I'm not the same person, but I'd just like to say that I've beaten all the other modern Touhous on hard and beaten all their extra stages, yet I still can't 1cc SA normal. Almost every card and noncard that Orin and Utsuho have rape me, so it doesn't even matter if I get lucky and reach Orin with 7 or 8 lives, as has happened several times, I just get raped. It's just..incredibly depressing.

Just get more familiar with it. I'm not even close completing any extras yet and usually fail at 1ccing normal for most games, but don't have a particularly harder time with SA than the others, and now only lose a life or two on Orin's stage.

Except for Yukari, yes, but to be fair, I've put much more practice into beating Flandre than I have into Orin and Utsuho. Plus, an extra is roughly the length of two stages, so stupid mistakes don't hurt you nearly as much, and getting blindsided is my main problem in Touhou.
I don't see why you think THAT'S the unbelievable part of my post, either, since I found the EoSD and MoF hard 1CCs much harder than any of the extras.

Ah. I don't find that there is a lot of memorization needed on normal though (I won't comment on higher difficulties or extras). Mostly it's knowing generally how certain types of bullets react/move instead of memorizing intricate patterns.
