OK, so I've been a Tsukihime fan for years and such, but I've never played Melty Blood and know next to nothing about it.

I'm planning to check out MBAC just for fun, so I'm looking for any good beginner tips (such as if some characters are "better" for a beginner, how I should start to hone my skills, ...).

to be really honest, there's very little a guide can teach you beyond combos and maybe some blockstrings.

if there's one thing that needs to be hammered into every newbie's brain it's that you NEED TO BLOCK, and for the most part BLOCK LOW BECAUSE ALMOST ALL GROUND ATTACKS ARE MID/LOW.

AND DON'T MASH POKE OUT OF BLOCK.

BLOCK IS VERY GOOD IN MELTY BECAUSE THROWS ARE WEAK AND THERE IS NO CHIP DAMAGE DEATH.

And don't superjump aaaaaaaa at people because you're just going to get airthrown.

1. Get yourself a controller you'd will get yourself comfortable with (PAD or Joysticks)
2. Choose a character you feel you'd like to get comfortable with.
3. Learn BnB (Bread and Butter) combos, which you should be able to find on Youtube or any Meltan Fan sites.
4. Learn possible blockstrings, mix-ups, any special attack properties, frame rate, etc.
5. Practice character's movements. It tends to help knowing how far your character jumps, dash, airdash, so forth.

From 1-3, you should be able to do decent in playing against a handful of people...

So I'm checking out a move list, and there are a LOT of special moves listed for some characters (such as Ciel) compared to some others (such as Akiha). Is this actually the case, or is this list incomplete? What is a good move list?

>> No.2232694

>>2232690
In some cases, characters can use the same command input during a jump or during ANOTHER special move, and it will result in a different one.

Ciel has the most moves in that regard.

Pick Ciel
Throw keys after flaming keys after EX keys after flaming keys. While you are in the air!
Throw some more when you land; 214AB when they try to jump at you and the 214BAAB-'loop' when they just block to get free circuit for some more EX key spam.
5AAA6AAA236C combo for (almost) free and fast >3k damage if you don't know better combos.
Her AAD looks cool; use it.
22B also is great when they jump at you, as it is unblockable in the air.
22A (into 22C) on wakeup; usually works when your enemy is mashing 2A or some very slow stuff.
Always do an airthrow when you superjump. Mash the throw button if you see them doing something to shield it and do the throw.
If your opponent is a newbie, 6236[C] him on wakeup für some lulz. Flaming keys are always very fun to use, too.
ALWAYS double/tripple EX Hiero when you are in max (unles the first one is blocked), because most people tend to tech out of them.
2B is THE move. Use it in every situation. 4C is also nice sometimes.
Bunker canceling into EX Keys is very easy to do and does over 3k damage.

Enjoy winning.
