Here's a little proof-of-concept thing I've been working on, inspired partly by the DOOM server. It allows you to replace playermodels and vehicles with 2D sprites. I was thinking this could be used either for a danmaku-based mode, or used along with the dialogue system that was tested in an earlier run to create interactive NPCs throughout the Gensokyo map whenever it's finished. It's a bit rough around the edges right now but I'm pretty satisfied with the potential of it, especially for NPC use. The server will be one year old next month so I'm working on trying to set the foundations for more involved scripts gamemodes now that most of the simpler stuff is done and there aren't many problems in most modes now aside from the occasional ping spikes.

Also for the modeler anon, I'm not sure if there's a specific reason you have it set up that way so I didn't mess with it, but I noticed in the Tokyo script you have a bunch of seperate client.lua files that only load in one DFF and TXD at a time. You can actually merge all of those into one script pretty easily. It's not really a huge deal but it might save you some headache down the line.

It's meant to resemble what you'd see in a VN mostly, pretty standard fare stuff. It needs some assets though like a proper text box, better sized sprite images and such which I haven't had the time to look for quite yet. It's mostly a backburner thing for the time being.

Essentially what it does is adds the functionality of allowing certain triggers like say walking into a certain radius of something, or typing a chat command, and then displays a specified png and dialogue once you set one of those triggers off. It's pretty cool. Basically it works how you see in the picture though, once you set off the trigger the character and dialogue box pop up. It doesn't affect the actual chat system in any way though.

Are there any models in particular that you're looking for? Aside from playermodels, you can find the vehicles and stuff pretty easily in MTA's mods folder since all that stuff gets saved client-side, they're located in the "modloader2" and "weapons" folders respectively.

You can access the models any time via the MTA folders, but just for good measure here are all of the weapons and vehicles currently used by the server. These don't have any sorting mind you, and are just named after the default ID's of whatever vehicle/weapon they replace in GTASA.

Another thing I did want to mention, is you should make a good habit of using "local" variables, it's less intensive on the server and generally works quicker than a global variable. The variables in your teleporter script, for example, could be assigned local variables. You can read a bit more about it here:

We've moved from using Battle.net and needing official CD keys over to purely VLAN not too long ago. While originally for map compatibility and allowing more anons to join, if you'd read up on what was going on with Reforged we happened to move over just in time.
It's somewhat awkward to coordinate without a lot of Battle.net's features, namely the lack of any sort of lobby between games, but there have been some measures to mitigate those issues.

1. Download Zandronum, it's the source port we'll use. A source port is kind of a port of the doom engine to modern machines, that also modernize the engine itself. The important part is it makes multiplayer very easy. Please get the full installer as it comes with Doomseeker, a server browser that is highly recommended we use.

2. Download the WADs (Wheres All the Data). doom2.wad contains all the base data that almost every mod is built off of (download includes other iwads too). Struggle - Antaresian Legacy is the wad we'll be playing. TouhouSkins_v2 is the skins wad to play as 2hus. Links seperated in case you already have most of this.

3. Install Zandronum, then drop both doom2.wad, SRTG.wad, and SRTG_M28.wad wherever you installed it to. Make sure they're in the same folder as zandronum.exe.
4. Start zandronum.exe by itself so you can begin the first time set up. Make sure doom2.wad is selected as the base wad. I'm not sure if hardware mode is required (it is for some mods) but make sure it's selected just in case. Make sure to customize all the settings, such as controls, mouse options, player setup (like your name), display options, and video mode (resolution).
5. Navigate to the Doomseeker folder and run doomseeker.exe or the shortcut. A server browser should open. I don't remember if you have to configure this but I'll go through it just in case. Go to Options>Configure and under Games>Zandronum, make sure the path to executable is pointed at your zandronum.exe. Ensure file paths is pointed at the same folder as the one zandronum.exe is in. You may want to make an additional folder called WADs somewhere close. Regarding Doom, I found out that you can change the midi soundfont the game uses. This means you can play with the Touhou and PC-98 sounds. Install VirtualMIDISynth and add in the soundfonts, you can only have one of them enabled at once I think, then change the midi device in your Doom sound options accordingly.

-New girls: Cirno, China, and Patche. This leaves only 4 more soku girls left.
-All skins now use the custom colours. This allows for more accurate representations of the girls, and variations if anons want to use the same skin. If you don't want to mess with the colours yourself, I have included a txt file with console commands to switch skins using some close to accurate colouring.
-Minor edits to some girls animations. Feel free to send complaints my way if you don't like these changes.

Also, would you guys be interested in seeing the heavy vehicles (rhino hunter and hydra) reappear in gang wars as extremely expensive, rentable vehicles? I think 'nerfing' them via absurd cost isn't going to work out. For starters, some people, me included, play turfs for cash. At the rate of acquisition, you'll need 5 full runs of turf war for a gang of 4-5 to even run the tank for 1 minute. A minute which will only net ~$1000 total depending on how many turfs you have, and if you're using it to capture turfs, it won't even last long enough to capture the smallest turf if you're only investing 10k into it.

That said, I do want to see them in turfs -sometimes-, and mostly only to fight against each other. For this, I have some suggestions:

100% remove Tank's invulnerability to guns and rockets. It is simply too fast and its gun too strong (and fast firing) to fall back on the excuse that flamethrowers and molotovs are good against it (both short ranged weapons). It can still have a lot more HP than a car, but I'd say the more HP it has, the slower it needs to be and its gun's rate of fire also needs to be nerfed. Besides, they can still be repaired in spray garages, right?

As for the hydra, I think the suggestion of having the HS rocket be available would do the trick. However, its rocket spam is a bit on the OP side, so if it's possible to nerf its rate of fire as well, that would only be a good thing. I'd say the Hydra can fire rockets around the same speed the Tank can fire its cannon in vanilla, while the cannon should fire maybe 1/3 or 1/5 its normal speed.

For obtaining them, I'm not actually against the rent system - but I'd suggest a reasonable price, given the nerfs I suggested above. Maybe $200/minute? At least, that, I think, is the total cash that 1-2 regular sized turfs give a gang of 4 players. Since you have the real numbers, you can massage the numbers in that line of thought. In addition, I'd suggest a large upfront cost, like 10,000 each, to stop an entire gang from just riding tanks all at once (at least, without bankrupting themselves).

This way, I believe tanks and planes will become, rightfully, strategic weapons that will be deployed carefully and in small numbers. Ordinarily, at least. If people really want to blow the bank on a few minutes of joyriding in tanks/planes, why stop them?

My thanks for your suggestions. Mind you, you also receive money based on kills as well so it's not entirely based on capping turfs alone. The base value is around $900-1000 per kill multiplied slightly by how much money the person you had killed had (think of it like a bounty system of sorts). Namely I was thinking it was something a gang could use it's bank cash for as currently there aren't a lot of large money sinks as of now aside from guns. I can't promise anything with scripts, but I'll take a look and see what I can do. I've actually messed around before with modifying rate of fire for the Rhino and Hunter but it seems changing these things are rather hit or miss, and there's a lot of simple exploits to get around those changes and back to the base rate of fire for example. I can't make any promises, but I'll take a look and see what I can do. This'll probably be a side project for whenever the server next goes on break.

Whenever the Gensokyo map is done, it might be fun to have a certain heavy vehicle placed in each faction's base or have them be purchasable there.
