Just going of my memory (I watched the animes when they first aired, so it's been a long time), probably Air. Clannad was pretty faithful, although it did cut 1 somewhat minor character entirely and a few side routes. Little Buster's only major cut /lit/'s route, but it was shit so that actually makes it better by default. Air had to leave a lot out because of it's 13 episode runtime.

This. It's been more than 7 years since I read Little Busters (in English), but I still remember this much. I seem to remember it was really fucking long too, but maybe it just felt that way because it was so bad.

I don't remember disliking Kud's route but honestly I can't really remember much of the game anymore. I'd like to re-read it in Japanese at some point, but this time in the Ecstasy version with the extra routes (and extra character) that I couldn't read before due to them not being translated.

There's a few different reasons:
1: On an academic level, ability to write the language is viewed as important.
2: Classes need to support some of the dumber students. Of course some absolute bricks will drop out anyway, but the class needs to be approachable for students who have other classes to be doing as well.
3: Teaching via input is borderline impossible. There's no guarantee of what the students will pick up, and if you're going to create a syllabus of mandatory viewing/learning, you're not really doing anything better than a textbook, and arguably doing it worse

Basically it's just that self-learners aren't the demographic college is aimed at anyway.
