There's one place in town that sells/rents anime DVDs, as well as that bubble tea shit and other Asian snacks; it's called Sweet Dreams or something. I decided to suck it up and visit it the other day. The selection was not terrible but full of shit (InuYasha had its own three-foot-long shelf) and most of the DVD boxes (which were tied to the shelves to prevent theft) looked grimy. There were printouts of shoujo girls everywhere, and anime music playing from unseen speakers. I read a sign that advertised karaoke nights there on Fridays and Saturdays. The only people I saw in there were a middle-aged woman behind the cash register and a guy a few years younger using the free wi-fi on his laptop. Neither of them saw me.

Do other anons have such dens of iniquity in their neighborhoods?

Whenever someone enters one of these places, God kills a Franco. Please, think of poor Franco...

There used to be a comic-book/animu/manga store in town but it catered more to the /co/ crowd than the weeaboo crowd. I haven't found any other really weeaboo place in town.

Then again I live in an extreme small-town minded city in the deep south.

I had been thinking of opening up a weeaboo shop myself but I like going to class and don't have any collateral.

>> No.244207

there was one around where I lived a year ago I never went inside and it ended up closing down. guess not enough weeaboos in the south.

>> No.244217

I'm sure there's some kind of shitty weeaboo hole somewhere. I know of a lot of /co/ shops, one which was owned by a goofy, fat, balding dude with a ponytail who was trying to integrate mango into his shelves; he might've turned it into /co/ + /a/ since I last went to one several years ago..

>a goofy, fat, balding dude with a ponytail

Sounds like every guy who has ever owned a /co/ shop, ever.

There's one here that isn't too bad. Pretty large variety of stuff, and a lot of hard to get stuff like extras that come with magazines and such. The guy working looked like a typical nerd and acted a little bit like an asshole like your typical nerd. They have an anime club that meets there, I wouldn't want to go if the guy behind the counter attended. The only thing off-putting about the merchandise was that their shirt rack, with as many shirts as it had, seemed to only have them in XXL. Also, they buy stuff off of anyone, so I might be able to get rid of some things I was planning on selling if the price is right. Less of a hassle than selling it online.

I live in Los Angeles. Plenty of shit like that everywhere.

I live in Thousand Oaks, and there isn't a damn thing out here. It isn't really that far from L.A., but it would be nice to have a place I could swing by on my way home from work, instead of fighting traffic on the 101 at 6:00pm to get into L.A. or having to make a weekend excursion specifically to browse, especially knowing I probably won't actually buy anything because it's cheaper online. /rant

One of the malls here in St. Louis has a shop that sells weeaboo stuff. It has a shitty selection so I haven't bought anything there. I wouldn't even go in, but my roommate likes the place.

There's one /a/ place I found in Montreal, but there was A LOT of (not illegal, I think, but genuinely iffy) porn and other creepyness...
Fuck it. Francophones are the lowest cockroach grind, and britfags are just screwy in general. Interbutt mailorder from the states FTW.

I'm a francophone but it's not like I care. We're on 4chin.

Were you thinking about that seedy shop in chinatown? I saw plenty of chinese stuff, but nothing in japanese (outside some audio CDs).

>> No.246227

Oh yeah, also the shop owner had a little "bye bye" bell or something which he played whenever someone left. It was hilarious.

im from Lima, Peru, and theres this place called "arenales" wich is a weaaboo land of pirated dvds and overpriced figurines.

>> No.246276

There are several in my city, but I go to a small shop downtown in particular. It's a real dank hole-in-the-wall with no windows so you need a halfway decent power level to even find it. In contrast the staff is really nice, they even have a couple of cute weeaboo girls. There's not much breathing room, but thankfully none of the other patrons ever reek of B.O. and people are generally pretty quiet. Great selection of /a/, /tg/, and even /co/ material at low prices. In short, it would be the best den of inquity ever if I didn't live 45 minutes away.

Holy shit, two other Montrealers on 4chan, this must be some kind of record.

So where are these seedy shops you speak of?

I have one nearby.

It's named Neko Neko Anime.

Lots of DVDs for rentals, translated mangos. I didn't see anything really interesting in the books but it looked quite complete for anime.
