Okay, just finished that torrent of patched Idolmaster SP that was put up here, and like the vanilla version I patched myself before, all three versions won't work. I get the usual PSP logo, then a blank screen that I have to take out the battery to reset for. Anyone who can help me? I've already set it to M33 NO-UMD and enabled Plain Modules in UMD/ISO and Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO.

If it helps, this is a 1000 model bought in Japan, originally came with 1.50.

Do I still need one of those special batteries to use custom firmware or did someone invent a new way?

If you already have CFW just update.

But if you don't, since you have a fat PSP you actually have quite a bit more options than someone with a slim. Go look it up on google or something.

Thanks, but my box is at my parent's house. It's not a 3000 but it's relatively new.

Ouch. Hopefully you don't have a TA-88v3 motherboard because that's unmoddable. Anyways, what you want to do is get a pandora battery. Whether it's from a friend or you order one of those "Datel TOOL Batteries" doesn't matter.

Then you want to create a magic memory stick using a program such as PSPGrader which is what you'll use to install CFW. It's a fairly standard procedure and you can find more detailed guides all over the internet, but I'll just go over the basic steps right now;

1. Create your Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick.
2. Insert memory stick. And then insert the battery while holding down the L trigger.
3. Create a NAND back-up.
4. Install CFW 5.00 M33.
5. Convert your Pandora Battery back to normal. Format your memory stick if you'd like to remove the installer and such.
6. Turn off your PSP, and hold R while starting it up to go into recovery mode. Go to Configuration and set it to No UMD Mode.
7. Congrats, you can now run your FILES.

Early Madden PSPs were hackable but the more recent batches got the TA-88v3 I believe.

Thanks, the only part that used to give me pause was whether or not the datel tool batteries were safe to use. None of my friends have a fat psp so it was my only route.
