Yoshika is a literal Jiangshi, a reanimated zombie corpse from Chinese folklore. Miko’s original body is dead and she’s in a new one. Myouren is dead, which freaked Byakuren out and made her fear death. The Hieda lineage. Fortune Teller. Murasa is basically the Flying Dutchman, and all ghosts are by default dead.

They died before the solidification of the present, part of their backstories, not in the present. Guess that's the rephrase, they haven't died in the present day, modern timeline, in our timeline since the games and manga have been released.

And when you create a fictional story, it’s assumed all the characters you create are alive by default. Because how is a dead character supposed to interact with an alive character? They’re dead. How are you supposed to create a 2hu boss in-game that fights back against Reimu if they’re dead? If that character was created to be dead in the first place, then they become backstory like Myouren.

Or are you arguing that never in the 2hu series has a character ever died before? Like Reimu actually killing another youkai? That’s irrelevant since the original argument was whether or not a 2hu CAN die, as in they’re not dead yet. But they’ll die eventually. And I’m pretty sure only Eirin, Mokou, and Kaguya will be the only ones around to see the Heat Death of the universe.

The Lunarians will survive to see the heat death of the universe and beyond, due to how advanced they are. Gensokyo will survive to see the heat death of the universe and beyond, through the combined efforts of Yukari and the Lunarians. What's stopping them from surviving? The universe is the material world, anyway, and just that, our plane of existence, which Gensokyo exists parralel but separately to. They'll bypass it, maybe even toy with it, the Lunarians. Time is strange in Gensokyo anyway, our time, at least, in relation to them. What's stopping every Touhou from being functionally immortal, even the human Touhous, because of time's strange relations? I refuse to believe these perfect examples of life would perish before the death of the universe, or even, to perish after it. That's our thing, we imperfect lives.
