I think my short-term memory has shrunk to a very small size.
On work days I have no trouble doing my reps + 5 new cards and be done with anki in 15 minutes.
On a free day I try to add 30 cards and it takes me from 8 a.m. until noon to be done with anki. To be fair, while taking breaks to let the new information sink in... but still.

I’m not sure about anybody else, but ever since the lockdown I’ve been working from home and asides from calls to my family or messaging coworkers when I need to, I’ve been in a quite environment with no disturbances. I can literally immerse myself in Japanese from the moment I wake up until it’s bedtime and that’s what I’ve been trying to do.

In the mornings I’ll usually log on to my Twitter and just browse what’s trending in Japan, or see what the Japanese tweets in my timeline say. Maybe I’ll find a interesting Japanese youtuber and leave their video playing in the background as I make myself breakfast. Then I’ll watch a funny Japanese game show as I’m eating, or browse the Japanese version of Amazon or whatever site you wanna. I could play some Japanese music while I’m doing some work or put on a vocab practice video and say vocab words along with the audio.

The list can go on from reading news in Japanese to using Duolingo or so forth. The point is there’s a bunch of things you could incorporate into your life to get you used to hearing Japanese and using it. Even passive listening is more help than not listening to Japanese at all. At the very least you might be able to pick up a word you thought you’ve heard. And for those of us who want to take the JLPT whenever the test is available again, it’s also a good time to gather resources or slowly start learning some vocab from the test you’re interested in taking. The current situation with the lockdown sucks, but it’s necessary to make sure the virus doesn’t spread much further. So why not stay home as much as you can and immerse yourself in Japanese?

1 you won't learn like a baby you are a full grown adult we learned to learn differently the idea that you can learned japanese from listening to random papanese podcast is a fantasy for most people if you don't know the words you wont pick it up

2 it's not 24/7 you listen to a small audio file or watch whatever for 1 to 2 hours then go back try to pick out the words listen to it again the next day this is something someone from the other day messaged me about and it makes complete sense

3 you cant do it starting out learn (what I've been told) 1000 to 2000 basic words first there was a lot of conflict about this in the comments but someone pointed out that MIA/MattVsJapan went back and changed their mind about this get a textbook to start out and once you finish it try to stay away from them

again this is just what I've been told yesterday and passing whati learned on to further newbies if i left something out or you think iI am wrong please just leave a comment

side note you can't change my mind about learning like a baby its doesn't make any sense
