I got the first two RTK books and I only made it like 100 pages through the first one because I found android apps that do the same thing only better.

There are two flashcard apps on my phone right now with minimal/no ads that have all of the kanji on them, how to pronounce them, their english meanings and what radicals they are comprised of. It even quizzes me on the situational uses of the word.

So RTK is great if you absolutely must learn by book, but there are apps that can teach you the same information, but faster. For reference I am 2 semesters into japanese class and I'm at about an N5 level. So that's my learning background so far.

Is it possible to make Kindle instant dictionary lookup to be as convenient as edict2/Jparser/Translation Aggregator? I think Jade Reader has implemented that kind of lookup. With kindle, you often have to lookup the base kanji instead of its conjugated form so there's quite a lot of noise in the lookup result. The Japanese definitions also sometimes feel too abstract.

Should I be looking at some other paid dictionaries (is edict2 available?).
Or converting kindle books to text/html and reading them with Jade Reader?
