What exactly is "moe"? It's hard to put it into words.

When I think of moe, I think of this picture. It's the probably the "moeest" picture I've ever seen.

It is my contention that "moe" does not refer to a set of traits in a character, but to the observer's reaction to specific traits that are more or less unique to that person. You get the moe from that picture, so we'll call you and the picture military moe. I get the moe reaction from Alice, so we'll call me and Alice lonely moe.

Imagine a young girl going "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" when they see a small, fuzzy animal. Now reimagine the scene, only instead of a young girl and a fuzzy animal, it's a man of 18 years of age or older having this reaction to something, typically a child. To me, that's moe.
