So how did Type Moon stuff get so popular in the western fandom anyways? I keep hearing /jp/ saying that there are better shit out there but most of our VN discussions is Type Moon stuff. What is it that it appeals so much?

Being one of the biggest hits in Japan, for one.

The same way idol master is popular.
The japs have it as popular so in turn the western culture bandwagons behind it then starts believe it actually is good. Mindless sheep action.

Bleach and Naruto are also big hits in Japan.

Because it has a story and setting that appeals to a wide audience.

Lots of people like magic, high fantasy and such.

It being translated also helps too, I think.

I feel like I should have some opinion here, given my sobriquet, but I can't come up with anything.

I really like Akiha, though, and she's a Type Moon character.

>> No.2483017

Because it's at least fairly good, easy to get into, has a good art style compared to many popular VNs (lol Key), and it has fightan/powerlevels and everyone just loves that.

The same way America's most well known movies aren't the best american movies.

Bleach and naruto are also big hits here. See where I'm going with this?

I never said anything about it being justified.

>> No.2483044

Because it'd mainstream.

As far as translated titles go Type-Moon stuff is some of the best, and Tsukihime was one of the first major fan translation projects so it had the time and hype to build up a following.
