Oh, no doubt time in the game hasn't obviously passed like in reality. Never actually played the series, but pretty much the majority of the games, besides the onsen lady's story, are a story told within the game. So it could very easily be that this new Biman story has not had very much time pass at all since Biman 1. I was just making a fourth wall meta level joke about how a girl that looks like Renge would probably be legal or in her early twenties by now if time worked the same way for the game's story. I was fond of Milk Factory's last game, so I went into Chou Ero Appli expecting to like it, and I was not disappointed. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Chou Ero Appli has reached the level of "perfect nukige". The game has absolutely, undoubtedly, one hundred percent perfected the art of the nukige with this title (which mostly carries over design from the past game to be fair).

I can basically just list off everything the game does well.. It has lightning fast pacing that utterly prevents boredom. The opening of the game blasts you through character introductions and sets the stage up well. Being able to select which heroine you want to see the H-scenes of prevents frustrated waiting for your favourite heroine or skipping through heroines you like less. The between-chapter bits adds cohesion to the whole and allows multiple heroines to show up at once. The sprite sex is as charming as it was before. The art is absolutely fucking gorgeous, with higher production values than almost any other nukige I can think of. There's a ton of optional features that enhance the experience like updates on how much / how the heroines are masturbating (pic related, small character building like mentioning how this heroine masturbates every day the MC gropes her tits). The animated h-scenes are once again pretty good and a level above what many nukige devs are willing to do. The variety in heroines is top-tier and each is good in their own way. Design stealing is hilarious and good.

Basically, the game oozes sex out of every pore and there's basically no downtime whatsoever. You can instantly access the content you want while playing a game that looks good and has a ton of charming features. I honestly think this is as perfect as a nukige can get. It's a legitimate solid ten out of ten.

Now, that's not to say the game is free of flaws. I know I know, I used the word "perfect", but these are subjective flaws I'm talking about here. First, the H-scene dialogue is pretty lukewarm. I feel like the prior game did a somewhat better job of having the h-scene dialogue be entertaining, whereas this game basically just gives up - some of the time the MC is literally going like "okay..." "I'm going to cum..." "Yeah..." in the most bored tone imaginable. The reason I call this a subjective flaw is because in 99% of nukige, h-scene dialogue is basically filler and most players (even Japanese) skim/skip through it. Chou Ero Apply basically just follows this trend and honestly boring h-scene dialogue can be seen as a positive in that you don't feel compelled to read all of it. Second, the lack of a plot can be seen as a flaw. No game in Chou Ero Appli's image will ever reach the *same* heights that plot-heavy nukige like Isaku, Gatenkei, Monster Girl Quest, Josei Kazoku 3, etc reached. But that's fine. Different games have different strengths and they are simply climbing to the peak of different mountains.

In conclusion, Chou Ero Appli is a perfect nukige that has reached the height of the medium. It has some subjective flaws that mean not everyone will agree with this (especially if they don't like big tits), but overall it is a fantastically sexy game that's fun, inventive, and just a fucking fun time. Absolutely top tier, 10/10.

I don't think I can make a huge blogpost thread about the new MF game. Firstly, because 4chan sucks for the sheer level of autism I put into that one thread. Secondly, because honestly my japanese is very poor. I hope I didn't give anyone the illusion that my japanese was ever good in that thread (like some folks who tried to translate EroMahou and were praising me like I did something amazing when it was very barebones summary and copy/paste of juicy lines most of the time). As, if I recall right, I did on occasion ask for clarity on some lines.

it's hardly nitpicking. CGs are basically one of the biggest components of nukige, and one of the biggest factors in making them fappable. to half ass that is to half ass a huge part of the game. normally I'm not one to fret over CG variants, but milkfactory and squeez games take it to a whole other level in terms of laziness on this front. they clearly know how shit it is because they start half of the scenes with a cropped version of the CG to avoid having to draw a sexless version of them. every single scene in the game is affected by this, and it puts it well below virtually every other nukige on the market in terms of fappability for me, which is a big blow considering the game really doesn't strive for anything beyond that.

on another note, I've also got to say that the gimmick feels really poorly realized this time round, which is bizarre considering the original eroappli did a far better job with it. the whole draw of the magic smartphone is being able to force the girls into unique and erotic situations, but most of them are extremely uncreative and play out the same way, and what's more is this time round the app itself feels almost completely unnecessary since every character is basically willing to fuck the protagonist from the getgo. far too many of the scenes have already started with the characters being about to fuck when the app kicks in and ultimately changes nothing. I don't think it was a good decision to have the protagonist be known by the entire cast by the start of this game; while it lets them get to the sex faster, that also isn't really wasn't a problem that needed fixing. the amount of story and just regular character interactions has gotten smaller with each game by these guys, and it's baffling to me that they keep going in this direction. at this point, all the main characters feel like side characters because you basically don't know shit about them. their next game might as well just completely ditch the whole concept of main/side characters and just have 30 "main" heroines.

I've played a lot of nukige in my day, and I can say one thing safely: Nukige characters suck. Outside of the ones with actual good writers like I mentioned (gatenkei etc etc), most nukige writers are writing nukige for a reason: They aren't good. I cannot tell you how many nukige I have found skull-fuckingly boring because they just drag out the most fucking mundane plot and characterization in the most terrible way. I wholeheartedly welcome Milk Factory's approach as an objective improvement on how most nukige handled it in the past, i.e. by being boring as fuck and wasting the reader's time. Most nukige are just unbearably boring. A bad writer spending an extra 5 non-sex scenes on a nukige character isn't going to make them a great character that enhances the sex, it's going to bore the absolute fuck out of me because the writer sucks ass. I honestly think criticizing Milk Factory games for the amount of story/characterization reflects a degree of dishonesty. I can't imagine a human being out there who plays a bunch of nukige and doesn't either skip the plot or wish they were, because holy fuck are 95% of nukige boring as shit. Personally I see Milk Factory pacing as God's gift to me for sitting through so many boring ass nukige, finally giving me one that doesn't waste my fucking time with a shitty writer's prattling.

but it's not "just a few lines at the start". it's a problem prevalent throughout the entire scene. the scenes are drawn with CG variations for "dick inside," "cumming," and "post-ejaculation" and that's basically it. for every fucking scene. that's not how they're written, there are far more phases to a sex scene than that, with characters expressions changing, foreplay, and speed/intensity changes. none of that is accounted for in the art, and it's fucking appalling. and I'm gonna have to disagree; milkfactory's art is not good enough to justify that laziness. there's also less than a dozen animated scenes.

I can assure you, I've played a lifetime's worth of nukige, and I wholeheartedly disagree. the criteria for judging nukige characters vs characters in other fiction should be completely different, since they serve very different purposes. nukige isn't intended to be viewed as art or provide compelling characters; it's designed to be erotic. not every nukige succeeds and a lot of them go down the misguided path of trying to write good characters, but the games that let you get to know a character, and want to fuck them go a long way to making the sex more erotic. milkfactory used to be one developer that actually understood this, and their older games, like shintai sokutei gave their characters non-sex screentime in a way that focused purely on setting them up for the sex. the heroines in that game actually feel like distinct characters rather than the same person multiplied by ten with a different design. it made sense for them to be called "main" characters, because they had a hefty amount of focus and their own fucking endings. now, the main chracters literally have the same amount of depth as any of the random side girls, and once again we have only one ending for the copy-paste black haired main girl. cutting out all of the text so as not to bore people who don't want to read it is moronic, considering the game has a fucking scene gallery that one can just download a save for, as well as the ctrl key, and the ability to just outright skip to the next decision, aka. the sex scene selection screen. they solved a problem that doesn't exist, and it came at the cost of the whole point of having this many characters.

Ah, I was focusing more on the beginning since you used it as your main example. I agree that the CG differences are lacking, but I definitely feel the quality of the art and quantity of the scenes are enough to forgive it. I'm used to CG 差分 being flawed, especially when playing older nukige that literally don't have 差分 at all and just use the one CG with no changes. It could be better, but it doesn't really impact me that much I think. So much so I didn't even think to comment on it.

Personally I'm not a fan of nukige designed around the player skips through long stretches of incredibly boring writing. I would put the number of games that can be described as the games that successfully characterize a character well enough to meaningfully impact the H-scenes to be close to 5%. A vast, vast minority. You mention the main heroines of these games basically being random side girls, same person multiplied, etc, but the same absolutely holds true for most nukige, it's just disguised behind 100 years of boring writing that one has to fight to not fall asleep reading.

Now, I get what you're saying. I'm fond of the Taimanin series and generally Lilith games do a good job of making compelling characters, i.e. characters that compel you to fuck them. No character in a Milk Factory game will ever have the memorable sex appeal as Asagi, Sakura, Ingrid, etc. But the number of nukige out there that reach Lilith's level (or at least the level they used to be at) is microscopic. The majority of them would be way, way better off following Milk Factory's style and just cutting out the bullshit. They're going to be writing cardboard cutouts for characters anyway, they might as well not waste my time pretending to characterize them.

This is not true. Some games do, but plenty also don't. Many games with multiple writers also just split the writing by route. I personally find that I enjoy games with a single writer the most.

I've been looking forward to this one a lot, seems like Miel always saves their best games for the end of the year. Judging from the first scene this game is going to be pretty promising and pretty fun. Basically the MC gets summoned in by the Maou as an evil god meant to defeat the Mother and Daughter hero team. In the first scene the MC uses a pair of village girls as hostages to get to Lucia. Talking of Miel, having playing their old games i can see how much they have grown.
Tech wise they havent really: the same engine and the same ost of today's games except in a bigger resolution.
The art as expected looks far less refined but some artists that we dont see anymore (Wonder why they left) gives them an unique look in their catalog.
Ishii art is still good but T-28 really came a long way from those days. I will say that i think Akira girls looked cuter before, most current girls are hotter but lack that innocent look that goes well with corruption.
Also before they found the Kimonen demo harem formula which is their gold mine they used to do rather darker games: game about a mother and her daughter and niece are forced to serve men for the onsen's sake, a man who hates women joins a government program that allows him to enact revenge on women, an underground group corrupting women and make them real niku benkis for public use, NTR where the protag despairs as he watches how his sisters and childhood friends get raped and corrupted (Via the net, meaning the time to act has already passed), etc.
Its clear the difference between Miel before Kimonen and after it, the harem/vanilla genre really worked pretty well for Miel as so has the Isekai genre given that before harem guild current era settings were their prefered one which gives me hope for some futuristic scenarios with sci fi or Sentai.

Anyways old games had their charm but i clearly prefer their current output.
Hope we see some current settings though, i want them to make a Mesu Kyoushi game. Akira is at his best making babas in my opinion.

I've only ever played Honoo no Haramase Jinsei and Honoo no Haramase Oppai, Ero Appli Gakuen. Jinsei is pretty well done. Great 2000s animation quality. Enjoyable story.
