I have decided to finally suck it up and play Tsukihime. I know how to do all the download and patch stuff so im not a complete nube faggot, but there was one thing that concerned me, and that was on Mirror Moons website there was no translation patch for Kagetsu Tohya (not that I could see)

But I never got a chance to get attached to Arc because every time she almost got a chance to see some character development, it got interrupted by the necessity of explaining how vampires work. It really killed her route.

Ciel got much better development thanks in part to having much less long-winded bullshit narratives. I really have no idea why bashing her is such a popular thing among the Tsukihime audience.

It's not like it's the characters' fault. Nasu had to cram a lot of info into some very short routes, and Arc was, if my understanding is correct, the "default" route, so it was bearing the burden of introducing the audience to the nasuverse.

Type Moon can handle it now. Less blurry photographs used as backdrops and more hand-drawn stuff. More dynamic shots during important scenes.

Like how Saber gets blown away in Fate and you get this awesome picture of her sprawled out on the ground, sizzling, bloody, and hazy-eyed.

Honestly I can't get across what I'm trying to say without resorting to posting screenshots from Arc's route, and I already uninstalled.

There are a lot of times, like during Shiki's little date with Arc, that they both kill whatever mood was built up when Shiki asks a question or cracks a joke, and Arc winds up taking it seriously and/or explaining shit about vampires again.

I don't know about you, but by that point in the story, I was tired of lectures about vampires, and I was getting frustrated that what was turning out to be a light, comedic and/or romantic scene got interrupted by more serious talk.

I actually didn't know whether to feel worse for Shiki or Arc for having such a bad date. It was worse than the Shirou/Saber date.

Since all they really have to do art-wise is redraw some stuff (the conceptual stage usually takes longest, and that's pretty much done), there should be plenty of time left over for adding new CGs. If I got just one decent CG of Nero vs Shiki (on top of all the other redrawn scenes), I'd be pretty happy with the remake.

Oh, and a CG of Arihiko, Shiki, and Ciel eating lunch together would be nice.

Personally, I think it said much about both of them. And I found that endearing. Arc is just emotionally handicapped as all get out, so she falls back to what she knows - vampires, and mystical shit. They do, but I preferred Shiki's relationship with Ciel. It started out with her just trying to find the best time to kill him, but when it came right down to it, he accepted her decision but she couldn't go through with it.

Re-reading just makes it even more obvious; the first time he meets her, she already knows that he's the new Roa. At that point, she just needs to stay close to him so she can end it all once Roa awakens, but in doing so falls in love with him. She literally gives up her one dream for his sake, and the willingness to do that is really important to me in a VN couple.

Well, what can I say - I found Arcueid much more enjoyable to have around. She was nice, and took an outlook towards life I liked. Ciel was nice at first, and in the end, but went all kinds of irritating during the middle of the storyline (the fact I took up to playing a lot Melty Blood after reading Tsukihime didn't exactly help me keep my best memories of her, either)

Also, Arc has the distinction of being the first vampire I liked in *years*, too.

True. Both for story and gameplay. It doesn't exactly mark upon her good qualities personality-wise, and Ciel's rather annoying to play against.

* Sacchin, Mech-Hisui, Sion, W.Len and Aoko get their own routes, with a minimum of 1 H-scene, preferably two.
-- Meaning tearful, consensual missionary for Sacchin, USE HER HAIR SUGOI SUGOI for Aoko etc. etc.

* W.Len footjob with socks-scene. (I can't stress the importance of this)

* Better pacing in Near Side, shift around some of the BASIL EXPOSITION scenes.

* Sacchin route sandwiched between Arc and Ciel so Ciels route suffers less from lolrepetitionrepetitionrepetition.

* W.Len/Mech-Hisui sandwiched between the twins routes for the same reason, also Kohakus end made me feel significantly less because Hisui True was sort of ... the peak of the game for me. (inb4 rage)

* The possibility of a less-than-HORRIBLY CRUSHING BAD end for Ahika.

* If they put in a Shiki X anyman route (inb4 rage, like Ciel route it would be "skippable" in the sense that skipping it doesn't significantly impact the story, the F.Y.F.G's ALONE would make it profitable. This is what us normal people call FINANCIAL INCENTIVE.

* Add some longer-running pieces of music so that slower readers don't have to suffer repetitive music. Also, overall less re-using of music.

... and use the F.Y.F.G-money described above to license Fleetwood Mac's "Sisters of the Moon" for use in any and all H-scenes.
