I think you're misunderstanding how Yahoo Japan auctions work. When you set a bid, you're actually setting an upper limit for yourself. So let's say you put down 5000 yen for an item, but bidding starts at 1500. That means that if someone were to put a bid down for 3000 yen, it would be outmatched by the next closest interval (3500) set by the first bidder automatically. This is how you can racket up bids and constantly get outbidded until the 5000 yen limit is exceeded. I checked the guy's auctions and there was nothing suspicious, especially given all the good ratings.

The reason why bids work like that is to discourage sniper bids and give people who have a set limit a bigger advantage so that if they're not available to watch the auction, they can rest easy in not getting beaten to the punch.

Today I decided to do a little fumo surgery on my third Yuugi. Given that I use older v1 flans, they tend to be a bit deflated with regards to stuffing. This was especially so with Yuugi 3. So I cut open the back of her head by undoing the stitches, and stuffed her head with more stuffing!

Anyone here have experience customizing fumos? I've been trying to learn how to sew so I could make the Touhous I want, and I was hoping I could find someone who'd have more knowledge on turning fumos into different characters.
-How exactly do you go about changing eye colour on a fumo? Is it just done with markers?
-On the newer fumo models, I've noticed that the back side of the head sort of has the hair colour baked into it, is that something I should be troubled about? I don't think any fumo naturally has the hair/eye colour and secondary characteristics that I want for the character I wanna make.

Eye colour can be changed with fabric paint. The scalp already being a different colour isn't a problem, you can kind of just sew another layer of fabric on top of it to cover it up. The most important thing is getting a fumo that has the facial expression you want, since that's kind of hard to change. Do also consider using non-touhou Gift plushies as a base.

do not use markers at all! I use acrylic paints for all of my custom fumos, just use a small brush, apply light layers, and go slowly and youll be fine

yeah the scalp you can just cover up either by using the hair, or you can stitch a new scalp in your desired color on top of it simply enough.

yeah expression is arguably the most important thing, but not necessarily a deal breaker, I made a ruukoto (pic related) that used a sakuya v1 as a base, and i simply used a needle to undo the thread for the mouth, and stitched in a smile, as i thought a smile fit ruukoto more than a frown

Alice V1 was my first fumo and i have her for around 3 years now.

A japanese friend of my brother at the time, told me about fumos since he knew i like touhou and visited the cons often.
He visited his parents in japan regularly so i asked him to get me one if he can.

I only have the V1 Alice and recently (like 4 months ago) bought a Reimu V1.
There is a lot of fumos i would want like Reisen, Yuuka, Tewi and some more but the ones i really want would be either Yuyuko or Mokou.
All of the ones i want except Yuuka maybe, seem to be very rare but im sure i will get a Mokou or Yuyuko at some point!

My Alice seems to have a factory error on one of her eyes, so she has bad eyesight.

Inu Sakuya, found her about five years ago for relatively cheap because she was missing her box.

I wanted some Inu Sakuya merch, she's such a cute pupper. That and I kinda wanted some soft things to break up my collection a bit from all the 40k/Gunpla and being an avid gamer, touhou was a good fit.

Update on custom fumo Mayumi: I re-did the hair using double stick fusible interfacing on fleece! Its much thicker and perfect for her hair. I haven't finished making her armor yet, so I gave her a little scarf to keep her warm.

Unless you miraculously happened to get one of the EX6/EX7 dekas from the recent release, that is pretty much the going rate - such is fumonomics. I paid ¥61k for a deka Cirno in January 2018 and ¥58k for a deka Marisa in March 2018, both in excellent condition, and there were few choices in the year or so leading up to that. Conservatively, I would say that ~10 dekas come up for sale on YAJ + Suruga-ya combined, in any given year.

However, if anyone is interested, you will have to order in moon runes directly via Suruga-ya's website and ship to a forwarder (like Big in Japan), because Buyee *will* fail to purchase during the sale and will then cancel your order due to the price difference being above their threshold. Forwarding a deka to your country will likely cost around another ￥10k.

That's about what they go for in auction so it's not really gouging. It's a historically accurate market value. You may not be willing to pay that much, but other people are and that's why they go for so much even at auction. Overstressing happens due to repeated bending of metal, time isn't really the important factor. If you bend the ears back and forth too much, the wires can break. If you contort them into more extreme positions, this could accelerate the process.

Remis are common and always on sale somewhere for a decent price, provided you're ok with it being second hand. Koishi isn't as common but she isn't as expensive as many others
