Is the Tsukihime manga as bad as the noexsistant anime or can I expect to get a decent overview of the series through it?

It's annoying having to go through all the trouble to get the Visual novel, translations, and get running only to find that I hate whatever I got and if I can at least see if I'm interested it saves me time and effort. It's not like I was going to completely ignore the VN, it's the main reason I'm doing this.

The manga is really just fanservice for the people already into Type-Moon. It wouldn't be that great for first exposure to Tsukihime, as a lot of things will seem to make no sense or come out of nowhere if you don't know the background. The anime has a good soundtrack and that's about the only thing noteworthy about it. Just man up and read the VN.
