Kotomine isnt a villain at all. A villain has to be evil. You should want to hate a villain. I didnt hate Kotomine at all.

He didnt come off to me as evil, nor did he come off as righteous. He was just... there, doing his part to win the war, just like everyone else.

I hated Shinji more than Kotomine. Does that make Shinji a better villan? No. It makes him more of a cunt, but villans dont have to be unlikeable. Kotomine was fundamentally wrong down to a very basic level, this made him evil and he caused the events in F/SN for entertainemnt, but he was always likeable. This in my opinion made him a grade A villan.

Kotomine tried hard to ensure that Angra Mainyu was released from the Grail, even though that would put the entire planet in danger. He did this solely to ensure that a being of pure darkness would come into existence. He wanted to do so so in order to understand his own black heart of evil.

He defeated and mutilated Bazette in order to gain control of Lancer in the fifth Heavens Feel.

During the fourth Heavens Feel Kotomine was the Master of Assassin, whose alignment is evil. Like often calls to like in the act of summoning.

At the end of the fourth Heavens Feel he used the Holy Grail to kill as many people as possible, causing a city-wide conflaguration.

He wanted to give the Grail to Shirou or Rin just to see how the polluted Grail would creatively interpret their wishes to their regret.
Kotomine is a sociopath who uses others for his own pleasure, and he'd kill you without hesitation if you tried to obstruct him.
