I don't know about this. The artwork doesn't look too much like his normal style. The cover is still recognizable but if I look at the pre-order bonuses, they don't remind me of him. The coloring is completely different and it's missing the roughness besides other things.

Just finished the latest Astronauts game 絶対女帝都市～叛逆の男・カムイ～ my thoughts:

The entire game felt more like a Nukige compared to their other titles. Once you reach the third area you spend around half of the time in ero scenes. Personally I didn't mind it since I’m not the biggest fan of their writing and Astronaut games have a habit of overstaying their welcome which wasn't the case this time around. Overall I had a pretty good time. Although it doesn’t come close to Demonion 1 which is still Astronauts Sirius magnum opus.

The porn is pretty good. M&M always deliver and their work looked even better than usual this time. Fetish wise Jotei might appear as a Kukkoro game but only 1 character really follows the archetype. It feels more in line with Chaos Dominas then say Demonion 1. The main fetish of the game is Exhibitionism. There are a lot of CG's where MC is either recording or has an audience.
Story wise the game only really picks up at the end when you are about to confront the Jotei herself. The game goes full shounen so it's kinda fun altough a bit cliche. Contrary to their other works the main villain is actually good this time around. One of my favorite scenes is where she just straight up picks up your motor with her bare hands and slams in into the ground like an absolute animal.

The gameplay is nonexistent. You basically press a button to take over a new area and that’s it. There is no resource or time management since you can always clean up the entire map and you don't lose any resources by doing it. There is only one choice in the entire game. If you skip out on the events marked with a Skull in the third map you won't be able to see the mutant rape scenes. It also affects the length of the ending with a couple of scenes that are otherwise skipped over so I recommend to do those events even if you aren't into the mutant scenes. They are still easily avoidable.
There also is a bit of sequel baiting at the end, it wouldn't be an Astronauts game without it.

Yeah but I know it's a pretty contrarian opinion. Demonion 1 delivers more on the whole "you are the 魔王/villian" premise compared to 2. In 2 you are mostly justified and too many characters start of liking the MC already or break too fast which leads to dull CG's. The scenes in Demonion 1 are amazing across the board. You always get a couple of scenes of Kukkoro, some 調教 and afterwards some vanilla after they 落ち'd. It's really satisfying to see the corruption across multiple scenes and the dialogue is just really lewd after the get their 烙印. Demonion 2 also has some great scenes but the ratio of good to bad scenes is better in 1 than 2.

Demonion 2 also has too much filler text. One of the arguments people make when they say Demonion 2 is better 1 is that the story, MC and characters are more fleshed out but personally I couldn't really care about any of those things because it's just so dull to read. Astaroth might be generic but at least he is a good 竿役.

I also prefer the gameplay of Demonion 1 over 2. It's nothing special but it's a decent tower defence with some added micro when you need to capture a heroine. Demonion 2 gameplay is a below average RTS that felt like a chore since the UI is awful. In Demonion 1 it's also easier to edge during the gameplay which is pretty aspect of an Eroge.

So, what you guys do to read LNs? Everytime i try to convert something from epub to mobi it always screw up the japenese, putting it horizontally or mixing up any furigana to the actual text. It's a pain.

Also, any promising eroge coming out this year?

Places like dlraw have a lot of things. Sometimes you'll find a batch if the series have a lot of volumes on some torrent too.
For me is just more convenient to read on the kindle, but sometimes if i use things like calibre epub reader i'll find things like the text on horizontal columns, but writen as if there's a horizontal line so they are like 90° turned. I can't really understand what the people who make it are thinking.

I think I might have went into this game with the wrong expectations because it always gets namedropped with games like Subahibi or SayoOshi but the delusion sequences are mostly relegated to dreams at the end of every day and it's only really near the end when they start happening outside of it - I think there's really only 1 or 2 incidents which has the "did that actually happen or was it just a delusion" effect.

The other thing that gave me the wrong impression was the poorly written VNDB description that made it look like the MC developed some kind of split personality after being hit in the head like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - I was honestly expecting some kind of twist that recontextualizes the events, perhaps even something supernatural given the foreboding head that appears at the end of every day (that probably symbolizes something but it's flying over my head), instead the plot is exactly as it seems on paper - just a guy snapping after being subjected to bad relationships

The musical theme choice of For Elise is kinda weird - I wonder if it has to do with the theory that Beethoven wrote the song for a woman he wanted to marry who rejected him for another man.

Craftwork really nailed the depressing atmosphere just like SayoOshi though. If you ever wanted to play an extremely realistic portrayal of relationships for salarymen in dead-end jobs (so the game's target audience) then this is the game for you.

Any other short but interesting games to move onto? With available working downloads preferred.

It's an RTS where you happen to be protecting the base all the time. With pause, so each round takes less than a minute, unless you really suck. S ranking is actually pretty tight. If any of your units get hit hard, let alone destroyed, you're done. Some units can position actual towers on the map that do stuff, but they are relatively useless. Blowing shit up fast is a way to go.

Finally got round to finishing off Silverio Vendetta and man Vendetta's route was fantastic. Great fights, all the characters had incredible moments, especially Lucido and the route itself just invoked a lot of emotion. I'd honestly rate the route a 10/10. However, can't really rate the entire thing as a 10/10 on account of the first two routes. The routes themselves had some cool moments, they just weren't that satisfying in regards to the endings and the characters themselves.
I'll get round to Trinity in a few days and hopefully I'll be caught up for Ragnarok

So, I finally finished 絶対女帝都市〜叛逆の男・カムイ〜. I would have been done sooner but I've been working crazy hours to cover coworkers in self quarantine.

This game is the most clearly nukige-like of the Astronauts Sirius games that I've played. There's no gameplay, easily the majority of lines in the game are in h-scenes, you'll have about 2 minutes of reading story followed by 2 or 3 h-scenes right up until the end of the game where, in true Astronauts style, they just dump a ton of shit that was never foreshadowed then bait a sequel and never deliver.

First off, the story. If someone told me /r9k/ wrote this game (and somehow published it in Japanese) I would probably believe them. The setting is a post apocalypse FotNS feminazi nightmare where women rule with an iron womb. Artificial insemination is used to make kids, men are slaves and are being systematically exterminated, the women in power have big speeches about how the inherent violent nature of males is to blame for their treatment, and so on.The main character isn't much of a character, he's just some dude who wants to overthrow the matriarchy and who fucks women good, his motorbike is more of an established character than he is. The game ends with Kamui overthrowing the feminazis and fucking them into submisison then going on to the next city to do the same thing. Basically, aside from the novelty of seeing such a caricature of a setting there's nothing to the story at all.

But that's okay because this game is really about the porn, and the porns pretty good. Lots of exhibitionism, most girls have a small corruption arc, a couple of gangbangs, everyone has an optional monster rape scene, standard fare for Astronauts really but coming off of Verethragna the porn in this game is much better. The heroines themselves are pretty standard though. They do their job well enough but they are just there for Kamui to beat up and then fuck, in the entire game there are only about 5 scenes where one of the heroines is in the same room as another heroine, not much character fleshing out going on here. Characterwise the highlight of the game was actually Kamuis three captains straight out of FotNS, easily the most entertaining part of the VN (aside from the porn)

The ending did irk me though, and it irked me because it wasn't the first time Astronauts had done it. Firstly, the pathetically blatant sequel bait with a brand new character being introduced in literally the last scene talking about how they are going on a new adventure please wait for it. While it wasn't as bad as Verethragnas 4 motherfucking new characters in the final segment, that game still has no sequel and god knows if this game will get one. The Demonion series, the only Astronauts Sirius series with actual sequels in it, are self contained ironically enough. The second part was the MC leaving all his women behind to go get possibly murdered in a ditch somewhere, just like Chaos Dominas and Dungeon of Regalia. Like, why spend an entire game having the heroines fall head over heels in love with the MC, only for the MC to go see you later hoes lmao and leave them? It was even worse in Chaos Dominas because the heroines are actual characters there. Why do this? Demonion 1 and 2 didn't and again, those are the two most popular and highest regarded Astronauts Sirius games.

Anyway, the game isn't bad. If you want to jack off to strong women getting defeated by the cock, it's worth checking out. There isn't much else of substance to it but it's a nukige, there doesn't need to be.
