I've been practicing this extra stage for a while now, I can reach Flandre with 4 lives and a couple of bombs, but this spells fucks me up every fucking time. It's too god damn hard.

Have you beaten her, /jp/?

>> No.2183503

>>2183493
Yeah, I only have her final spellcard and Remilia's second to last (Hard) left to capture.

It can supposedly be captured by staying in the bottom and moving a little to the left on every wave. I captured it by circling her, though.

Actually, I find Extra to be enjoyable. It's really quick to get to the meat of it, while playing full mode means you don't really get to play for about three stages, for the most part.

That is what I'm seeing at the videos I'm using for guidance. But your precision has to be 100% perfect, I don't think I have reached that skill level yet. I'll try circling, but I guess it would take me 20 or 30 seconds to defeat her spell while doing it, right? That I'll be a pain.

Plus, if you're using Reimu, you'll be forced to unfocus sooner or later because she's too slow to catch up with the spins. Ergo, your chances of dying triple.

I have to beat the game with her first. I will give a few more tries with Reimu, but I will have Flandre in the end. I feel I'm close to beating her yet I keep making lame mistakes. I would stream if I knew how to.

She isn't to slow if you stay within the red spell circle, but the danmaku may have a hypnotizing effect, so you still mess up.

>>2183493

If you're in the position of the person in the screenshot you're already doing it wrong
Just move into the maze before she shoots the blue bullets and then fly in a circle, tracing the red spell circle loosely. It's not actually that hard once you realize how to do it.

>> No.2183718

>>2183681

Really, each person generally has some types of patterns they're good at, and some that they aren't, and so take more attempts to realize.

For example, I will never understand the people who say Reimu in IN is a hard boss fight, because, to me, her spellcards are a complete joke. I fully remember going for Spellcard Practice of them, and capturing them all, up to Lunatic (the one that took more tries taking like ten attempts). But, on the other hand, I have a chance to die to fucking *Sanae* in Normal in MoF, because her spellcard background hurts my eyes and I mess up.

I find the spells of midboss Sanae harder then her boss form spells. Probably just me.

Do the circle method, OP. It's not really that hard once you realize you just move in one direction for the turquise bullets, then the other direction when they turn gold. It's a lot better bet then trying to stick to the bottom, which is almost certain death.

Once you get used to it it's one of the easiest to capture every time because it's not as random as some other cards.

What? No way. Flan's not the hardest, not in a million years. I can reach Maze of Love without a life loss (via a single bomb, I have to admit. God, I hate Solar Flare) - I can't even *reach* Yukari without dying once along the way.

All the extra stage difficulties are more or less equivalent of each other, besides PCB's phantasm being slightly harder than its extra. People just think EOSD is the hardest cause they can't see their precious hitbox.

>> No.2183922

I can reach Flandre's last spell, but Mokou is so hard...
Beat Ran and Suwako already. Can't beat Yukarin yet because Ran midboss and the stage rape me some lives.

Still not 1cc'ed SA. Can reach Utsuho but not defeat her, need more training.

>> No.2183923

>>2183883
Just learn the stage and you'll never die there (especially if you use bombs). Ran is easier than Chen (because of her hard first spellcard), so he shouldn't be much trouble.

>> No.2183949

It's actually one of her easiest spell cards once you get the hang of it.
Hardest one is either Counter Clock or Starbow Break (when not using safe spot) imho.

>> No.2183953

>>2183923

Ran, easier than Chen? What?

Hard first spellcard? Blue Oni Red Oni was the easier of Chen's attacks - easier than the second spellcard, easier than her noncard attack. And certainly not harder than Ran's first midboss attack or second midboss spellcard.

Okay, apparently, I'm officialy weird when it comes to bullet patterns.

>> No.2183958

>>2183949
Counter Clock? no. Hardest one is of course 495.

> Hard first spellcard? Blue Oni Red Oni
Indeed, it requires navigating a thick ocean of bullets, and NOT HORIZONTALLY!

Impossible to fail: Ran's first and second spellcard; Chen's second spellcard.
Possible to fail: Ran and Chen's normal attacks (Chen's a little less), Chen's first spellcard.

>> No.2184145

>>2184020

Really?

Well, I have to say, "cloud" danmaku are extremely easy for me. My mind just processes them better. So I barely need to think about the stuff in the middle in Blue Oni Red Oni - I just navigate through easily. But it took me a lot of tries to actually "get" Chen's second card, and same for Ran's.

How is IN extra hard anyway, Mokou is a total pushower :|

>> No.2184300

Extra stages in touhou games are not really enjoyable, and basically boil down to watching a bunch of replays to find the "key" to each pattern and trying it until you do a perfect run.

You bet! When it traps you like that there is no escape!

>> No.2184370

>>2183953
Ran's nonspell is definitely harder than Chen's, but her first spellcard is a total joke compared to Chen's, and her second spellcard is easier as well because you dodge through two more spread-out waves of arrow bullets (blue then the very easy red wave) instead of one thick wave of blue bullets

>>2183949
Starbow Break is easy, lack of hitbox doesn't even matter because the bullets are completely vertical. Suwako's spellcard before her survival ones is infinitely harder for me than either Phoenix's Tail or Starbow Break.

Really nothing Flan has is hard enough to be a complete block on progress, the problem is the relatively small number of lives EoSD Extra gives you; even if you can beat everything just a few screwups will do you in. Plus the stage is WAY more of a bitch than any other Extra, too much pure dodging rather than just memorization. And only bombs allow me to avoid having my runs end at Patchy; Silent Selene and Philosopher's Stone are harder than anything Flan throws at me (except QED).

>> No.2184388

>>2184300
Tell me about it. When Touhou trolls say MEMORIZAN GAEMS they are definitiely talking about extra stages.

>> No.2184471

Dodge left and right from the bottom, problem solved. I usually position myself a fourth to a third of the way up the screen then stream down, and if there's an opening to move back up and stream down I'll repeat once more to get a little more out of the border before retreating to the bottom.
