I can't believe this is your reason for going to Japan. I hope you make up another one if you get there.

If you don't believe me how awful it is, feel free to read a description of someone trying it. Then, if you're a masochist, don't forget to add the raw egg, a nice transition from horrible to HORRIBLE.

hold on there. i'm a natto eater and i like the taste. put it on a pile of hot rice, pour shoyu on it, mix it into the rice. it's really good. i used to put a raw egg in it but the salmonela scare a few years back made me stop.

Natto isn't that bad. The first couple times you have it, the taste seems really bad. But it grows on you, and is filling without being prone to destroying your body.

My two big reasons for going to Japan would be the food and the historical sites/temples. Having really enjoyed visiting old religious sites in Vietnam, Cambodia, Mexico, and Belize, I'd be interested to see how Japan can compare. All of the places I've seen before had a sort of majesty that isn't really replicated by anything made today.

The metropolitan feel of Tokyo can be replicated in any big city, and anime and related things are all accessable in the US fairly easily.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a weeaboo, but my weeaboo urges can be fulfilled entirely through my computer and the occasional anime convention, though those conventions seem increasingly populated by high school students and people in their early twenties.

It's what actually makes Japan different from all the other countries of the world that interests me, those things that cannot be really replicated on this side of the Pacific.

New York's pretty fucking big, you need to know where to go and have friends there to have fun.
