something. At least with Sharin no Kuni and G-Senjeou they are actually manageable in length. And with Sharin no Kuni the first chapter has already been translated.
http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Sharin_no_Kuni

Also, while I don't consider Sharin no Kuni better than G-Senjou, it does have one of Emperor Wakamoto's best roles as the despotic superior of the male protagonist. Check out some of this scenes:

Most FAST translators wouldn't touch Muv Luv because it's incredibly big. I think you guys should vote Muv Luv just because there won't be many chances to see this translated and it's a good game. There may be other chances for Cross Channel, but I doubt there will be for Muv Luv.

P.S.: Stop worrying about lack of tools for Muv Luv, I'm sure someone will get something workable.

I would still rather see Sharin, Gore , Devil and Cross Channel translated.

btw, tell us something about Muv-Luv because most here only know about Alternative

Muv-Luv is best described as being two games, although there are technically 3. The first game is split into 2 parts, the first part being a standard schoolyard romance comedy. I found this just barely average, although the Age budget certainly helps. The second part is when you get transported to the sci-fi world, and it re-treads the setup of the first part, except that instead of a schoolyard, it's a military base, and instead of playing games and having cooking contests, you are having sirvival camps and weapons training. The BETA do not appear at all, it seems to be one big orientation game for the sci-fi world. The second game is Alternative (technically the third) that actually starts the war story.

Also, for having such a large cast of well-drawn girls in skintight outfits -- it's amazing how few of them actually did anything for me. I has was hot for Meia's sister, and I SOOOOO couldn't wait to sleep woth her...until you realize there is NO H in this game at all EXCEPT for one bizarre scene, so it can;t be called an all-ages game, either, which frankly baffled the fuck out of me. Why have some random, frankly meanigless H scene out of the blue but then not give you a chance to fuck the one or two hot female characters? Super fail.

Cross Channel is simply better than Muv-Luv. I would want that more even if there weren't any difficulties in hacking Muv-Luv.

How are some of you able to say Eroge A > Eroge B? Is everyone just using erogamescape to determine which is actually better or actually played all of the games that are mentioned at ixrec's forum?

If the latter is the case, I don't really understand why you'd want anything translated if you already played it. Unless you were using ATLAS+AGTH to read it.

So what's the story of Cross Channel and why is it good?

>> No.2522957

Cross Channel was good but it lacked a little something for me.
Kiri's arcs was the best thing in it, really poignant, the story was really great when it focused on Taichi's psyche too but the other arcs were really not that great.
The ending was awesome though.
But in the same genre I found SWAN SONG to be better.

But Muv-Luv is a pretty different experience, much more "physical" compared to CC.
The story, characters, comedy, drama and setting are all very endearing, it's one of the few eroge that really absorb you.
But the problem is that to get the full experience, you have to play Alternative.
It's worth it though, the last few hours or so of Alt are pretty much the best thing I've seen in this media.

It's a lot more than using erogamescape - simply by observing the eroge landscape, reading about VNs, reading other people's reactions to them as well as correlating information you know about them you can generally get a pretty good idea if one eroge is better than another.

For example, here's two eroges I have not played:
- GIGA's Chocolat
- Pulltop's Yunohana

They have very close scores on EGS, but simply by collecting information about the games, reading about Chocolat's annoying minigames, considering other titles by the same staff that I've read, reading about the plots etc., looking at the graphics I can determine that, based on my own preferences, I would probably like Yunohana better than Chocolat. Muv-Luv vs Cross Channel is the same, except multiplied by roughly a MILLION because the difference in quality between them is that much greater, and accordingly so is the circumstantial evidence I use to determine which title I'm likely to enjoy more.

But, in this case, I have played them both and I simply did not like Muv-Luv. It's not my kind of game.

But I don't know why you guys are arguing about Cross Channel vs Muv-Luv when there's Sharin no Kuni in that list.
CC and Muv-Luv may be good but they are no Sharin (Alternative is another story though).

>> No.2522996

I don't get why everyone seems to like Cross Channel so much. All vndb says is:

Gunjo Gakuen (Deep Blue School) is a facility designed to gather and isolate those students who got a high score on an adaptation exam (Scoring high on this exam indicates that the student is less likely to be able to be adapted to the society) mandated by the government.

After a failed summer vacation with other members of the school's broadcasting club, Taichi Kurosu and some of the other club members return to the city, only to find that all living creatures within it except for the club members have completely vanished. In order to confirm the status of the outside world, Taichi decides to gather other club members to help Misato Miyasumi, the president of the broadcasting club, who is trying to set up a broadcasting antenna to contact any possible survivors. However, Taichi soon discovers that the world is actually repeating the week after they found the others vanished…

Throws in a few tags like: Psychological problems, Time loop, High School, Modern Day Japan Child abuse and Reverse Rape then points you to Wikipedia saying the main character calls himself Hentai the Great and that it's by the same guy who did Yume Miru Kusuri, which wasn't as great as everyone says anyway.

Yes, thank you. Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujou (Cog of the Nation, Girl of the Sunflowers), like Alternative, is a totally different experience in VNs. The story is so compelling and memorable, and it's not a stupid comedy but a psychological action-drama in which you play a very strong male protagonist; playing Keiichi would be like playing Tomitake in Higurashi, except that Keiichi could kick Tomitake's ass. He's not a indescsive love-ignorant dolt either (love how he hits on Touka in the opening scene, and then is all "lol, of course" when she reacts just the way he thought she would). And then when the teacher tries to bully him with a tough question, he's all like "lol dumb bitch I troll u"). He's a male protagonist who can actually answer the question "what do they SEE in this guy?" And then there's best antagonist ever in a VN, and Wakamoto's best role in my opinion. The girls themselves range from above-average to great. Story goes from gritty, dark, to the final victory of love after a long, brutal struggle with overwhelming opposing forces. Just the way I like it.

Whereas Alternative has many cool mements in action sequences, Sharin no Kuni has cool moments in dialogue and character interactions. Like when Houzeki reads the army manual for killing a person with a knife, and Keiichi flips out. Or the whole dungeon scene. Or Hinata's courageous, totally unexpected save after being psychologically tortured.

I would say G-Senjou is better overall than Sharin. I actually got edge-of-my-seat sense of excitement with G-Senjou, whereas Sharin was more intellectual. But music and art was better, the girls were mostly better, including the best heroine in a VN ever. The weakness of the game though is that it's nothing without Haru and the Maou. I would always sit up and pay attention when Maou's music would start playing, because something awesome was about to happen.
