I actually just recently used desudesu for a commission. He was a pretty nice guy and his price wasn't too shabby. Didn't take him all that long either. There was a few grammar and spelling errors in the first draft he sent me, though he shot me another email apologizing for them and a new version of the scans so I'm assuming it's not that common of a thing.

I really wonder how much money Saha and Desudesu are making from this and considering they've been doing this for a while now, surely there's profit in spending hours editting and translating... but how much?

Somewhere in between is a good figure. Obviously up the price a little if it's one of those manga where there is TONS of text over artwork but most of the time, they probably just paid to read what is said and not for the awesome editting work.

desudesu actually charged only about a dollar per page for me, and most of them had a fairly normal amount of text on it. So I'm assuming he has his price set a bit higher than he actually charges so that if you hit him with something that has a massive amount of text you aren't surprised by the price.
