Yeah, it was great (Japan agreed). I really love that particular production team. That same team also made the glorious Vagrant Story and FFT.

FF13 has all of our old broskies from FFX-2 back, so I'm sure it's going to be a lower quality game. But at least Masashi Hamauzu and Uematsu are doing the music this time around.

10 was shit, story characters, and gameplay (railtrack rpg), the only good think was the battle system (for a FF though).

12 was shit as well: uninteresting execution of characters and plot, boring bad battle system and fuzzy skillsystem (only beaten by FF8) - only good thing were the gfx, overall it felt like a MMORPG made into a console rpg and that saidm it totally failed.

FF8 was shit because of the system underneath with this card drawing & linking faggotry, but somehow I liked it anyway, maybe because I wasn't as experienced.
13 looks like FF8 awesomeness with superior gfx and system
