to those who actually are familiar with Japanese, I need your help settling an argument.

My roommate says my ”い” are atrocious and look like こ .
<- see sample.

I would like your opinions.

>> No.2463567

Your handwriting in general is awful.
Practice more.

Your roommate is right.

WARUKUNAKO "KO" YO.
OOKIKO KOE wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

He's right.

I'm worried about my いs looking too much like my りs, personally.

>> No.2463628

your handwriting sucks

what's hard about it? just do the strokes. do it like you are a samurai from the 1500s. or like mikami from death note, that is something you guys would know.

0/10

I think you lack discipline and order.
Get Minna no Nihongo and practice with the square things. Limit yourself to the given lines and practice, practice as if there was no tomorrow.

Because, look at it. It lacks order and sense.

Your 声 is plain wrong, too. You put a 土 on top when it's really supposed to be a 士. You won't be able to look stuff up efficiently if you can't tell radicals apart.

Good to see there's still someone with worse handwriting than me.

btw you don't need two いs

Your handwriting sucks balls. First try writing in a straight line. This looks like the scribblings of a first grader.

Also your い totally looks like こ. The line on the right should not be on top.

i've seen kindergarteners with better handwriting than you

it's not that bad
op just needs a little practice with his い and koe
it's impressive enough that he's writing kanji of that level while fucking up his hiragana

>> No.2463836

Your い is tilted at a 90 degree angle.
Practice writing. You write worse than a 4 year old.

>> No.2463843

The balance is off. Look at your ookii and try to line the first stroke of the i with the ki, then make the second stroke parallel. That's the best advice I can give.

>>it's impressive enough that he's writing kanji of that level while fucking up his hiragana

i can write more than 1500 kanji pretty well and don't know the kanas all that well

there's no need until I'm done with heisig

is it even possible to learn 3 similar languages at the same time without getting them all completely muddled up?

>> No.2463950

>>2463927
No, I'm not saying don't learn a language if you're not going to "properly use it". I learned Japanese so I can play eroge as well.

I'm saying learning to write is a waste of effort and I can't see much use in it. I can read almost everything I see but I can write less than 100 kanji.

How's this? I was never taught how to write correctly. I hold the pen hooked under the first joint of my thumb, and I hold my arm rigid and move only my fingers. This is extremely painful, and recently I have been investigating better methods as the pain is limiting my Japanese learning progress.

"Correct technique" is using the arm and shoulder muscles to write. I'm not convinced this allows the precision needed to write complicated kanji. I do intend to at least learn correct grip, as this greatly reduces the pain.

Your ”い” are atrocious and look like こ

>>I hold the pen hooked under the first joint of my thumb, and I hold my arm rigid and move only my fingers.

I thought this is what everyone does. What is "correct grip"?

>> No.2464032

>>2464029
Holding the pen between the pads of the first finger and thumb, resting it on the end section of the middle finger.

>> No.2464049

>>2464016
You can see that as the grip/technique improves, the text becomes lighter. The reduction in pain is probably because of a reduction in pressure on the paper. But the legibility also decreases. Which writings do you consider legible?

your い is shit and your 声 is even fucked up

What if my grip is wrong and my handwriting is bad too? It's alright if I concentrate, but...

At least it's not as horrible as OP's.

>> No.2464112

>>2464091
The only reason I care is because I think handwriting Japanese helps me remember it. It doesn't need to be perfect, but it does need to be legible, fast and painless. If your incorrect grip isn't hurting you then I don't think it matters.

>> No.2464113

if you don't have lined paper its best to write vertically from the right side. also try graph paper to practice the kanji.
