Hello, I was playing Dies Irae while following the walkthrough. However it seems that there are some choices that don't appear for me. I assume this may be due to this being my first read. I was playing Amantes Amentes.

That or you picked one of the routes from the start and are locked out of choices that would lock you into a different route. It's been a while since I played so I don't remember quite how it works, but it's nothing to worry about unless you somehow managed to end up on the marie/rea routes as your first ones.

Hey there, have been reading Dies Irae for some days and I have the intention to be invested with Masada work.
The thing is, I came from the Type-Moon fandom, trying to find something that could fit a similar style and that also have no mobage relation. I heard that the guys failed on Pantheon once and thought it would a good idea to invest it.
But then, I heard that they are trying yet again to do Pantheon.
So, I have two questions here:
Do the Shinza Banshou fandom actually like the idea? Do you want really the FGO treatment and consequences?
The second one would be kinda unrelated: How much Silverio Saga is related to Shinza Banshou? Is it just a parent VN from the same publisher or does the universes share any foundation?

When people say they want Pantheon, they assume its going to be reformatted into a visual novel, which Masada said he was going to do in the event that the mobage failed. There's a lot of set up for Pantheon which makes it extremely interesting from a story standpoint but no one wants to see it in the form of a gacha and a never ending story.

He used another combination attack earlier on which used 2 defence buffs + flight + teleportation which resulted in attack called Hvarsed which causes a massive explosion via extremely high pressure and ultra fast oscillation. The explosion consists of a shit ton of fire and a massive shockwave which pulverises everything in the area into pieces

I'll go against the grain here and say that I wouldn't mind Pantheon becoming a gacha game - or rather, an RPG of some kind. A well-designed battle system can reinforce the narrative the same way music or voice acting does, and I'm personally a big fan of card game-like mechanics that let me combine different abilities in unexpected ways.

Bro you're messing with my narrative, but seriously.
I'll be honest with you anon. Pantheon coming out as a gacha is interesting in the sense what could possibly be available in terms of events and character interactions. I think I said this before, but I'm a big fan of the SoL scenes from Senshinkan and seeing the pantheon cast interacting with the various characters across thrones could be real fun.
HOWEVER, there are two big trade offs that I can think of. Number 1: We lose the descriptive writing of Masada, I'm a big fan of Masada's narrative writing and I feel like he's gotten much better at writing battle scenes since Dies Irae, they're less exhausting to read through and also a lot of the narrative lines from this chapter were just really fucking cool and got me extremely hyped even without a bgm track or art to associate it with

I don't know how Masada approached the Pantheon scripts but I can't imagine there was much in the narration department
The second big trade off is something that affects all sorts of mobage, you get a never ending story as long as the money piles in.
Pantheon had somethings going on for it which put it above most mobages, namely the fact that the main scenario would solely be written by Masada, each chapter would in equivalent length to Ikabey, characters would be fully voice acted, only one artist and a real good soundtrack. However that doesn't mean it wouldn't have gone down the predatory gacha route with fucked up rates and gay powercreeps with multiple versions of units being released, which Aeons were practically crafted to create an excuse for i.e based mainly on the protagonist's perception of the real thing. So if Pan-kun thought "Damn, I wonder what Muzan would be like if he wore a speedo and used a surfboard instead of that greatsword", and then you get a hyper limited Summer Muzan which powercreeps the original Muzan but then gets powercrept by Halloween slutty cat Mithra in 2 months. I might have digressed a bit but you get my point. Gacha games are extremely cancer but I can see the fun fan-service aspect as well.
Ideally I want a visual novel because I think that's the best possible medium for Masada to tell his stories. Although Avesta has been doing pretty well as a light novel so far, feels like Masada has had to refine his writing a bit in order to compensate for the lack of art and music

Speaking of which, there is a topic that's constantly getting brought up on the JP wiki about Muzan potentially being an amalgam of different characters, mostly because his Kajiri description fits Svirios so well and because of his similarities to Bahravan and Varhran (though the latter is not unusual with them being brothers). And in the last chapter it's revealed that his armor pulls him together when he's minced in half by Montserrat - and not even in the exact same shape he was initially. He's losing some part of himself and picks up something that wasn't originally there. He might as well be just a mass of flesh underneath.

The problem with the amalgam theory is that Muzan in the switch scenario is so clearly Magsarion, down to speech patterns, exact quotes, Kouha's narration, etc. Maybe you could argue Magsarion is the driving ego. He was also pretty clear in stating that he killed his own brother, which would be an odd thing to say if you're some sort of composite being, think Yato talking about Ren or Lotus as different beings. But the fact that he has 3 commandments, 3 characters have the N name ending, and Satanael saying how Muzan is like a blade, the more blood it spills the sharper does give it some ground.
But the fact that Mithra is so radically different between her Pantheon appearance and KKK description, I'm just inclined to say that those cultists were dead wrong on both counts.

2nd part of Chapter 3:

So first of all, our perspective shifts to Quinn, Samruhk and Ferdows, who are doing some charity work amongst Arzhang's population (yeah, they are here now). They've been there, doing that for 3 days already. Given the Oasis City is now devoid of Dragvant, including Kaikhosru's kenzoku that ruled the city (Quartz Princess Nadia), lots of people from outside Arzhang have been flocking into the city, seeking nourishment and refuge. However, even though the atmosphere should be happy and full of hope, it is somewhat bleak. After all, it's not like the citizens of Zahhak haven't experienced this particular situation before: respite before the brutal tyranny begins again. As it is, they are just waiting for the inevitable, living their lives with a crushed spirit, despairing even while in nice situations such as this.

While Samruhk acts like a forceful waitress when bringing food to the refugees, saying stuff like "the fuck's with those faces? You'd be eating", Quinn is a much more diligient waitress in comparison. The one who ordered them to do this was Zurvan who, of course, is not putting up with it at all. He just fucked off to some fancy looking estate, bottle of booze in his hand, while letting his "subordinates" do all the work. Of course, this is just one side of their job here. At nightfall, they begin patrolling the city for Dragvant, who might break into it. They are not speaking their minds aloud, rather, they are using Quinn's telepathy power as a sort of communications node. On the outside, they act like happy go lucky fools on an errand, while they discuss their true plans telepathically. This of course, has its reasons behind it: as Zahhak's Star Spirit, Kaikhosru can see everything happening on the planet, as well as hear everything. And for this mission, information disclosure is absolutely out of bounds, less their plan falls apart. Quinn specifically tells her two partners not to get their spirits up, as the swelling of their emotions is certainly putting a strain on her, which would reflect on her facial expressions, making them unnatural and clueing Kaikhosru in about something happening. Quinn would have a harder time including Zurvan in their little telepathic communications network, however, due to their link via Vohu Manah's feathers (which allows for expansion of the consciouness gap alignment's frame), coupled with the boost in performance offered by Quinn's Commandment if ordered to "do it", would easily allow for it.

While they patrol the streets, the three of them discuss some stuff, regarding Kaikhosru himself coming to take care of them, which would mean their annihilation, but that's unlikely due to Kaikhosru being typical overlord type who wouldn't move his ass from his throne. So it's more likely that a subordinate takes care of it: taking care of the garden is the job for the gardener, not the king. Or perhaps he'd just unleash a natural disaster and leave it at that. Their ideal plan (if they can't get any subordinate of Kaikhosru down there to get his attention) is the following: they become a pain in the ass for Kaikhosru, then Alma enters the scene and takes care of them, thereby promoting her into the ranks of Kaikhosru's Favourite Mistresses. The hopes are that, given there's no Mistress governing the place, Alma would get granted Nadia's rank and governance over Arzhang, granting the citizens of the place at least some kind of protection, as she's an undercover Yazata. Quinn, Samruhk and Ferdows would go wild on other cities, making Alma take care of them yet again, and therefore rising her status amongst the ranks of Kaikhosru's kenzoku, till she gets the chance to assassinate him, rip out the star's blessing from him and using it to resurrect the original Star Dragon, thus saving Zahhak and its inhabitants from ruin.

However, the plan does have some holes: one of them being Alma being forced to kill them as part of the plan. The others related to the fact that, if they kill Kaikhosru, they'd have to kill the other Archdemons in short order (one year, as we know from previous material), less successors actually take over their thrones. However, there's the positive side that Kaikhosru's death will bring an explosive increase in the number of Yazata: this is a phenomenon of the world's Law proved in Varhram's time. Same thing happened to the number of Daeva 20 years ago, when the Star Cluster of Extinction destroyed the original Wahman Yast. A suggestion comes up: if they are to rampage, they could take care of Kaikhosru's Mistresses as well. This would make Alma's job that much easier too. However, Quinn rises an objection to that, as it won't be easy, given all of the Mistresses are Class One Daeva on average, thus, really powerful. To illustrate, the issue of the Daeva in Layley's village gets brought up: it was a Class Two Daeva, and that one already gave them plenty of trouble (Samruhk looks at the nice souvenir she got from the son of a bitch: her prothesical limbs). On top of that, Kaikhosru's absolute favourite, who's also been involved with him since before he became an Archdemon, the Dragon Jewel Princess, is a Special Class Daeva, one of the 4 known to exist. This means she's a Quasi Archdemon, and her probability of becoming a successor is really high.

In fact, not too many people have managed to kill Class One Daeva in Wahman Yast's history: those they are most familiar with who have done it are Varhram and Nahid. They bring up that maybe Magsarion or Zurvan have also managed to kill some of them, but no, they haven't: it is Alma who's done such a feat, in fact, she's killed a grand total of 5 Class One Daeva, a feat of killing a superior opponent to herself that puts her exploits nearing Varhram's league. This opens up a discussion regarding Alma's "trump card", with Samruhk having caught wind of it and feeling really down and sorry for her. She says that a Commandment that allows her to do such a thing like twisting Avesta recognition (described as a kind of pseudo-Tentsui last chapter), essentially distorting instinct, must come with immensely heavy shackles, while giving enormous benefits. Quinn reasures her by telling her no Yazata truly understands Alma's secret. They are all amazed at her courage: to be surrounded by Dragvant all the time, for them it'd be like constantly swimming in a sea of mud. Plus, she's got Sirius' total trust. There's also discussion of saving at least 100 of Arzhang's citizens (that's the amount they can teleport at any rate) by taking them to Wahman Yast, much like they'd do with Yazata recruits. However, as logical as it may be, it is risky: as humans born in Kaikhosru's body, they carry his stench and he'd be able to track them down through the teleportation path, thereby locating Wahman Yast and putting them in severe danger.


Now, a chill runs down Quinn's spine. When asked (and she evaluates the thing to be worse than a Daeva or Kaikhosru himself), she says Magsarion has teleported onto Arzhang just now... and that what he's likely to try is no good. Basically, kill the innocent citizens from Arzhang en masse, which means he's spoiling Kaikhosru's toys, thus sending him an open challenge letter. Thus, they take up the determination to stop him. Ferdows orders Quinn to teleport them where Magsarion is, as he used the same teleportation path they used, that means the place he's in is known to them, so they can teleport there. However, no matter how stronger her colleagues' prayer is, Quinn's priority order won't allow it, as Sirius' orders regarding accomplishing the mission still take full effect. She cannot afford to waste a feather when Magsarion's method, beyond its inmorality, is technically valid. And after a humorous scene regarding Ferdows' Magsarion fanboyism and Samruhk, they go running after him. And when they just got a sight of his back, the unexpected happens: an arrow of light coming from a nearby building's roof hits Magsarion, and he vanishes shortly after. The team takes little time to guess this is Zurvan's doing, he used long range Star Spirit Divine Blessing on Magsarion, an advanced technique none of them can use, to teleport him somewhere else, from a distance. Given they know how Zurvan is like, Quinn severely doubts this was an act of goodness to save innocent civilians. At Samruhk's order, she synchronizes her mind with Zurvan's to know what's going on.

The scene shifts to the interior of Zurvan's estate, Magsarion is just in front of him, exuding enormous killing intent while not saying anything. Quinn's synchronized with Zurvan already, who's holding a bottle of booze in his left hand, offering Magsarion some of it. He says nothing. Zurvan seems not to mind the overbearing atmosphere at all, seemingly amused, as if he were a child playing some kind of game. He begins teasing Magsarion, saying that, in 10 years they've known each other, he's never seen his barebones face at all. In fact, even though at that time he didn't have that armor, he still covered his face. He speculates whether he covers his face because he's ugly, wounded, or because of his Commandment. Upon remembering that Alma is his childhood friend, he says he'll use the opportunity to ask her, as he doubts Magsarion had an iron mask on him when he was a brat. Magsarion, deeming the entire conversation a waste of time, turns his back on Zurvan to leave, pretending not to see him at all. However, Zurvan instantly points his gun at him (in an insane quickdraw move, he basically shifted his alcohol bottle to his right hand and then picked up his gun instantaneously, even Quinn who had synchro'd her 5 senses to Zurvan's couldn't tell). He urges him not to leave just yet, and to listen. What Zurvan has to say is merely derived from his intuition, which makes Magsarion stay there and listen.

We now get some exposition by Quinn, who's very much interested in the conversation between the ace class Yazata. Commenting on Magsarion's secretivity, she says Zurvan's not one to talk. The two of them, plus Alma, are easily the most secretive out of Wahman Yast's important people. Samruhk and Ferdows are listening to the conversation through Quinn, and they of course are outraged when Zurvan says his scooping up Magsarion is just part of a game to pass time to him. Then, of course, we get lectured on guns: using them is a implict taboo within Wahman Yast, so this is another reason why Zurvan is seen as a heretic/disliked person. In essence, even though they are an incredibly good substitute for regular weapons, they make all training and personal strength redundant. They are easy to use, can be used by anyone, and have great power to kill, and the Yazata believe they rot one's soul, but not out of naive spiritualism. Zurvan informs Magsarion of the conflicting emotions boiling inside Zahhak's population (and I guess Arzhang in particular): wanting to die while still hoping for salvation, living their life while embracing salvation and despair at the same time. Magsarion asks him if he's really speaking of "the Bridge of Separation". Zurvan confirms it, these conflicting emotions might just open up the way that leads to the "garden". And at that time, the "Saws" will come, and their feast will begin. Thus, chaos will be unleashed, something Zurvan loves. Quinn suddenly notices the excitement in Zurvan's mind while speaking of this, much like a child's in nature. Yet, she also notices underlying bitterness under it all, which gets exposed as Zurvan rants on the way their world works: this clean division into Black and White. He'd pretty much prefer a Chaos in which everything gets mumbled up, a rant to which Magsarion tells him he's just delusional (the main team is as puzzled by Zurvan's speech as Magsarion is). Seeing he doesn't understand, Zurvan gulps down his bottle again. As Magsarion has agreed to wait for 3 days till Zurvan's intuition gets fulfilled, the gunslinger himself tells Magsarion to go wild once that happens, as he's just the best Chaos out of all of them. Magsarion asks Zurvan one last question... where the fuck did you come from? Upon hearing this, Zurvan laughs and the connection cuts.

Though the three of them are dissatisfied by having to cut the conversation at that point, Quinn disengaged just out of priorities: an enemy has appeared, thus Quinn asks her partners to prepare for battle. The enemy is at the city's entrance, it still hasn't gotten past it. Ferdows suggests intercepting it right there, before the enemy can even step into Arzhang. The group, akin to a gale, quickly reach Arzhang's gate. The enemy, slow in its walk, seems not to desire a fight within the city, so as to not spoil Kaikhosru's treasure. Plus its calmness makes Quinn think this will be a difficult fight. Now at least, their interest coincides with the Dragvant's, and she won't complain due to this meaning there's no danger in the citizens getting injured. Upon arriving, Quinn, Samruhk and Ferdows jump over the gate. Upon landing on solid ground, they prepare for battle, as "that" was standing 20 metres before their line of sight. It was a woman, as confirmed by Samruhk, shocked at the sight. Ferdows grimaced, while Quinn felt ill. It was akin to a staggering, wriggling and broken scarecrow, walking over to them. It produced physical disgust, nothing to do with Avesta's Dualism. One had to wonder how that could even be alive, it certainly had a human type build of a petite stature similar to Ferdows', but its entirety was turned inside out. It had no skin to speak off, its muscles, internal organs and fat were right there to see, it was a shambling corpse that had being surely subjected to torture, as such a body wouldn't be natural. The group speculates it is the previous Daeva running Arzhang, subjected to Kaikhosru's wrath and punished (but Nadia was turned into precious stones...) and that she plans to clear her name now, then to return to normal. Their speculation about it being the previous Mistress that ran Arzhang hits a hard stop because, even if the thing is unmistakeably a Dragvant, it looks flimsy as fuck. Even though it is ugly, that's it. It's menace and pressure are too low for a former Class One Daeva but again, it is possible that's due to the torture. The enemy produces an enormous whirlwind that would surely have killed Quinn, if Samruhk hadn't saved her.

The enemies' scariness turns up to eleven when it shows its weapon (which produced the whirlwind), a scythe (Deathscythe, named much like Lot's weapon in Paradise Lost). It's a simple tool, effective and easy to use, not some piece of Overtechnology. And yet, even though Quinn knows of her father's artifices, she is insanely afraid of this weapon. And that's because what makes this Deathscythe scary is the amount of "history" dwelling it it... it's murder career. It's a weapon that has engage in countless murders, possessing the stench of blood, the density of the death agony contained inside was insane, it was akin to a different world in of itself. Far from deteriorating like a random tool, it's become a lump of grief capable of warping dimensions. The Scythe was, itself, a Daeva in its own right. Though soon after, Ferdows tells his partners that he's going to face the enemy alone, and that'd he'd be okay, as today's a good day. Seeing that both his mates accept his decision, Ferdows charges against the enemy, his movement producing a explosion in the atmosphere, as if it were bursting open, along with a soaring shockwave and an enormous sand cloud as after effects. His speed has surely gone into the region of thunderclaps. Quinn guesses today's "speed day". In a single moment, the arms of the enemy are cut, making it lose the Deathscythe. In an instant, Ferdows had already run several hundreds of metres, while displaying his sword technique at ultra high speeds. Quinn and Samruhk's eyes couldn't follow him, his speed had already surpassed that of sound several dozens of times, and perhaps that was just the beginning. The astonished Samruhk asks Quinn if Fer is using Magsarion's trick from the time they were at Layley's village, that is, the bug using Vohu Manah's blessing, but Quinn answers this has nothing to do with that. Quinn says this power grants him speed that, unlike Magsarion's, won't destroy the entire area he's in (needless destruction), that allows him to thrust at impossible gaps, and that it allows for clean, pure and direct running. Plus, it doesn't have adverse side effects like Magsarion's stunt, which would destroy him if he didn't wear his armor. Quinn, aware of his partner's Commandment, says he's not limited to raising his speed, he possesses a total of 7 killer moves, however he's restricted to using one per day, going with his birthplace's calendar. And given both Wahman Yast and Zahhak's calendars are different to that one, he always carries a special watch with him to tell him which day it is. Ferdows finishes the enemy off by throwing it to the sky, jumping and cutting it into pieces right there, while it shrieks, and a thunderous roar (product of his jump) accompanies the scene. Once everything's said and done, the group has also managed to save a little girl, approximately of 13-14 years old, from this horror: her name is Marika, and she was coming to Arzhang with her family, but it seems she's lost them. Quinn manages to get from her that she grew up in a loving home, and that she's a lovely little girl, though she's inmensely hungry and her stomach roars, which causes Samruhk to laugh. They return to Arzhang's interior alongside Marika, while also noticing the Deathscythe banished. They rationalize it was Kaikhosru taking back his treasure, lent to his underling.

The chapter shifts perspectives again... this time it's Alma who's the PoV character. She's inside a room made of gold, shining so bright it hurts her eyes, enveloped in the smell of roses. While her body is being bruised, lots of women praise her beauty around her, her youth, while declaring their envy, their voices (coming from gemstone dragons) being gorgeous and lovely whispers, with bewitching charm. Just from hearing it, Alma's mind got hazy and her brain was threatened with collapse from all the sweetness and obscenity. The scene could be likened to the song of goddesses inhabiting Paradise, leading anyone who listened to them to depravity. No voice there was unfavourable to her, however, there was no single woman there praising her from the bottom of her heart. They were each omitting words, they were welcoming her... as a subordinate, one who's lower in rank than them. None of the 16 women here believed in anything else but in the supremacy of their own beauty. Thinking akin to highborn noblewoman, their supremacy was akin to Law coming from heaven to them. The love shown to her was warped, akin to the enjoyement an insect'd get while drowing in a sea of honey. Alma returned to caring for her body. She didn't care for the love or scorn of those calling themselves her "older sisters", she had an important goal to accomplish therefore, she just had to focus on sharpening her limbs, on being beautiful (text now proceeds to described Alma's perfectly balance physique in full). Her body's beauty is a tool for her job, after all. However, Alma asks if the Dragon Jewel Princess will be coming. The others say their eldest sister is busy, and they haven't met with her in a long time, and that it is impossible that Alma will be seeing her soon. All these dragons represent Kaikhosru's Mistresses of course, only missing the recently deposed Quartz Princess, and the Dragon Jewel Princess, out of 18. When further asked for the location of their eldest sister, the others answer Alma in harsh tones. Though an ace class Yazata, Alma bows her head to these Daeva. She feels no humilliation from it at all. She thinks of how important for her task is to have the Dragon Jewel Princess under vigilance, as she is a Special Class Daeva fit to be an Archdemon's successor.

She dresses up, leaves the bathroom and heads to share an Archdemon's bed. For the sake of becoming one of his Favourite Mistresses. For the sake of killing him. For the sake of justice and victory. Alma's Commandment is simple, she can only ever have sex with Dragvant men in her lifetime. Thus in exchange for abandoning the possibility of love and happiness as an Ashavan woman, she gets a terrific power. This is something none of her comrades can imagine, as even though Dragvant can engage into rape, consented sex between individuals belonging to different aligments is nonexistent in this universe ruled by Avesta's Dualism, a world in which even pregnant women and their fetus can kill each other. But something like that not being rape, but consented snuggling up to Evil and opening up of one's body, with a smile and coquetry included, is the greatest of disgraces and humilliations, which she has to mask in order to truly reach ecstasy's height, acting not being involved. Through this penance, Alma gets the absolute right to kill the man in question. Once the ideal process has gone by, no matter how strong this person is, both methods and killing distance is free, even if several thousands of light years separate both. While doing the deed, she'd be consumed by self hatred, and after everything's done, by soul crushing pain and regret. The polishment of her beauty has become akin to polishing a weapon, which is what she sees herself as. A weapon to exterminate all Evil, and create a world ruled by Good. She has stopped seeing herself as a woman. After losing her purity, puking and crying/screaming numerous times, this is all she amounts to now.

Kaikhosru tells her to enter. Before entering the king's chambers, Alma checks on her sword (her body), and prepares to enter her battlefield, ready to kill that man, flashing a smile all the way through. Upon entering, she's welcomed by the malicious smile of Archdemon Kaikhosru, who stands upon a pile of golden treasures... what he has transmuted his victims into. Kaikhosru is a rough, manly, good looking man, one that can snatch the souls of any women just with his looks. Even Alma's mind, possessed of a strong spirit of self denial, gets hazed by his beauty. The two begin having sex, and it's a long winded sex scene full of flowery language that I am not going to discuss. The critical point comes when Kaikhosru's gonna stick it in, and Alma (who's had trouble keeping composure due to Kaikhosru being a beast in bed) feels her victory approaching. However... something goes awry. Kaikhosru asks if she's ever had sex with a man from Wahman Yast, but quickly says she couldn't have, as that would run opposite to her Commandment. Alma loses her composure that instant. Wondering since when had he seen through her cover, she jumps back, but Kaikhosru seizes her arm and begins gently caressing her, a glimpse of pity in his voice. Speaking of love, he says he doesn't really care if Alma is an assassin, and tells her she will end up really loving him, just like the rest. He says that (and Alma seems to be seriously hurt by that), if the man Alma truly loves doesn't love her back, he won't let a woman of her caliber just rot away.
