Hey /jp/, do you have any idea where I could find a set of uncirculated Japanese coins? Just the six that are still in circulation. 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 yen denominations.

I'm aware this isn't a great place to ask this sort of question, but /trv/ is even less related.

A post office?

A... Japanese post office? I'm in Canada, presently, so that could be difficult.

Japan Mint puts out a new set every year. The 2007s and 2008s are easy to find, the 2009s don't seem to have made it across the pond yet. Pity, this year's seasonal theme is very nice.

Go to one and ask if they convert currency. Ask for yen for your coin collection. They may redirect you to another, but one of them nearby will.

You could try eBay maybe.

Banks. Before I left for my summer trip to Japan, I went over to B of A to exchange my dollars to yen. The receptionist asked what denominations I wanted my yen in and how many and what coins also.

I guess she's licking Alice's tears.... not entirely sure why she'd be doing that, but japanese fanartists can draw whatever they feel like I say.
