The three language levels of Japanese

1. The shitter or the Eternal Boomer

The perfect example is Steve Kaufmann.

So now what is the boomer of language learning? Someone who never uses textbooks (only a little bit for a few grammar and explanation points). Someone who can't even read Katakana (that's right, boomer Steve can't read fucking Katakana... JustBoomerThings). Someone who can't write Kanji and thinks that Heisig is the devil. It's all about his feelings and even though the boomer sucks in Japanese he still thinks he has mastered a language like the true boomer he is. Also guess what? He "knows" 15+ languages with the only goal to visit the country. Boomers gonna boom.

2. The eternal weeb or the MIA/AJATT cultist

The weeb hates textbooks, BUT he uses Heisig. That's the reason why he can write all 3k Kanji perfectly, but is a shitter in vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and understanding. Sure, the eternal weeb has most likely a Youtube channel and created his immersion bullshit like MIA, but he is always stuck in low intermediate tier. Because the weeb is unable to use textbooks he is never able to read university tier literature. The biggest problem with the weeb is that university books and other advanced literature has no "ara ara" or "oniichan" in it so he isn't interested in it anyway. Also most weebs are unemployed basement dweller with manga pictures on their walls. The average weeb in Japan has most likely spent most of his time on toilet eating bento because the Japanese students are ignoring him.

3. The 日本語先生

Now here comes the big deal
>he always used textbooks to learn the language
>Heisig is his go to way of learning Kanji
>He makes top tier introductions to the Japanese language on Youtube
>Always on point and knows every linguistic definition of any language related topic
>He works as English teacher in Japan and actually interacts with Japanese people outside of some awkward chat rooms and otaku discussions.
Here it is. This is what textbooks and Heisig will get you. Even a creep like Langfocus is able to master Japanese with textbooks and Heisig. And in his free time he can impregnate female Japanese students so they can get their A+. I hope you use textbooks or you will never be a 日本語先生 with all the benefits.

I only pass a card if I know it outright without even looking at the sentence, plus a handful that are instances of a word I already know with some obvious modification (e.g. X -> Xする) that I'm confident I'll remember without review. Of the cards I do extra review on, I tend not to miss any on a given day, and if I do it's usually day 1 for that card, which I'm not sure even gets counted as relearn. I've only been doing the deck for 30 days though, so who knows how mature cards will go in the long run.
