>> No.22332779

Come on anon thats not necessary to say.

Anyway, Yukkuri. if they did suddenly exist, how do you think people would react? Especially Touhou fans and people that know ZUN? Questions and theories would pop up on how these creations popped into real life despite being fiction based off pre existing fiction. It would be very confusing indeed. Would people think Yukkuri existed only because the idea existed in our world beforehand, or did the idea somehow enter into the subconscious from stray information of another universe?

>> No.22332804

Some Yukkuri rights organization would certainly pop up and the ethics of keeping these relatively intelligent creatures as pets would be called to question. The governments of developed nations will likely try to hide their existence as well. Some fans may try to obtain Yukkuris to live out their abuse fantasies. Others would try to raise them lovingly as precious companions like one would with a cat.

>> No.22332805

I'm more concerned on how Yukkuris would affect the ecosystem. They could probably eat entire species out of existence, and I don't think bean paste would be very attractive to predators.

>> No.22332829

Are there really that many people who'd do that, I mean most who abuse online only do so in jest, no matter how much they discuss it, when it comes down to it, talking and chatting about violent actions to fictional creatures and then being okay with yourself to do it to the same creatures if they were to actually truly exist will always have a huge divide between each other.

But I mean yeah sociopaths exist so it would ofcourse still happen.

I'd want to see if I could get one to watch anime with me.

otherwise i can't help but see them as anything but bottom of the food chain fodder, altho in the wild i'm sure the majority of their diet would be insects
one of the reasons yukkuri get it so bad is that they're just as cruel to eachother, they're vicious little shits when the conditions merit it, or they're sweet and simple when they can take it easy

I always saw yukkuris as a deliberate mockery of everything we understood about biology. I.e., they're defenceless, slow, stupid, compulsively annoying, lazy, and delicious. This might be the "correct" option since Yukkuri reproduce like locust, consume with reckless abandon, and have no natural predators to keep them in check. The yukkuri are (possibly magically) animated manjuu, a kind of Japanese pastry. Reimu types are filled with anko (red bean paste), and other types have different filling. (See the comparison table and profile pages for individual types.)

The average "adult" yukkuri is about the size of a basketball, but there is no actual limit to their size. A yukkuri the size of a basketball will weigh about 7 pounds (3 kg). If the yukkuri has enough food, it will continue to grow, reaching a diameter of 2 meters or more. Newborn yukkuris are usually the size of a small tomato, though they can be as small as a cherry if they're born prematurely. Sometimes, a yukkuri may grow to become a Dosuyukkuri, which is generally seen as the leader of a yukkuri group and several times larger than an average human. Environment also plays a factor in size, as yukkuri in city and urban areas are normally the size of baseballs or even golf balls, while wild ones are the sizes listed above.

They usually move by jumping, though other methods of locomotion also appear. Most notably, some types are able to fly. They are all generally shown to be slower than that of an average human or animal.

Most can manipulate items using their mouths and tongues, or their hair for types with braids.

They multiply extremely quickly and are thus sometimes compared to Star Trek tribbles.

Despite apparently possessing anatomical elements such as teeth and hair, as well as accessories made of cloth, a yukkuri is completely edible. Humans have been portrayed swallowing smaller yukkuri whole, though this isn't the best of ideas as this has led to many choking incidents.

Pain, suffering, fear and despair strangely makes a yukkuri’s bean paste sweeter. Conversely, emotionally dead yukkuris taste bad and koyukkuris are slightly sour. What caused the change in flavor based on emotions is unknown as of current and most writers and authors tend to not include this in their works.

Yukkuris have various accessories, usually hats and ribbons. These items are present from birth and grow with the yukkuri. A yukkuri that has lost its accessory is despised by other yukkuris or treated with great suspicion. Sometimes they don't perceive the non-accessoried ones as yukkuri at all, instead viewing them as some strange and hostile creatures and attacking (or at times even eating) them on sight.

There are various theories about yukkuris' accessories. They may be made of tough dough, hardened bean paste or some form of cotton candy. They are more resistant to water than the yukkuri itself. Yukkuri Marisas are sometimes portrayed using their hats as boats or umbrellas. This resistance to water may be due to the accessory's more dense (concentrated) structure, or simply to magic.

Despite being apparently hardened cotton candy, yukkuri hair and body can and must be kept clean: while wild yukkuris do regularly clean clean on all their body, pet shops sell special shampoo for owners of pet yukkuri to clean their pets. Cleaning must be done gently and regularly, as lethal mold (Mr. Mold) can grow on dirty yukkuri.

Anything they eat is converted into the appropriate filling for that yukkuri type. This process is magical in nature and doesn't obey the rules of chemistry. For example, a yukkuri could convert radioactive waste into harmless bean paste, effectively transmuting uranium and various isotopes into compounds of mostly carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen. This, however, doesn't always work and harmful material will most likely kill the yukkuri before being converted into paste.

Their intellectual capabilities are low, usually on an animal level, with the exception of the capability for speech (see theories), and their memory span is usually very short. They seem to be able to remember serious injuries and incidents where they were unable to take it easy, however. (This is the way in which certain behaviors can be imprinted into yukkuri DNA.) This is negated if the yukkuri is fully healed or fed to make it happy immediately afterwards. Quite a number of artists and writers often ignore short memory span for the sake of story and elaborate situations and give the yukkuris in their works a full working memory or at least heavily imply that they will remember what happens to them. As a rule of thumb, the more "scarring" and traumatizing new memories are, the more a yukkuri may able to retain memory of them, sometimes with a little "push", such as with the koyukkuris. This being said, yukkuri do remember the more "important" things in their lives. They can remember their owners, their children and family (they can easily spot a family member in a crowd of yukkuri), basic survival, and the ability to speak. So while they may not remember "minor" things, they can and do remember major things and events.

I dunno, it's really very strange. Real life animal abuse is horrifying to me, I cannot imagine how you could possibly hurt something innocent like an animal, and those damn commercials bring me to tears every time. I have pets of my own, and occasionally have nightmares of them being in pain or dying.

But I enjoy both happy and family friendly, and abuse stories when it comes to yukkuri. Against both shitheads and niceheads.

>> No.22416438

There are a number of reasons, first of all they are typically written to have absolutely repugnant personalities, this can be a chicken or egg argument since you could say if they have those personalities to justify abuse or if the abuse came in response to Yukkuri being created that way. Second, their design would land square in the uncanny valley if they were 3d, they have some human features but miss the mark by a long shot which unnerves alot of people so they don't feel bad about killing them similar to other vermin like rats, spiders, or snakes, (some artists convey this amazingly). Third, Yukkuri really stretch the definition of living beings since they are just dough filled with bean paste, that does allow artists to be visceral while still not having to do actual gore so it feels less real. Finally, Yukkuri life is cheap, they are killed by the most mundane things and only continue existing through breeding like roaches, and they don't really have individual identity since they just have the name of the species (What makes a Reimu type different from any other Reimu type with a similar personality?).

All of these add up to the perfect "fodder" to be obliterated like level 1 rats in a RPG starter area.

People seem to forget that there are Yu's that can literally NUCK entire states and all Yu's rare or common has the potential to have all breeds of Yu's. This would be a World Ending Event unless dealt with properly. So of course people would have a murderboner for these smug little pricks.

Another factor is airing frustrations against the characters they represent. Taking the Reimu example, yukukuri Reimu are basically a caricature of all of her negative traits, and while you can't turn Reimu into a bloody smear without literally destroying Gensokyo in the process, you can beat her yukkuri incarnation in safety knowing that someone gets their countenance for acting like a prick.

It's not even in the top 1000 cute yukkuri pics.

>> No.22537710

I think its cute due to the yukkuri being so happy consuming garbage, completely content of what a fat blob it is.

Most "cute" yukkuri pics are one of three things: a couple of the ugly things sleeping and people fawning about how precious it is, a family all smiling at each other thinking "we wuv each other so much!" or worse just them smiling straight on with giant eyes going full "Am I kawaii? uuguu" I don't find those cute because its just pics of much cuter things like small animals substituted with yukkuri which are just blobs with not quite human features.

>> No.22553504

Maybe that is it. Marisa types usually display more machismo when faced with danger while Reimus just end up being more pathetic. Helpless to save themselves (and too cowardly to even try) from any threat; they just cry, scream, and beg to be saved which angers me more.

Rarely yukkuri can grow bodies or become really big. Sometimes both. They can even become yokai in exceptional circumstances.
