Just finished Reflection Blue. Did anyone else read all of Summer Pockets for the first time with this release? It had a lot of flaws but every route was still a solid experience and the island was pretty well developed and immersive as a setting.

I've played Kiminozo, MuvLuv, MLA, and Anonymous and I liked all of them. I think ML/A is a good enough game that I don't have to tell you to retemper your expectations after being persuaded by suspected memers but I'll say that there is a lot of non mecha and only sorta chuuni and perhaps you could say anti chuuni stuff before there's any cool robots doing cool robot things. But if that other kind of stuff isn't an issue and you actually want it without the parody and with the genuine melodrama then play Kiminozo too, if not only for the shared setting, characters, and themes it has with ML. Anonymous is a decent thriller. I only got through half of it but it was good enough that I definitely want to go back and finish it, someday.

I follow some VN artists, writers, seiyuu and playes on twitter and constantly get a bunch of vtuber stuff, and Giga is also looking into getting their own vtuber for promotions, so I'd say yes, the demographics match to some degree.
Whether they're teenagers or not I can say, but consider that vtubers make a lot of their money from stream donations and selling overpriced merch, I doubt they could survive entirely with just a teenager audience, just like eroge might appeal to teenagers but it still needs whales buying all the limited editions and getting all the tokuten.

It's not just knowing details of the plot, it's about how you came to know them. I think most people who aren't impatient and are intelligent enough to understand the concept of delayed payoff would enjoy coming to know those details more from the primary source and in the way the author intended rather than hearing it from a blurty autist's mouth or catching sight of it unceremoniously catalogued on some webpage. Anticipation, surprise, buildup and payoff are valid emotive vehicles and spoilers spoil them.

There are a few games out there I wouldn't really want spoiled, but in general I like knowing the main twist of anything beforehand, so that I can properly evaluate how the game arrives at that point and foreshadows it in the parts leading up to it. I don't like letting a base, mostly emotional response to an "omg epic twist" control my opinion, basically, so for games that have some huge twist I'd actually prefer to know about it beforehand, I suppose.

Well anyway my approach to eroge is probably quite different from most people's since for most games I'm actively analyzing their approach to everything and how well they accomplish what they're trying to do, so knowing details of the plot ahead of time is beneficial on the whole for me, I guess.

Why are you so afraid of being "manipulated" by a twist. A well executed "epic twist" is a fun surprise, and if it's a shitty twist it will either be obvious after the initial surprise or their won't be much impact at all because it sucked. Most games can't help themselves from making the twist obvious long before it's revealed anyway. It's easier to know if a twist works if you're experiencing it the way the author intended instead of expecting it beforehand. There's not really a reason you need to know the twist is coming to analyze it. A better reason to want to know a twist would be not to get fucked by sudden genre shift into something you don't like, but that's rather rare.

I don't rate the stuff I read, or make any lists with orders, so I can't do that. Makes little sense with eroge, seeing how often routes are of vastly different quality and/or I don't even read them all. (Not necessarily because it's shit, but because a single route was all I needed and/or wanted)

So, considering only eroge and without any particular order, some things I liked well enough:

-Fake Azure Arcology (main)
-few daito routes (kouhai)
-Inganock
-tojita sekai

Just a few that come to mind from looking through my screens, though there's obviously more.
If we talk ero eroge (where ero is a real part of it, because it's not like those previous ones would be that much worse off without it)
- Some Astronauts stuff like Adebana or a very positive surprise from Hyakki Ryouran
-kimi no karada wa Uso o Tsuku (Karen)


That said, taste is always subjective. Extra really made me dislike a lot of its characters, and if I didn't yet, Unlimited made sure I did. I'll never forget the mountain evacuation mission with Meiya. I usually don't truly hate fictional characters, but damn did I get close there. It's not really the character's fault in itself, I guess, more the writing and me being so very much disagreeing with literally everything the protag does.

There are so many games available nowadays that I really see no need to complete any of them. They just don't deserve it. Also, I don't have the completionists' autism that would force me to 100% the gallery and such, so I will rather read 4 best girls' routes in 4 VNs than the best route + 3 meh routes in one VN.
Generally I do some research and choose the best girl while searching for the next VN to read (or while reading the trial), then try to grab her on my own and if I somehow end up with another girl, I'll try to finish her route regardless - but the next time I'll do the one I wanted originally even if it means I'll have to use a walkthrough because spending any more time on the given VN is most likely not worth it.

TL;DR: take the best the game has to offer, then repeat with another game

1.8 Rance VI - Zeth Houkai - The gameplay is completely frustrating, confusing and menial.

2 Coμ - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku - Honestly, I was just fucking confused while reading this. The VN gave no context to anything whatsoever, the situations it throws the reader into is just perplexing and the MC is just so asinine with his inner thoughts. 3 Chaos;Child - The fact that a group of high schooler are somehow able to know so much about the deaths that happened and are spending so much time emticulouly investigating them is very confusing at a conceptual level.

3 Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~ - A mindfuck, in a terrible way. Every single scene is confusing in a way that the reader does not know what is going on.

3.5 Dra†KoI - Insufferably boring. Prose are written in a very pretentious and confusing style

3.7 Kamidori Alchemy Meister - If I want to play a good SRPG, I would just play Fire Emblem, not this. The battle system and menus are confusing

3.8 Kikokugai - The Cyber Slayer - All the cyber stuff in general seems kind of weird and confusing, with no real grounding

6.7 Grisaia no Kajitsu -Le Fruit de la Grisaia- Yuuji is a solid MC but his actions can become confusing as they are inconsistent with his character.

I've been wondering for a couple of days while reading Shizuku route in Sakuuta.
How can you say something is good or/and give it 10 or 9 if
a) this is not a moege
and
b) pretty much about 60-70% of vn is fucking sucks and mostly boring SoL (and not, i'm not saying every SoL is boring by default) with terrible jokes, but suddenly getting much better towards the end.

Actually enjoying a whole fucking lot Shizuku route, but again most of sakuuta is pretty bad except Rin route and some parts of Rina.

This is fucking frustrating, why do i need to waste so much time on shitty parts in GOOOD vn? Ctrl is not an option, because why would i bother with something in first place, if i want to outright ctrl it.

It's actually easier to rate something higher if it's a moege with true route (for example kinkoi) when you have no expectations toward routes until true route, so you actually enjoy whole thing.

I read WA2 and Subahibi in Chinese way back in the day. I haven't revisited them in detail after learning nip but they felt fine at the time. Not perfect, but fine.
As for general quality, I haven't touched Chinese translations in years now but I hear it heavily depends on the group involved. Some are notorious MTL groups and some are okay. Like the others said it's better to ask an actual Chinese forum.
As for "famous" vns with Chinese translations and no English, off the top of my head, Rance X got an official Chinese patch a little while back, SakuUta was finished as a one man project earlier this year, and as mentioned WA2 has been done since forever. No clue on their quality though I just know they exist.

Hard to measure. Watching a shitload of anime laid the groundwork, then I took 6 courses in uni for easy credits and formalized my grammar during them, and just used intuition for memorizing vocab. I'm a native chink so kanji came easy. Never opened anki or whatever the fuck people use in my life.
