I think for the most part they're for viewing general outdoor conditions (mostly weather events). The local news stations where I am have a few that are always streaming online and that the stations themselves will pull up during weather events to show conditions. Some are pointed at the sky while others are pointed at busier intersections. I gotta imagine it's the same in Japan.

I could be exceptionally wrong though and this could just be some weird nerd obsession thing over there. Who knows? Probably someone else, I'm just talking out my ass.

I was wondering this too and found this video.
Apparently not a lot of damage in Asakusa, but i bet the trains not running annoy a lot of people.
A lot of tracks, overhead wires and signal systems to inspect before things get rolling again i am guessing.
Situation might be a lot different in residential areas in the suburbs though, specially as you mention about electrical wiring.

Typhoon hit overnight so all I got was stuff like this, and some neat videos from twitter.
>>22032608
that had some very high sea spray throughout, but it was so hard to see.

I recorded 6 hours of Yokohama City but the footage was ruined. I discovered that if you mute VLC's process in the sound manager, your video is muted. If you mute within VLC, your video is muted also.
There doesn't seem to be a way to record with sound while also not hearing it, for instance if you're enjoying music.

>> No.22044578

>>22043673
There might be a way if you are using voicemeeter or something of the sort. The idea would be for the VLC to go to the voicemeeter, but not connect with the speakers. Perhaps that will allow VLC to work with sound, but I can't promise anything.
Still, if the problem is only no sound, it doesn't exactly mean it was ruined.

Even weirder, i have plenty of 6 hour recordings with no audio problems at all, all of them were muted at recording.
I swear VLC recording is some sort of black magic and no two systems work the same for some reason.

Yep, not very interesting and not a great view unfortunately.
I wish there was more good quality streams with a civilian harbor view, since the Sasebo one is mainly focused on the military side that doesn't get that much daily traffic other than the tugs and small patrol boats.

Even a small fishing port would be nice, i used to watch a really old panasonic IP camera from some little fishing village in Hokkaido, but it is on a dynamic IP and a pain to find.
I think whoever put that camera up just forgot about it, last few times i found it the view was almost entirely covered by bird poop and impossible to see anything from and has been like that for a long time.

Specially not as almost everyone i have ever tried talking about this with has pointed out people like me is why they tape over the webcam on their laptop.
Trying to get people to understand that i am not hacking peoples laptops to record them naked for blackmail is way too much effort so better to just not mention anything at all.

I have given to them screenshots from certain streams and then they asked what was that. But also really I mostly only watch train stops or some other scenery.
One of them, both women, said "As long as you don't hurt anyone.", which is a bit exaggerated, but whatever. The other one I don't even remember what she said. Something like "cool" and that was it.

Not really, though most streams are there, you just have to enter the channel, not the stream link.
I, the github anon, is always here, I am just a lazy piece of shit. I have decided to remove stream links and just leave it at channel links, so I don't have to update the damn stream links all the time (this being just about youtube of course). I have also decided to make a few different categories of stream, to make it easier to search.
I just have to wake up early some morning and get on it. I say morning (here), so that I can also take screenshots of the streams. Will have to read a bunch of old threads to find all the streams posted since last update, though.

Hey (fellow) weebs, I came across this Japan Railway Journal weekly show on NHK World and thought I'd mention here on the off chance you haven't seen it.

It's goofy and stilted as if they're intentionally creating school PSA videos but hey, Japanese train system factoids.

So far they just seem to be at the damage control stage, stopping further erosion.
I don't think this stream view has been available before, or possible just as one of the views in their river monitoring, and not a public youtube stream.
At least i haven't seen it before.

I would guess that they have people going along inspecting every track in the region before giving the go-ahead, especially in lower elevations. Nagano got dumped on. Going by what I've seen today, by far the worst thing to happen yet had nothing to do with Tokyo - it was an entire town flooded when their river wall caved in. >>22240182

guessing this line doesn't have large resources either as it appears to be a smaller owner company

I recently discovered the Ebisu Circuit cams. I've been watching them race for the last two hours, lots of expensive cars here.

I mean elderly people that were living alone: probably we have to wait for the social services to go check them one by one; it could take 2 weeks at least I'm afraid

Found this cam I've never noticed before, Lake Biwa area. You can operate it through the stream chat.

>> No.22253422

>>22253360
I've linked that channel lots because I love the quality. Seriously, it's 4k with crystal clear audio, very few offer both let alone one. Also, whenever a big storm is set to hit the area, they usually show an additional cam aimed at either the water on the shore or a collection of boats in the bay.

I did not notice that other people can influence the camera controls though, because I usually open the city skyline view.

I was going to ask why it says "You can't operate this camera", until I finally read it properly.
It also says "world-first", which is obviously untrue. Fucking nip wants to feel special.

Almost didn't notice we are at the bump limit before going to bet. Maybe a tad bit early, but here is the new thread:
