Another anon, but I've only finished 火属性 so far and just starting the next route after a longer break. Structure wise there's a common part with a short dedicated chapter for each heroine in linear order and compulsory H-scenes for other heroines in between, story wise very small amount of drama that gets solved and each chapter culminates in the protagonist taking the girl's virginity. After those you get the actual route choice for the advertised different harem types, and so far there doesn't seem to be actual repeated content. And while they're all given fancy names, apparently the routes proper also double as kind of regular heroine routes even though they're all harem. The end of 火属性 route for example has Hikari focus, and the gallery now shows all her CGs as unlocked while the rest still have plenty of unseen ones.

But it really is mostly just gags and ero and characters circlejerking each other about how great they are, especially since they quickly get most of the relationship development out of the way in the earlier parts of the game, so while there doesn't seem to be direct copy pasta and it's different events, you could say that overall each route ends up mostly being more of the same unless the subsequent ones really spice things up. And as a more salient issue, personally none of the heroines have really struck a chord with me so far, in fact I'd say the hasty handling of their development in early parts feels a bit cheap. I'm wondering if the game would've just been better off being linear and not instantly rushing to H-scenes with the "have sex or die" excuse and every girl being down to fuck from the word go.

I'm actually at the same point you are, having finished the Hikari route (cause that's basically what it is) and taken a break. I saw one review on EGS (I think) say that, even though every route is supposedly a different kind of harem, they all come across as basically the same thing. I was just wondering if there was any truth to that.

I think it's very enjoyable. It is just silly gags and sex scenes and drama which just there to give context to the gags and sex scenes, but it's all well done. I actually found a few of the jokes really funny. When it comes to the characters, I think they serve a similar role to the drama (ie to give context to the entertainment); so a charage this is not. But I do like them, especially Charlonne. Maruo also became much better for me after one specific twist. I'm sure you know which one.
Overrall, it's a shallow game that is shallow entertainment, but that is what it was trying to be. I think it achieves that very well. One review said it was a good choice for a palate cleanser between more series games, and that's basically what I would describe it as too.
But yeah, don't go into this expecting anything more than a time waster. You will be disappointed . I really enjoyed wasting my time with it though, and I think most people will if that's what they're looking for.

I thought she was pretty great and had a good dynamic with the protagonist, stuff like the scene where both talk how they got through school by outsourcing homework. I can't decide whether I liked her or Karen more. Mashiro was pretty boring though and there's better gamer heroines, while Ako didn't really stand out either by being a regular NBR imouto with an already established crush.

Well to be honest I only started giving shit about politics only recently
But still to write a fantasy world with political and economical background in eroge is pretty great

there is this scene in the game where a nobel guy rent a farming equipment to farmers in high prince but the farmers were able to get better ones and cheaper from a forigen trader, now the Nobel wants the king authority to stop the trader from selling these these stuff, what the king should the king do now?

Playing through trinity, finished the common route and heading into Aya's route. It's pretty good so far. The setting got a lot more interesting with the various factions now involved. Art is nice and the music is great. As for the protagonist, it's kind of refreshing to see a relatively normal and nice MC after slogging through a bunch of VNs which mostly had scumbag MCs and Zephyr who's a mix of both. Feels like he's getting fucked harder by others than Zephyr did though given the hints spread out through the common route

I don't care for netorare. The only reason as to why I even touch the occasional game that involves netorare is because I sometimes require a break from lovey dovey romance stuff. If anything, I prefer netorase as it's consensual and no one gets hurt but sadly almost all of it is locked behind nukige. I just want some non-nukige that walks the line between vanilla and more advanced stuff. No. Knowing RotTK shit gives you more context for what's happening, but all the characters and events are written in a way where you understand what's happening and how people know each other just from the VNs themselves.

In saying that there are a lot, a LOT, of RotTK references in the series and some are contextualised better than others. There's a scene in one of the VNs where a character is taking medicine and the protagonist assumes they are drinking poison because they were shamed in the previous scene, which seems like a huge leap of logic, unless you know that the characters historical equivalent died in that exact manner, and that isn't pointed out to the reader.

Basically you can just pick them up and read them with no other RotTK knowledge and enjoy yourself just fine (assuming you actually like the VN) and you won't miss anything character or plot important, but you will miss smaller references.

I thought Sengoku Koihime was disappointing and full of missed opportunities when I read it. It started off quite well, with an MC who is less of a blank slate than the Koihime Musou one, and focus on a smaller group of characters, but then about a third of the way into the game it's like the writers remembered that there were 50 heroines and the game only had one route, so you get most of the cast rapidly introduced, seduced, fucked, then thrown into the crowd of non-important characters to do fuck all for the rest of the game, if that. On top of that a bunch of the characters who are actually developed from the very start of the game do very, very little or disappear from the cast entirely for most of the next 2/3rds of the game. That game would have seriously benefited from having routes for the different factions like SKM did, and I've low key been hoping they remake it like that for a while now. Although if Kakumei is any indication if they remade it they wouldn't fix any of the issues.

But to answer your question, in my opinion the Koihime Musou games have better pacing and handle their heroines better, so even if you dropped Sengoku Koihime you might not drop SKM. Which game are you thinking of playing first?

Fatefags are mentally ill, but you are obviously free to believe whatever you want. Tsukihime isn't really chuuni, but it's pretty good overall and is probably the best introduction to Nasu if you don't want to go for his more obscure non-vn shit like DDD. Mahoyo is the best thing Nasu did up to date in terms of the overall quality, it is also closer to the chuuni genre than Tsukihime, but starting from Mahoyo isn't a very good idea.
Also, as much as I don't want to recommend touching f/sn, it's sort of worth it for heaven's feel, which is the only really Nasu-like part of fate, and for f/ha, which is, ironically, better than the f/sn itself.

Yeah there are a few times in the series where they talk about Chinese history and literature and such aside from RotTK. One of the reasons I like the series is because there's more depth to the setting than your normal isekai, mostly because it's based on real history so they don't need to actually come up with it themselves. Chusingura was the same, since that isekai story was so confined to that particular location at that particular time period they could get pretty detailed with the culture and worldbuilding.

The first reply is actually my own. It's not very interesting and repetitive. The characters act in a moronic fashion and I didn't care about any of them.
I picked it up because I thought it was maybe going to be a somewhat interesting story with dark fantasy elements but that's not really it.
Essentially you get some story, then you hit the trigger for the NTR scene, which comes with a decision that literally only affects the order in which you'll get to see the two scenes. After that you get a new piece of plot for one or two minutes and then you're already back at the the next trigger. This presents itself in the most moronic, preventable and repetitive way. Namely, everyone knows they should be careful since they're hunted but they do stupid shit on their own anyways and get raped. You always get to decide on who it is you want to look for first and because this whole thing is NTR based MC of course has to have the skill of being able to watch via mind magic. So he comes running to the rescue, while watching the girl get raped or sexually harassed but always fails. Later on the decisions are literally just flipped and that's where I dropped it because it bored the fuck out of me and because Kinmedai Pink's art is pretty shit in this one. There is also some hilarious stuff like "the intervention forces that should help us got food poisoned so they won't be here for a while and I can get raped a few more times".

Anyways, the BGM is good!

I'm attempting to play Kusarihime ~Euthanasia~ on Windows 7, but no matter what I do I can't seem to get the music to play. This pops up at the start of the game, otherwise it runs fine and I get the OP, dialogue, and sound effects with no audio. The slow intro leads me to believe that there should be music present.

I did some research and post >>7189726 from 2011 stated that the solution was to mount the Gamedisc iso on drive D, which I have done with no effect. I'm suspicious that this is some manner of codec issue, because trying to play the .wav files independently of the game results in an error in every media player I've tried it in. I'm considering running it in a VM, but I'm not sure if it's a matter of incompatibility or some manner of file corruption.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue is? I assume the game version I'm using is an older copy, seeing as I had to actually patch it to even get the OP, but I'm wondering if the Liar-Soft Selection edition of it would fix these issues. (As well as where I could find it, if that is indeed the case.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello newfriend. Sounds like you downloaded the original version of the game which has the music as separate CD-DA tracks on the disc.

If you insist on playing this version, you need to rip the music tracks to wav files and use a program called _inmm.dll to make the game play those ripped tracks.

Luckily for you, in case of Kusarihime there's an updated DL version where the music is just included normally as a part of the game's files. It also has 800x600 resolution compared to 640x480 of the original. Some other friend already linked it for you, so get it.

Knowledge of _inmm.dll is essential to playing various older games, so consider looking it up too, for future games with no updated versions.
