I did invest like a lot into them on test character and they never have gifts to sell, they are too rare in these shops. I just want to buy them moment I need them and be done. Once you get cooking high enough and you and your pets have good anatomy lvl, then you make that money really easly.

I never, ever use pets, and I've beaten all 3 acts of the game multiple times with 0 issue. Kokou is the best trait in the game and exclusive to non-pet or necromancy users.
The game is, always, at all points, extremely easy. You don't need pets as a result.

Do you feel like you are getting speed too slow? If so then it might be decent idea if your cooking is high enough and you get one with good traits for more corpses. Just remember you need to catch it, which might be hard without dominate if your level is higher.

But on other hand you just can inferior mat some shoes and speed rings and grind quicklings, look for speed uppers and use medals on hermes.

Plus you gain decent amount from herbed food too, which you should always eat when possible.

Melee is satisfying when you squish things, and powerful, but too many monsters dance around you, making fights not fun against them.
Ranged is like a weaker melee, but without the monster dances. You just have to juggle ammos.
Magic have mana management, requiring frequent 'R'ests, and you have to care about monster resistances. And stocks. Resource management is the keyword here.
Being a pet master is only fun if you love to take care of critters, if not it's hell. Totally dependant on your personality. Nothing is more powerful than a master pet master, of course.
Throwing panties. If you have imagination. Hard to play with one hand though.

Its really up to your preference, but best thing about elona is that even most stupid builds will work with a bit of grind. You can mix different playstyles to get whatever you want to play and if your build feels weak there are always pets to carry you till you can carry your own weight.

Instead of thinking of simple melee/ranged/magic/pet builds just find theme, weapon, pet or skill/spell and craft your build around it.

Violent garden spam. Nothing is actually worth using it 1-2 shots every act 1 non-boss enemy.
Act 2 +
Magic or continuous attack spam, still violent garden if too many are on screen, summoning the undead queen if there's a lot on screen and they're too strong. Ie if you go to the maid mansion too early to beat the cockroaches, she'll just nuke every cockroach at once 20 levels higher than you, almost instantly killing everything. Absurdly broken unit.

Literally just magic dart then nerve arrow, and pick an aoe not commonly resisted. Only in the super hyper extended end game do enemies resistances mean anything more than 'use nerve arrow instead of the aoe'.

Magic is overall the strongest, because it kills the most things per turn, even if continuous attacks can do more to a single enemy. Most of the game is killing trash. The chain attack system largely kills continuous attacks damage anyways

If you don't want to use garden, both just spamming magic arrow and the laser sword move trivialize act 1 entirely

It'll take roughly 1.1x as much grinding as normal races. All of that extra being right at the start.

All starting characters have pretty low stats/skills, usually <20. They lowered life might cause some closer calls, but you really just have to heal more and avoid things that can 2-shot normal characters.

Professor, good for level grinding so you cast less, but not something you really need.

Meteor is best, but ignoring meteor, fists are still on top unless you go super uber min-max with all things capped 2handed.

Light saber is better than other melee weapons until you close in on 100% vorpal chance, then either holding a rock in melee or scythe (decap) is best. Make sure to convert a shuriken into the rock for cut element.

Throwing is better than bow, with a stone + enhance throwrock enchant. With cut damage from shuriken as before.

TLDR

Farms are definitly worth it, just dont plant your herb seeds early on when your gardening is low.

Level up your cooking using things your harvest and corpses from mobs then dump results in your own shop(which you should buy early on so it start ranking up and your pet inside levels negotiation and charisma). Once you get bbq set, which is easy to steal, you can make a lot of money just from corpses. So just cooking corpses and putting them in shop will net you around around 200k per even low level dungeon as long as your and your pets anatomy is good enough.

Cooking is important, especialy getting it to 100 early so you can get 2 cooked things instead of 1, pretty much doubling your income from selling food.

Yeah, you need one with negotiation, it doesnt really matter how much since it will rise fast enough as long as you sometimes come in and expand potential, which costs only a bit of bronze coins.
You can buy negotiation pet from slave market when you hit level20, you can also use god given pets, which are quite easy to get.
As for gene engineering, its really simple and all you need is to get gene machine which is level 5 quest that requires you to bring 5 balls with monsters in them.
You should be giving all your pets some skills via genes anyway. Pickpocket, anatomy, performing, traveling and some others are must have. Detection on pets is pretty much only way to reliably get magic ink for recruiting with astral pen. You also want other material giving ones so you can craft lots of potential pots.

Click C, go into skills many and look at the bottom and you'll see you have 'bonus points'. Those can be used to level really annoyingly boring shit like fishing fast. You can get to 400% potential then use them or just say fuck it since act 2 lets you get infinite extra bonus points from AP anyways. If you are in the most up to date plus you also have spell points that work the same way, but you get extras of those otuside of leveling from an item instead.
You also can go to the feats menu and buy some more feats with points you gain on leveling.

Elemental damage is based on base damage, so it'd scale up the same way as base damage.

Going from 180 to 360 is 2x hits, so the 10 claws only need to increase the damage of each hit by more than 2x for it to be better. Claws are more than 1/10th as strong as normal weapons, so that requirement is easy to meet.

Any good way to cheese Amurdad early on when me an my pets cant really do much to him? I want scissors to expand my herb farms so I can let my weak pets get up to level of good ones.
I have 200 gardening and lose like 5 or so plants per harvest which is annoying as I stopped running harvest quests while ago and my seed supply is running low.

you know i really didnt get the hate for the plus dev when custom was actively updated, but having came back finding it dead and g dead as a knock-on effect, i get it. its just not fun to get nearly no gold from enemies, be unable to drink every 5 seconds because of rain, etc
i appreciated his dedication to this game and think most of what he added is cool and fun, but goddamn, what the fuck was wrong with him when he made these changes.

Yeah, Im keeping her in party so far, slowly gene engineering her. Gave her living whip that invokes ele scar and with my other pet having nightmare her spells can do decent damage.

She is really squishy though. Out of all pets I have she has least hp, even ones that are half her level are tankier and her ap gain is quite slow for now in dungeons where I can manage so no spamming life onto her yet and I already tag team with other pet to get them ap.

Im going to get Renai today and with that finish my party for a while, so I think Ill have easier time.

Although Im not sure if I should keep Renai martial arts based or give her some type of weapons.

Going for the slimegirl waifu, eh? Personally, I gave her six arm slots for Cesti of Meteors, which worked out pretty well. Dual Wield is an option too of course, but I suspect time stop rabbits might have an edge there, although I'm not really familiar with that strategy.

High enough dice and the ability to have cut element thanks to the shuriken -> rock update.

Almost nothing has resistance to cut element, so it does full damage even at endgame, making it ~4x better than even magic element (which is only 28% at max level resists). However, you only get 150 enchant power from shurikens and 200 from slash joker, so in practice, it's only maybe 20-30% more damage.

Even if you min-max debuffs, fire/cold damage still only reaches ~64% damage at max level resists. Cut damage is ~1.5x better.
