Huge kudos to Alka. If it wasn't for them pushing the release date of their TL patch so hard, the official release would probably take much, much longer. Gg, guys; thanks for the effort.

And I expect the very same to happen with AB! - once their patch gets close to release, Visual Arts will do everything to push out their release on Steam before the TL patch comes out.

That's how I feel about it as well. I'm sure Visual Arts felt very pressured by the success of the fan TL. Alka did a great job. I'm really enjoying Summer Pockets, too. Shiroha's route was unusual but very cool in the way it didn't let any scene be unimportant. Currently on Tsumugi's route and it has that great classic Key vibe. I'm hoping AB gets released sooner rather than later. And then maybe Rewrite Harvest Festa will finally come out so I can have my happy ending to Kotori's route that I've waited so long for...

I totally missed that the demo was out. Localised honorifics are a nuisance but it doesn't seem that bad otherwise. What threw me for a loop more than anything else though was that one of the songs in it has the same melody as one of the songs in Strange Journey. I guess they're both based on some classical piece?

My only issue is that I actually think Alka's translation way just plain better. Comparing the two, side by side, it's so obvious that they cared for the vn and wanted to give it their very best. Visual Arts' translation - while good - lacks this elusive style of fan translation. You can kind of tell that there's no love behind it, but money in and of itself. It would be great if they released their patch as well (Steam-only compatible), so that with both versions out people could compare and choose their preferred script. A bit of a shame it's not going to happen for obvious reasons.

Still though, a terrific job on Alka's part. If anyone from their team lurks around in this thread: a genuine thank you from me.

Regardless of how the rights are reverting back to aNCHOR, the motivation is that the developer likely decided they no longer need a middle man and are directly targeting the Western market themselves, especially with the projects they announced at that 20th anniversary broadcast in the pipeline. I am going to guess it is due to how bad of a middle man Sekai is. They seem to lose a lot of huge publishers and get a lot of negative comments when it comes to adult patch's, and getting any set goals when it comes to releases. Not trying to say they do everything wrong but not having a clear goal or plan really hurts them and especially so when they have so many titles licensed really harms them overall.

1. Only a not official 18+ patch

4. SRPGs might be more popular than ARPGs

They wouldn't buy it either way. If a free option exists, some people will take it. I tend to pirate to buy, especially with VNs, but not all people do. With that said, I wish Alka had left up the trial patch at least because it could help some people who are on the fence decide.

I'd definitely suggest reading this version of Summer Pockets. It is very much a complete story.

Reflection Blue is to Summer Pockets what EX/Perfect Edition is to Little Busters. It adds extra routes and expands Common, but the original version itself is still very much complete.

It is funny that titles like Senren Banka (peak of 408 concurrent users after only an hour) and Venus Blood (peak of 757 concurrent users) need to walk on egg shells while trying to get onto Steam, yet Valve at least through now hasn't touch the content in titles like Omega Labyrinth Life or YUNO, known for being console release done by a console developer, which only had concurrent peaks of 131 and 60 respectively.

I will never understand this argument. The only thing that Evenicle and Rance have in common is the company that made it. That's all. All Aru did was show that the figures for what is considered "good" (as in constantly at the top of the top 10 for multiple months) sales wise on the MG store aren't as high as people would expect making it hard to really figure out how much stuff actually is selling. You could probably jump up the sales list by selling a dozen copies of something.
The old sales graphs using the order numbers posted here were more useful at getting a rough idea on how much sales were spiking for each release.

Senren Banka just passed 900 concurrent users putting it ahead of Date A Live's 890 concurrent record from last year for paid VNs.

Not including free VNs, the only 3 I found with higher 24 hour peaks are:

Nekopara 3: 2,571 peak

Up to 495 total reviews and 18 English reviews on Senren. Obviously the Chinese reviews will continue to be the overwhelming majority, but with time it should pick up a respectable amount of English reviews like the other Nekonyan titles have done.

Between this and Aokana's success, there aren't going to be many PC titles out of reach for NekoNyan/Hikari Field if they are looking to license some more titles.
