Enjoyment is an entirely chimerical concept to the average "bullet curtain" vertical shooter aficionado. It is not enough to win, you must do so under the most difficult conditions possible, and curse your ineptitude should you fail to meet the additional criteria you impose upon yourselves.

Playing a STG at peak performance is something beyond enjoyment. It is not fun or stressful or any emotion at all. Like the "just sitting" of Zen, it is "just playing". When you understand this you will understand why STGs are the best genre.
