I don't remember, but there might be a handicap placed on new members that will limit what you can download at some capacity. Read through the information section on the site. If you're new to using private torrent sites, one trick for them is to first download really big torrents that are somewhat popular and are marked as not being counted to your download ratio. In avistaz case I think it's a yellow star. Leave your torrent client up for a bulk of the day and some days/weeks later you should be plenty fortified in upload credit to allow you to freely use the site from there forward without being snagged by any penalties.

Watched the first episode of Hiiragi's Classroom. I liked it a lot. The presentation and music are superb. The actor of Hiiragi is amazing and Kayano's is pretty good too. I like how the show doesn't hold back any punches, at first I thought he was just gonna scare them, teach them a life lesson and then turn himself in. But then he actually killed someone.

Also I noticed the writer, Shogo Muto, worked on Kazoku Game. I loved that one too and I can definitely see the similarities. Has anyone watched All About My Siblings or The Mysterious Thief Yamaneko? Those seem to be his other high rated drama, wondering if they are as good as well.

Thought it was a down M1, but at least there were some new faces and no one bombed. I think 和牛 will eventually get the 笑い飯 treatment and win one they're not supposed to win to make up for all the ones they should have, but that said I thought they weren't as good as usual this year, maybe they were saving their best for the finals. Dunno about milkboy winning as newcomers with basically the same ネタ twice in a row but they did have the best first round, and the other finalists weren't especially great either. I think I've agreed with Matsumoto's vote almost every year, but that usually ends up being the group that doesn't win.

They could be. I can't think of another conbi who is more popular than Chidori but less influential than Downtown today.

They're quite different in a lot of ways though. Chidori is better at tsukkomi in variety shows like Aiseki Shokudou and at working as a pair. Downtown rely on the people around them more, but their catalog is formidable.

Downtown have had a pretty rocky relationship at times, whereas Chidori are from what I understand, best friends who spend all their time together. I think 10 years from now Chidori's career will have followed a very different trajectory to Downtown.

Hiiragi's Classrom done.

Absolutely amazing finale. I loved it so much. Now there's a lot of holes throughout the story that you can poke at, but I don't care because it stuck the landing brilliantly. This show is a pure appeal at emotion - and it is self aware of that. Most people will dismiss its message and just go about their lives like they always have, but I think some few people will be able to find deep resonance within it. Especially 4chan users / people who write mean comments on the internet or have in the past. Also it's just really freaking fun from start to finish and doesn't have any slow bits. I highly recommend watching this if you haven't.

Oh and as a side note, man do the subtitles lessen the impact of the speech in the end. He's just talking for a few minutes with these chat messages showing up on the screen, so the subs end up covering the entire fucking screen. Luckily I know Japanese so I could turn them off, but surely there was a better way to handle this.

Everything Kuro-chan does seems suspiciously like acting. He’s brilliantly sleazy though. Not sure about how they get him drunk - when he is supposedly diabetic. Thinking VR headset is real and trying to touch the girls, am I dead in field of flowers lol etc. That location I’m sure has been in numerous dramas where guys get shot down. I thought everyone except him were actors at first.

Kaede stunning but miyuki the cutest. None are really idol tier. Least of all the brace face.

Not him but they are trash in the sense that they lack good acting and good scripting/storytelling. Sure they are highly rated but that's because the cast is popular (e.g the lead is a janiizu idol or a cute actress who can't act for shit) not because of the quality of the drama. Popular dramas or dramas that gain high viewer ratings tend to have ham actors and cliche stories, if you want truly good dramas go check who wrote them, who directed them and who is acting.

Are dramas produced by the main commercial national TV networks (excluding TV Tokyo) worth watching anymore?
For more than a decade now, the sweeping majority of their dramas are cliché and repetitive with the same exhausted portraying of the same-old themes which most of the times are repressed and conservative.
Meanwhile, dramas made by subscription based networks like the private satellite channel WOWOW TV and the streaming service provider Netflix or Amazon Video tend to have more freedom and liberty, covering more themes wider and deeper. For example, Naked Director. That drama singlehandedly made me realize how shallow the national TVs' dramas are.

I'm not a drama fan but I think the "compliance" culture of TV since the 2000s has a lot to answer for. Nowadays they're too shy to cover risqué topics or be edgy because of complaints and advertisers threatening to pull their endorsement.

Back in the shōwa or even early heisei era variety shows were far edgier. Porn stars got their tits out on TV while comedians motorboated them. Stunts were much more dangerous.

Take Documental on Amazon Prime for example. While it can be hit or miss, there's no way stuff like Kasuga putting the curry toy under his foreskin and pushing it out or Akiyama nearly jerking off Kenkoba would fly on network TV.

I watched this Stand Up drama to see what’s all the memes are about and I liked it. I see why people here meme about it but it has a nostalgic feel, it reminded me of the first time I watched a Japanese drama, it had kinda the same setting and watching it took my back to those days.

I think the biggest reason is that people are using phones more than PCs these days and it's difficult to sub on phones.

It also takes so much time to sub. I'm not sure which part's the biggest timesink but it's either repeating a part many times trying to understand some mumbled line or just hundreth of a second precise timing of the subbed lines. Then at the end of the day no one remembers the subber if the subber doesn't otherwise write on a blog or something. This is why all boomer subbers have moved on, they just don't have the time.

>> No.22762477

>>22762437
Yep. Subbing is incredibly laborious and there's no real financial rewards or accolades other than the occasional "thx for subs."

If I had all the time in the world, I'd sub, but between work and raising a family, there's no way that I'd spend my remaining valuable time do what is essentially unpaid work.

People are just spoilt from being able to pirate anime subs for no charge. If people want their obscure stuff to be subbed, pay money and it will be subbed. Nothing is in danger of not being subbed - the moment you decide to actually offer something in reward for their time it will be done. But people, especially in the Japanese media community, are entitled and want everything for free.

DakaOshi episode 6.

Holy shit. This was incredibly hard to watch. I legitimately had to pause the episode every few seconds past a point because the tension was too high. I really liked that character, so seeing them slowly breakdown and get exposed in front of everybody was just really difficult to endure.

Subbers have moved on because, one, it's the kind of thing only dumb college students generally do, and two, the very easy material that 99% of all sub projects were based around is now freely available through simulcasts. Live action shows are generally much longer, and less popular overseas.

>>22762670
It's the same problem with a lot of the arts based fields, lots of people seriously expect artists to draw their requests for free because there's just so much art available out there for free.

The real problem with offering payment for subs is that it's a field with literally zero barrier to entry. The second people start paying for translations, inevitably all the slack will be taken up by ESLs who are willing to work for pennies because they're just pumping it through google translate and cleaning up the gibberish.

I completed watching everything on your list, thank you very much. My favorite was Dakara Watashi wa Oshimashita. It was very deep and impactful. Hana was so cute (and I cursed her at times).
Haken Uranaishi Ataru was comfy. I'm not sure if it's because the lead actress' acting was cute or the setting of the drama but I enjoyed it.

I will ask for recommendations by the end of 2020. Until then, everyone, please watch as many of dramas as you can lol.

Is there an archive of Gottsu Ee Kanji episodes? It's mostly pre-internet so I don't have high hopes that they've all been digitized. but whatever is available would be good.

Speaking of early 90s, any of you lads ever watched Ugo Ugo Ruuga? The most fucking insane children's show that has ever existed. The uploads on YouTube get taken down a lot, but they're honestly like nothing I've ever seen.
