The taoist seems the better option they live in senkai that's is like a different place apart from gensokyo so you will be safe from any youkai it would be good if you befriend all of the taoist and you will be protected and what I would do will be training so I can travel thru gensokyo without fear

The best thing you could do will be becoming an oni is said that the methods of oni hunting are long forgotten so you will be technically invincible youkais won't attack you humans will fear you and you would be partying everyday is like the best thing you can do

You will be a chad and

And onis doesn't need human flesh to survive you can only eat regular animal meat and drink a lot of sake

Yes but dont anger her you can stay party rocking in former hell and nothing bad will happen and onis are still hard to kill so you can run away and as I said onis doesn't need to eat human flesh the only one that it was known to eat humans was kasen and she stopped doing it so being an oni is the best thing you can do

Also onis dont lie do traps or cheat, so you being human and becoming a oni you will still be able to lie and cheat and do traps and also being really fucking strong is the best thing a win win situation

You will be probably the smartest oni so that's a lot of reputation in the oni village too

>(How) would you seek to gain power?
Nope. No interest in being powerful. Just comfortable.

>Where would you want to live?
The most realistic option is the Scarlet Devil Mansion - One of the most intriguing things to consider in my case is that my Japanese is borderline nonexistent and unless magical fantasy land fixes that, knocking on the SDM's door and asking to be taught the local language in exchange for a period of service or whatever other compensation Remilia wants would be my best bet. If that winds up with me as vampire food instead, so be it, there are worse ways to go.

Even without that consideration, the SDM would still be a strong consideration for me because I like Remilia, Patchouli, Sakuya and Flan more than most casts/households in Gensokyo. But pretty much anywhere with a population of more than 1 or 2 named characters that isn't the Village (Boring) or the Forest Of Magic (Not really my style) would be fun. Eientei, any of the religious communities, Chireiden, etc. Not really into the solitary hermit life, though.

>Who would you like to befriend?
Anybody/everybody. Certainly beats pissing them off.

>What do you generally plan to do?
Live the comfortable slow-paced life, get a front row seat to any incidents that occur. Just chill and occasionally mingle with 2hus that aren't living in the same general area as me whenever there's a reason to (Such as a party at the Hakurei Shrine).

until i find safety i will follow all the rules of being "spirited away" i know of european fae things, which is basically "talk to no one" and "don't eat or do anything that you cannot be very certain of the outcome." i certainly am not going to go to any youkai for help
>what you do too survive the first week if you dont find help
i mean even outside of gensokyo the answer would be "die" because i'm not a farmer nor experienced in survivalist training. any human would be wise to seek the company of other humans - youkai are monsters and should be killed if possible and avoided if not

Survive, learn magic, eventually try to find some way to achieve immortality without the elixir or being a youkai like marisa seems to be trying to do, if that fails go magician route of elixir route.

She IS stated to really not like humans, or at least be a major threat to humans if they meet her. I think the way a youkai behaves in the village as opposed to out of it is pretty different. But yeah, actually starting a friendship would be important. I just don't think that, based of all her speaking appearances, she would allow a random human who showed up near her or her garden to live. I'm sure there's an interesting anthropological study to be made on Touhou's resemblance to a polytheistic religion not only in content, but also in practice. For example, much of the Ancient Greek hymns were derivative works of Homer's plays that could be enjoyed by those who had never experienced the source material, making them not too dissimilar from today's doujin works.

If one were to hypothetically get sucked into Gensokyo, what would you have to do in order to develop a firearm from scratch?
Even assuming you had enough technical knowledge, you would still need to do a lot of networking to get the necessary materials, networking with people that have no reason to not kill you.
I'm going to spit out a couple necessary steps / random ideas
>you would need to find three large pieces of granite or iron in order to develop a perfectly level surface plate as a foundation for precision measurement, beginning with a straight edge
>you would need to develop an arbitrary system of distance units
>Rinnosuke, Nitori, and other people that are curious about items from the outside world probably have something that was made with screws. The screw threads could be used as reference for developing unit measurements
>Although you can never be too wary, I assume youkai like Nitori wouldn't kill an outside human if they have technical knowledge
>a compass for making relatively perfect circles should be easy to create, once you have a straight edge and a compass there is a plethora of things you can do with them such as construction of perfect angles and polygons
>you could also make an arbitrary measurement system from the compass and surface plate; assuming you can make a perfect wheel out of some material (I can't think of a way to be certain about how circular it is beyond eyeballing it, as we don't have a lathe yet) you can mark a point on the wheel and roll it across your straight edge, marking the point of contact on the straight edge will turn it into a ruler
>if you want smaller units of measurement, you use the straight edge to draw a line from that point through the center of the wheel, then use the straight edge and compass to construct a perpendicular bisector so there are now four 90 degree angles in the center of the wheel and four points on the circumference, any angle can be bisected with a straight edge and compass so you can continue doubling the amount of points on the outside of the wheel, therefore doubling the amount of units on your ruler
>the Scarlet Devil Mansion has a clock tower and Sakuya has a pocket watch, if you can approach without getting killed it would be worth investigating where and how the gears for those were created
>Alice stuffs some of her dolls with gunpowder, you need to befriend her somehow (you can probably only do this by befriending Marisa first) so that you can find out where she gets gunpowder
>although you will never be able to make anything as advanced as a modern weapon you can incorporate rudimentary magic into your designs (for example, you could bypass the need for a trigger or a primer mechanism by using some kind of fire magic to ignite the powder)
Not to mention you would need to find somewhere to live and a way to get food on the table during all of this.
If you have any ideas on how we could develop a lathe I'd love to hear, by the way I'm quoting myself

>> No.24708273

>>24707740
I don't think anyone could get a hold on a large electric motor, internal combustion engine, or steam engine in Gensokyo. I think that the only forms of power available for a lathe would be water power, and animal power. The British used an early lathe made by Jan Verbruggen in the late 18th century as a boring machine to create more accurate cannons. I think that a similar machine would be feasible with the resources available in Gensokyo. Apparently though, this lathe is only "technically" a lathe, and really had no applications besides creating objects such as cannons. I don't know accurate it was as well, or how to make an accurate lathe at all.

Apparently gunpowder could be made from human urine by leaving it in straw for months, until saltpeter could be extracted and used.

You can make gunpowder fairly easy.

Softwood charcoal, sulfur, and a nitrate salt at 12.5, 12.5, and 75% by weight. You can estimate this with a balance easily- use a distinct-looking rock as your weight. One rock, one rock, eight rocks' worth. You may have problems making or getting nitrate, but the villagers may trade it to you.

Failing trade, you can make it thru a variety of methods.

Grinding it finely will help but your best bet is wet milling- which you can do with river stones in a cask and a creek. From there granulate it thru a mesh, which is hard to make but a size about the texture of kosher salt is around the right particle size for a gun's black powder will work.

A fuse can be made with rice straw filled with gunpowder, and sealed/coated with lacquer, wax or tar to prevent the powder from getting wet.

TL;DR if you can make bread from wheat you can make gunpowder.

I've thought about this quite a bit. Fair warning.

At some point in the very late 2020's or early-mid 2030's, I'm living in Japan, nearish to Kyoto; through a coworker/friend, I end up at the Old Adam and eventually as a member of the Secret Sealing Club. Given the nature of my job and my experiences I end up "scouting out" Gensokyo with Maribel, Renko, and various other club members. Slowly we become more acquainted with the "other worlds" (Gensokyo, Lunar Kingdom, and other realms elsewhere similar to Gensokyo) and become amateur magicians of sorts through using magical objects we find. After a series of events, a catalyst occurs that leads Maribel to unlock her true powers and "become" Yukari, though this event "tears" the rest of the club members through time and space, scattered and lost.

I end up sent back only about a decade and a half back in time but nowhere different in space, so now or recent past/near future somewhere in Gensokyo. I then find myself essentially battling my way through the forest, looking for shelter from low-tier youkai but overrun. Beaten up and exhausted I stumble upon the SDM, reach the mansion uncontested and collapse. Luckily for me I'm not chopped up and eaten or turned to mush; instead I'm taken into a guest room, stitched up a bit, and allowed to rest.

Coincidentally, a slightly more matured Remilia, only a few days before, had asked a favor of Yukari: to find her a potentially suitable husband, preferably a "knight" (given my irl career it wouldn't be too much of a stretch). Given the nature of the mansion I consider trying to escape but eventually decide against it after being "convinced" otherwise by my primary caretaker, Sakuya. I soonafter meet Remilia, who pretended to be a caretaker but obviously wasn't, and she explains where I am, who everyone is, etc., while I describe my own background. We find common ground and bond, regardless of the 500ish year age gap, and it isn't until several months later that it's found that I am, in fact, not the suitor Remilia ordered when an actual knight in shining armor shows up one day. Regardless we marry and I spend the next several years travelling the world(s) with her and studying extensively under Patchouli. A shitload more happens after this, including a number of wars inside and outside of Gensokyo and remi becoming the vampire empress, but I think that's enough autism for now.

tl;dr I go to Japan, join the Secret Sealing Club, shit goes down and I end up in Gensokyo. I'm extremely lucky and end up a permanent resident of the SDM. You asked.

How easy would it be to bluff or lie to get out of a dangerous situation with a youkai? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it against the rules for youkai to eat humans from the village? If someone was gapped in the middle of some forest, and Rumia showed up and was going to attack them, could they lie and pretend to be from the village? Could they fool Rumia by saying something like they are wearing clothes from the outside world that they bought from Kourindou, but they are still a villager? Maybe if someone had meta knowledge they could namedrop certain people to convince the youkai assailant that they are from Gensokyo.

I've also fantasized about being Maribel. I've taken her future many different ways. Perhaps Maribel becomes Yukari, and 'creates' Gensokyo after traveling in time, and maybe Renko becomes the first Hakurei Maiden, or the mother of her. Perhaps Maribel marrys a man in the outside world and has a child. Perhaps that child is Yukari, who laters grows to be far more powerful than myself.

In most of my fantasies, I dream of marrying and having a peaceful happy family...

And? Being or not being a escapists does not change the fact that most of them die. I don't know how you can look at a place with a at least over 50% morality rate for anybody that visits and think "Escapist fantasy". It totally does. They never wanted to be there in the first place so it's not a fantasy for them.
If they fucking lie on the ground and accept death of course they're going to die because they were never meant to be there. If you're pulled into an unknown world completely by accident of course you're going to have a high chance of death. But if you want to be there and know where you're going that's a different story. Many of the people currently living in Gensokyo are escapists, who decided to leave the outside world because it was no longer fit for them and knew where they were going.

Not a fantasy I've had but I just had a dream a few days ago about Gensokyo in a thousand years. It looked like an apocalyptic shithole. While I was rummaging around trying to find out what place I'm in, I met Remilia & Meiling. Remilia was dirty & had long jagged nails on both her hands & feet. Meiling's clothes were ragged but she wasn't as dirty as Remi.
Sakuya hasn't been taking care of Remi because Sakuya has been dead for a thousand years, Flandre was also apparently dead, & Patchouli was either gone or went somewhere else. Presumably also dead.

Both of them asked me if I know any supply cache or would do a job for them in exchange of payment. I accepted their quest but I woke up before I could ever finish their request. So they're still probably starving somewhere in Shitsokyo.

Gensōkyō, like any fantasy universe, is made for fantasising about, it's basically a Mystic Eastern Wonderland where there is no death and where everything is full of divine and natural beauty. If you spend enough time reading fictional works about Gensōkyō I wouldn't be surprised you'd dream about it.

Here and there I do daydream about arriving in Gensokyo and being lucky enough to meet Hina before anyone else. I'd try to convince her to take me in and deter youkai from eating me in exchange for helping her out however I can. Things like helping her collect dolls and manning her stall, I figure people might be willing to buy from it if she (and her associated taboo) aren't right there. I think she'd be able to work out some way of mitigating the impact of residual misfortune on me, but if not I'd just have to limit my time in direct contact with her. I'd really like to at least be friends with her, ideally I'd fully move in with her and start a family together.

I haven't been to Gensokyo in my dreams, I think in my subjective reality that it's not possible to directly visit Gensokyo via dreams, only through body via the reincarnation cycle. The touhous themselves have made appearances, I think it only happens when we happen to be dreaming at the same time. I've met Reimu, Marisa, Alice, Sanae, Sumireko, and Yukari, so far.

I once dreamed I went to Gensokyo, it was the most beautiful and lifelike dream I could remember. All the other times I remember dreams it's about nightmares.

It's not an interesting a story as Mokou's Wanderer, but I did get to meet Reimu.
>be me, walking back home from university. Very stressful semester, so my head was all over the place.
>last stretch is a kinda foresty road, lotsa trees and no actual sidewalk. I dont live in a good place but this road in particular is very nice
>From behind a tree, a small girl tumbles into my view.
>Approach to check if she's okay
>It's fucking Cirno, shortly followed by Daiyousei, seemingly popping out of thin air from the same tree
>The moment they spot me, they fly back to where I saw Cirno tumble from. Into nothingness.
>It was probably a dangerous decision, but I decided to investigate, going off road and towards the trees
>The little tree grove was a lot larger than I remembered. Guessed it was just cause I never really went into it
>Way, way larger.
>And far more uphill too
>After hiking up for what feels like an hour, the volume of trees finally started to go down
>In the distance, spot a small building. Weird, never seen that before.
>Upon closer inspection, it's actually a japanese shrine
>Needless to say I'm confused as fuck as I live in the third world nowhere a shrine should be. Regardless of this, I go and check it out considering my chances of going back that hill and knowing the way back are null
>There's someone sweeping at the entrance, maybe they know what's up
>Approach waving, hollering in Spanish
>She turns to look at me with a very confused look on her face, and approaches me.
>At this point, I recognized her as Reimu. My blood ran cold at the realization of where I was
>fuck fuck fuck how do i get back
>fuck Reimu started speaking Japanese at me. I only know very basic Japanese fuck
>Start cold-sweating like mad, hands shaking.
>Reimu sighs, and begins heading back to the Shrine. I think I'm about to be abandoned there, but in reality she makes a gesture with her hand, telling me to follow her
>I dont know what the hell to do, so I might as well do as she tells me
>Gestures me to sit down at the Shrine's entrance while she goes inside. I do as I'm told.
>Normally, the landscape would've been gorgeous, but I was so distrought I really did not register anything by this point.
>Reimu comes back outside with a little tray, two cups of hot green tea. She sat beside me and handed me a cup, taking the other for herself.
>Almost like she's talking to a child, she begins saying I'll be fine, it's the Hakurei Shrine, nothing's gonna happen.
>The hot tea helps me calm down as well. Once I feel like my throat's no longer a blind knot, I attempt to introduce myself and say I want to go back home
>She chuckles, and makes a remark about my Japanese not being half bad. Seeing her laugh actually puts me at incredible ease
>Through very basic Japanese and Reimu dumbing down her speech to child-level, we're actually able to sorta half-communicate
>She's a very nice girl actually, and was very concerned about easing my mind that eventually Yukari was gonna come and send me back to my world
>Even started cracking jokes after some time, asking me if I understood them right afterwards every time.
>Every now and then she gets up and comes back with more tea and eventually rice crackers, saying she's glad no-one decided to bother her today.
>She also was very curious about my phone when I pulled it out, though I feel like the very lackluster explanation I gave on it left her feeling dissappointed.
>Eventually, as the day gave way to the evening, we had quieted down and were just looking at the sundown in silence. I had never seen an evening in such a beautiful color, and I remember how peaceful that moment felt despite the panic I had earlier
>Dream cuts off there. I wake up in my bed as normal the next morning.

I'm assuming gap hag woke up by that time and did her business. Every night I think back on that as I'm heading to bed, hoping to at least get a similar dream. Gensokyo felt like a very scary place in that moment, and I suppose not meeting any youkai on the mountain was a bit of a small miracle, but once Reimu set me at ease it really began to feel really peaceful. The air felt lighter, the smells brighter, and you could see landscapes up to miles away. A beautiful place I am hoping to visit again.

I have a dream that I dont remenber that much but I going to do the effort
>walking through the streets of a village it doesn't seem to be the human village but mayohiga
>stumbled upon Alice she asked me if I am lost
>tell her that I dont know if I am
>looks at me confused
>tells me to follow her
>ok
during the walking she talked a lot it seems she was asking me questions but I dont remember much of it I just replied with nonsense to which I got a replied that I remember
>A:are you crazy or from the outside world?
>me;why the weather is so Foggy in here?
>A:it seems that you are under the effects of some drug
>A:but dont worry soon will be leaving this place
The more we walked the more dark started to get
>a weird dog looking youkai jumped me and attacked me
>alice tried to help me but for some reason I beated that dog youkai to death
>she looks amused but doesn't say anything
>leaved magohiga
>another dog youkai attack me
>beat him to death too
>another one again
>beat him to death like the others
>and another one
>this one I launched it to the sky
>A:we already left that place so I think there is no problem if we separate now you dont seem to have any problem with youkais to so yo will be fine
>me:why is so dark
I still was like retarded for some reason and also super strong for some reason
>we separated
>now walking alone
>everything starts to get like really fucking dark
>night blinded I am
>something grabs me I dont know what it is but I beated to death to

>continue walking
>the nightblindnes is gone and started raining
And this is were things start to get funky
>a mansion
>me:good
>open the door
>it fucking breaks
>stride in like if I own the place
>that maid appears like ready to attack
>she is stopped by remilia
>she asked me if I was from the outside world
>me:perhaps
At this point I wasn't retarded but I still was really strong
>R:there are onis in the outside world or you stole that
>me:I have been wearing this during all the time I arrived
>R:well let's ignore that you are an oni but let's take in consideration that you are from the outside world I need you to do something for me
>teleported to a room with remilia and sakuya wasn't here now
In the room there were some things that were pretty modern cables, a generator that it seems to work with gasoline, gasoline, a TV, and a weird video game console, some controllers
>remilia asked me to assemble this and make it work
> did it and did it good
> turn own the TV and the console
>plug in the controller's
>give one to remilia
>she looks confused
>search for a game
Ah sweet Memories the video game console was this weird type of Brazilian Wii or something like that like when I asked my dad once to buy me a Nintendo Wii and he bought this console instead that has 500 games but a lot of them are reaped with only the colors changed
>start to cry
>before remilia asked me something I choosed a racing game
>explain her that this is a game use the controller to play and I didn't explain her how
>win multiple times
>she gets angry and say
>R:let me show you another game then
>got teleported to another's room
>it seems to be a dungeon
>there is lore people here and they use clothes that are from the outside world too
>sakuya appears and says
>whoever's survives the different rounds of monsters that will come here will gain its freedom there is some weapons that you can use and...
>ignore her an started killing all the monsters that came
>some look like zombies, weird skeletons, skinny golems, and dolls
>sakuya got angry for some reason and says
