I don't really understand how /jp/ can continue to hate her so strongly. It's pretty clear that she isn't some innocent, immature little girl who doesn't know what she's doing. In this chapter she shows real courage, and most importantly, can clearly empathize with other people. She can see how her father is suffering, and shows understanding of human emotion. She's clearly more mature than her callous brother, who treats his own father like dirt, then complains when he leaves.

She also knows that at times you have to deceive people for their own good: she knew that her brother wouldn't be able to cope with the truth about what happened with her father, and this is reinforced later when she manages to hide the nature of her relationship with Kanda. Whereas her brother is still a weak-willed coward, covering his ears to his sisters explanation and refusing to listen to any explanation that might contradict the reassuring litany he has created for himself, where he is the innocent victim who has to bravely struggle on when everyone around him is against him.

He'll probably never even question whether he was right or wrong to slap his sister without even trying to find out what was happening, preferring just to hide from reality, whereas his sister not only faced the fact that her brothers emotional cruelty was causing such damage to her father, but actually had the strength to do something about it, rather than trying to sit detached from it.


If that girl is too immature to have sex, then her brother most certainly is. And most of the world population. You might criticize her for using sex to try and secure her relationship with Kanda, but is that really any different from 99% of all relationships on Earth? Most relationships are just people clinging to each other out of fear of being alone.
