Miko made everyone in Japan covert to Buddhism in order to pacify them so they're easier to control but converted herself to Taoism solely to gain immortality. Byakuren used black magic to turn herself into a youkai and uses Buddhism solely as a front to make her pro-youkai activities seem non-threatening. These are not religious people. They're both quite evil.

The action you cited for Miko wasn't necessarily evil. The point was to make sure the country was secure despite her not being there. What's evil about Miko is her gaming families and wiping out a clan in the process to achieve peace, making a betrayer out of herself and at least one other (Futo).

Her audacity and commitment make her much more likable, though.
