You shouldnt grind charts in the first place, so who cares if you get some "bad" ones. Just keep on playing in your range with some peeks at higher range charts until your previous peak difficulty is your new normal. Its also better to play many charts once than one chart many times per session.

Its based on an algo rating a chart in different skillsets (stream, jumpstream, handstream, jacks, chordjacks, stamina and technical). Stamina and technical are a little weird, the others are prettty straight forward and mostly based on density. No idea how it works exactly, but it does seem to work decently overall though you occasionally get the odd massively over- or underrated chart.

Yeah, Ive seen some 18 somethings that clearly felt like 20s to me, and a handful of 23s that I felt were closer to mid 21s, but usually they also were heavy on my weakest/strongest skillset so I dunno. Durability doesn't matter. Even Chinese buttons will last you a lifetime.
Sanwas have an advantage in being deeper than chink buttons, which gives you more finger mobility.
You can however substitute them with Samducks if you're going for IIDX and get a similar effect. I don't know how much it matters for Pop'n, but they are available for that game too.

If youre only on PC, theres not much else either way. It sounds like you want something more flashy or casual. DJMax and Groove Coaster are your best bet for that on PC. I guess you can emulate some PSP Project Diva games or something. If you have a Vita or PS4, Taiko and Superbeat Xonic are fine.

I'm not impressed with Heroic Verse at all desu. The style has been pretty blah imo.

The only songs I've liked in Heroic Verse so far are:
- a Taka song that repeats ROCK THE BEAT ROCK THE HOUSE for a full minute (Techno-style Essentials)
- Matt Silver
- Drop It (the only schizophrenic song in this style that isn't incoherent imo)
- that new prim extra stage
- NEWALONE (I've played it at least 15 times now, it's goood)

Most of the songlist is underwhelming at best (beatAffection (not bad, just standard Cool&Create stuff), Mel, list goes on and on), and is either boring (TRIUMPH, rave patroller (how many times is kors k gonna remake sampling paradise, it's been at least 4 times now, wtf man)) or incoherent (Roughsketch character song, camellia meme song) at worst. I've been more excited about new Leggendaria charts for old songs (like Poodle and Sennen no Kotowari) than I have been for new songs, which is a problem.

It is on my older laptop, but not on my newer, for some reason. Around -0.2 is needed even for wired speakers on the newer laptop (but the calibrated offset is closer to -0.15, while for Bluetooth it is something like -0.25.)
