Post photographs and videos you or others have taken around Japan.
Modern or traditional, urban or rural, landscape or macro, anything is good.

Try to keep pictures natural looking if possible.
If you know the location a photo was taken, it is useful to post it with the image.

Let's try to stay alive (would appreciate it if the pastebin was updated).

For ultimate portability and quality grab a mirrorless camera for around ~$500 would be great. Look at the Fujifilm X-T100, a friend has it, looks incredible like oldschool stuff, and takes super impressive pics.

I would say spending more on a camera would be too much for a beginner, there is no point buying a $1500 camera and then you need 5 thousand in lenses to use it to its full potential.

I brush twice a day, floss twice a day, use mouthwash, the whole deal and still they're terrible. Meanwhile my dad has perfect teeth, hasn't been to a dentist in 30+ years and was a smoker for 40 years.

To my knowledge I'm not on the spectrum. Only thing I suffer from is social anxiety, depression, and I'd assume avoidance personality disorder. To be fair, my understanding is that Japan doesn't really believe in custom orders outside of chains.
Let's say you don't eat raw meat because you believe in food safety, you don't like mayo, don't like tofu, don't like communal serving methods that easily facilitate the transfer of disease, and don't like vegitarian food because you are an American. What are your japanese-y options in japan?
Katsu, curry, karage, ramen, unagi, tempura, yakitori, hibachi'ed fish, definitely-not-korean bbq, rolled omelette, egg custard, and omurice. Off that list, the only things that you won't be able to get outside of japan are the eel, rolled egg, and egg custard.

That being said, your friend is a moron. He should have bought an electric kettle and been living off instant ramen.

demolition? I don't think so, most of the stores and restaurants inside looked OK.
This was in Osaka, there were a lot of shotengais/commercial strreets like this with the common elements like the signs or "canopy" in very bad shape, but people didn't seem to mind.
They eventually seem to repair them, usually after many years of being completely broken, burnt by the sun and such
A shotengai is just a street after all, you can't just demolish it completely unless business is so bad in the street that almost all stores inside have to close.
Such is the case with this other one I found in a small town south of Osaka, and even then, it was still standing long after being completely deserted. (some stores were being used for storage, tho)

That explains why my dad didn’t wanna eat anything but spaghetti bolognese and pizza when we went together on a trip to Japan (and pretty much anywhere else I’ve travelled to with him), and why he’s so disgusted by octopus, shrimp, spinach, onions, etc.

Fuji or Lumix compaxt cameras till 500$ if you want 4k video, good pictures and compactness. Fuji X-T20, Nikon D5600, Canon EOS 7D for better quality images, but they will be bulkier. I have Lumix gx80 and nikon d3500 and those do good job on all occasions. Only for night photos, you will need to learn to manual settings. Pic releated is from Lumix GX80 when I was trying it out in london

I was the only one that got off there, so yes.
It's just a small halt, you could only buy the tickets in the machine, so I'm pretty sure it never has staff.
There are a lot of small halts like this one in rural areas, some of them aren't owned by JR, and only have a ticket machine in japanese. This line in particular was owned by a small company, whose name I can't remember

However, this place also seemed to double as a small cafe, as you can guess by the furniture, there was a cafe machine and also a tiny counter, but it was shut down... So I guess there's maybe a waitress sometimes? You had to cross the room to get from the platform to the street, so the doors are always open anyways.

I just googled the place now and it's in fact also a cafe called AnneShirley
