The range-specified command set have preserve target as entity (both lines)
The "player HP > 10%" commands were an attempt to circumvent the bug as they don't preserve target, because if all the above failed (ergo something out of range is the target) then the intent was that it would check the player's HP and be forced to attack a valid target in range with the spacts in question. It doesn't work though, it seems that if the pet decides it wants to attack something on the other side of the map it just won't do any action at all until said target is in range.

And again, my issue isn't the error messages. It's the fact that my pet does nothing in big rooms.

>>21687710
Attacking things works pretty inconsistently for me. I've sat at range 1 and killed things over the course of 15 ice bolts while my pet did nothing.

Perhaps use Directive to change them from onslaught to intercept. Should make them target closer enemies.

>because if all the above failed (ergo something out of range is the target) then the intent was that it would check the player's HP and be forced to attack a valid target in range with the spacts in question
Well that doesn't exactly work at all, because it only checks the current target.

Preserve Target As Entity just makes the action target the Entity. Mostly for stuff like using heals/buffs on the player.
Having it on when using Target as the Entity does nothing.
It doesn't force it target the SAME target, that already happens. And having it off won't make it magically target a different target.
There is NO Custom AI option to rotate targets.

So once it fails the distance check, it can't do either ability. Both because that distance<=4 evaluates true to skip the line, and because they won't work farther away.
But you still have it attempting to do that ability; against the same target since having PEAT off doesn't change that.

So for ANYTHING over 4 squares away it will just be confused trying to distant attack. Never falling back to lightning bolt because it can never get that far as the two lines before it always evaluate true.

Updated the pastebin with the 'What to play' descriptions from the previous thread slightly edited by myself based on the back and forth that was had.
Threw it into the FAQ with a note at the very top of the pastebin to go there since it seems most people don't read past the first links.
Would appreciate if some anons would look at it to see if it is newb friendly enough.
Also updated the mod pastebin with the new official beautify version.

From the versions I have on hand, it was fixed somewhere between 1.73 and 1.87.

We have up to 1.89.3(.1) as far as Custom(-G) goes, and 1.90 for regular plus.
If you need help downloading 1.89.3.1 I can mirror that. Since BloodyShade's mirror seems to be working slowly and timing out (POSSIBLY a good sign, since it happens sometimes around Custom updates, but also randomly otherwise so yeah)

Wish I had. I buy it from country people and at the local DYI shop sometimes. It's called wool felting, basically there's 2 techniques. First called needle felting you stab wool with special needle that make's wool fibers lock and mat together and form an object that way. Second one called wet felting and with this you need to make the wool wet and soapy and then rub it so the wool fibers mat together. For example I've made all 3 hats with wet techniques and the rest with needle felting because it's hard to make something flat like hat by stabbing it.

>Which feats are good in plus?
Usually the ones that grant special actions. Spacts don't scale well, but they have good utility. Use Dancing Wire to yank an enemy into range to be instagibbed by your little girl, or use Fire Breath's Gauge Release to overheal yourself. And if you ever go into Awoken Nefia, you'll want Gravity Accel to deal with the "permanent gravity and traps everywhere" floors.

>> No.21691628

>>21691262
Even though I like the speed feats for early game, it would be a waste to take them. You only get a few feats at that point after all. Magical Plants allows for a screenwide poison attack at 30 gardening and Gravity Accel gives a strong AOE speed buff that stacks with other speed buffs, I'd say these and other active abilities are a far better choice than speed.

That's technically okay. You'll eventually have enough incognito stocks to do most anything, guards are easy to kill off or teleport away, higher taxes are still quite negligible. So having really low karma isn't exactly a large problem.

I don't really feel the need to steal from and kill everything. Like I only ever pickpocket valuable things, and only really kill new uniques and all big daddies.
So that's enough to keep up karma just from doing all town jobs I feel like, that bury corpse random thing, and quite rarely turning in some of my large stock of stray cats from balls or my discarded ranch nearby.
Game's pretty well balanced for that, it seems.

A note for fun though. Go kill a guard, grab its meat, and eat it right in front of another guard before killing and eating that one. Watching karma plummet from that is pretty cool.

>>21699023
Quests pay well if you do them in bulk, and they are still important for platinum even if you don't. If you can't do harvesting, performance and hunting quests, your only other option is item delivery ones. You are bound to find a quest where they want garbage as a birthday present or food that can be cooked with lv. 0 Cooking. Wild flowers can be an early source of money, though they barely pay for anything other than food and drinks to stay alive. You can also get a little bit of money from cooking corpses. Mining in Puppy Cave also works, though you need a stockpile of food and water to stay there.

Look at how long escort and delivery quests will take before you accept them. Failure will cost you karma and that can get you in trouble.
I want it quests are almost always super easy and there's no real consequence for failure.
Gardening in yowyn is safe too, pick up the gardening skill when you get a chance.

My preferred source of early cash in plus is to start a ranch. Buying a deed for a ranch will set you back around 70,000 gold, depending on your negotiation skill. Catch something low level that breeds fast like a rat in a monster ball, then leave it to breed on your ranch. Some people like to use rabbits for their first ranch animal since they have a chance to drop an item that gives a permanent +1 to luck. It's better than nothing, but luck is your least important stat. Anyway, kill the offspring and leave the corpses on the drydock for a while to create jerky. Sell their skins and jerky for a profit. If you have the cooking skill, you can cook the meat instead of making jerky if you prefer, but with a low skill level the jerky should make more money.

When I start a game I like to get a storage house and place it directly next to Palmia so it acts as my base of operations and to complete I Want It quests. First though, I go from the starting cave to Cyber Dome (it's south and to the left of the cave) to gamble on a chance for glass gun/bullets/energy cell. There I sell any heavy equipment from the tutorial/character generation, the uncurse scroll (if something good is on sale and need money) and anything else. With what little funds I have, I look for glass gear, free speed is always nice. If the bullets don't match the gun you can't shoot but that's ok, you can still wear them for the free speed. After that I go right, toward Palmia and Yowyn. Do easy jobs and note what items pop up in I Want It quests. When I have enough gold for a storage house I place it at Palmia and throw in items that may be used in the quests like gems/crystals etc. I write down what's in there so I don't have to zone to search it. Sometimes quests vanish on me just for walking out of town. If I see a request with an item in storage I take it, walk out of town, get their item, done. Having a list of stock on hand makes it fast and easy, no need to hunt around hoping someone/thin has the item. If you don't have anything you can just move on and do other things until there is a request you can do.

Other than obvious high-value vendor trash like scroll of oracle and corpses (cook immediately with portable cooking furniture so it wont rot), dungeon dive specifically for "pot for fusion".
Anything you make out of that generally sells for way too much for a starter character, because it seems balanced around a level 30-50+ character.

Good things to aim for are putitoros, dairy products, hamburgers.
At the start with crap stats you'd probably be making instant ale, furniture, onigiris and shit though.

From there you basically just save up (by putting money in piggybanks or into cargo that you dump at home) for a farm or ranch, and then income starts to flow in proper.
Early game really shouldn't be a problem with a putit farm churning putitoros like 12k an in-game day.

The REAL real money comes when you actually have 100+ cooking and DOUBLE anything you cook, so you should aim for that if you aren't sure yet how to get stronk and clear level 200+ dungeons for gold.

>> No.21701964

You mentioned not being strong enough for dungeons, but here's some info for when you're ready.

Crafting gives ridiculous amounts of money in this game, and can exponentially speed up your early game. All you need is crafting tools, some basic gear and some pets to keep you alive. This can be done before you're even high enough level to pay taxes. Trawl low level (1-10) dungeons for material spots, especially during Nefia Fever. For reference I made a new character and after the usual Yowyn farming and trading oracle scrolls from the puppy cave with adventurers for gear, around level 10 I went dungeon diving for the duration of one Fever. This got me enough materials for ~300 decorated cloths made with the sewing kit, which along with other crafting fodder amounted to ~250k. With that amount you can buy a shop or estate, and invest 50 in a couple vendors for potential potions.

Basically if you're properly equipped to gather materials in low level dungeons, you can shit out money and use it to fund all the other moneymaking methods already mentioned. Seriously, you can cut 50 hours worth of grinding into 5

I think the closest you could get to that would be to put a special action above it with the same condition. (Basically trying to use the spact cooldown to jury-rig "if this move doesn't instakill everything in sight, then use this super move".)
>I can't find any way to relate an action to multiple targets or compare actual stats, just percentage value
Custom AI is miles better than default AI, but its condition list is limited compared to, e.g., Siralim 3's macro system. (Although Siralim 3 lacks "And" functionality.)

There IS another limiter for special acts besides the two turn limit when using custom ai.

>Secondly, since pets do not use stamina, every ability that your pet knows has a resource associated with it. You could consider it something like "energy", and it functions to limit how often your pet can use a specific ability. The maximum energy for any specific ability is 5 * (stamina cost/10), with a cap of 20. The energy use for every action is max(1, stamina cost/10)+1. Every time that your pet enters the customized AI routine, it will regenerate 1 point of energy for every ability that it knows.

Custom AI was added by AnnaBannana. She's still around last I heard, but BloodyShade is the one maintainging Custom these days. He keeps Custom AI's evolution and special action lists up to date, but I don't think there have been any changes to the system itself since it was added.

Potions of any kind wet you just fine, so a stack of minor potions from alchemy or from the magic shops is easy to go with.
You could also bless the entire stack by mixing a blessed bottle of water into it, and now you can go around drinking unidentified liquids off the floor freely because you have the cure any 'sick' you get instantly.

The better solution is you find a magaqua and leave it in your inventory so you're perpetually wet and don't need to deal with hydration.

>I am trying to get into elona any good tips?
If you get a lucky day dream, go to palmia, derphy, or port kapul and play blackjack. Bet one chip at a time unless you have a ton of them. If you get a good win streak (4 or so) you'll earn a potion of cure corruption. You generally shouldn't waste your casino chips outside of lucky days. If you really need a potion of cure corruption, the king of palmia gives you one early in the main quest.

Pets make the game a lot easier. Even if you'd rather go it alone, I at least recommend using them to smooth out the early game. I find wizards of elea to be extremely effective for how cheap and easy they are to get. The slave master in derphy sells them for around 1,000-2,000 gold. A good long-term pet is the defender you get for worshipping Jure. Defenders have the ability to prevent the death of one member of your party, including you but excluding themselves, once per rest. They make things a lot more forgiving.

Since you're in plus, take the strings assassin feat when you get a chance. It gives you a powerful melee attack that can never, ever miss. Later that same feat will unlock thread of innervation which seriously breaks the early game. Other good feats to take early on: hypnotism gives you a weak attack that never misses and inflicts sleep on anything not immune. Exorcist increases your resistance to having your items cursed, and guarantees they won't be cursed in your sleep. Dimensional move gives you the ability to teleport a short distance and is very helpful in escaping. It's less useful later on, but it never completely goes out of style because you can still use it when you have status ailments, unlike scrolls and spells.

>Also how do I get water aside from buying beer/whisky ?
There's an item called a magaqua that makes you wet for as long as it's in your inventory. Carrying one effectively disables the thirst system. You'll take more damage from lightning, but it's worth not dealing with thirst.

Until you find one, whisky and potions of cure minor wound are what I use. Don't drink a lot of alcohol at once, vomiting is bad for you. If you're not in the latest version you could just install custom g and forget about the whole thing.

Oh yeah, and never drink potions of water. Those are for blessing your items. Go to the truce grounds north of palmia and choose a god to worship. Then when you drop potions of water on your god's altars, they'll become blessed water mix blessed water with something else to bless that item. A good early game use is to bless a stack of scrolls of change material which can be used to make your equipment far more powerful. Press B to mix items.

You don't need to join a guild to learn its skills. Just zap a wand of teleportation at the watchman and then cast incognito or use a disguise kit once inside. In plus the guild leader will not be fooled. The fighter and thief guild leaders aren't too bad but the mage guild leader is dangerous.

Generally with code you'd think that way and be correct. No idea about HSP though.
And compilers or interpreters can automatically optimize such things in some cases. So the negligible saved CPU cycles may already be saved anyway.

Regardless, that's just how it is in Elona(plus), which dev/s aren't likely to change; Custom aims to not change any code function at all, even small things like that; and the difference is probably too negligible to be worth deviating Custom-G further.

Rods will train magic device and if you use dupli-cane, alchemy. This also trains magic and learning which will both buff barrier, that you should get, and maybe offer you an extra skill point or two a level.
I've never made a ranged character so I can't say how beneficial ranged weapons would be but if you aren't using a ranged pet you could more easily get a ranged living weapon higher level to use as a stat-stick.

Oh I've noticed. Frog's platinum song makes me at least moderately tanky though and every time that's happened so far the rabbit swooshes in, stops time, and solves the problem. It's scary but so far alright.
Might actually raise a cat instead of a chicken. I like how their evolution looks and it gets a nice easy speed boost to make it useable until I can AP boost it. I want a caster though so I'd need to re-train its casting once I get enough AP to teach it some spells.
Might raise one of those craftable golems alongside it.

That's the advantage of a mount: you'll always have a pet with you when you get Awoken Autotarget Draw Shadow'd. The downside, as discussed last thread, is that the mount might target something that isn't in range and ignore nearby enemies.

In that situation you can still hope to call them. Like send them to town then call them back. Should spawn them as close to you as possible, even if that's on the edge of a pile. From there it's just survival.

What other creatures use Multiple Gather? I could swear a yellow rabbit of some sort did it to me countless times but can't find anything about it on the wiki.

I've yet to have that issue actually cause problems. Because just * targeting something else, bumping into something else, double bashing non-aggressive NPCs to make them aggressive, or even being hit makes it work again. So it's usually alleviated before I even notice unless the dungeon is really really low level.
Is it still broken after fixing the Custom AI for targets 5-6sq away by removing those two PCHP>10%? So that they don't get locked into Distant/Continuous attacks despite being unable to.

One of the best forms of survivability available to you if you're using an uberpet it to tag with them. When tagging attacks choose which character to hit with probability based on who has more HP, and if you use a pet as your kill mechanism they'll be many levels higher then you, have much higher stats, and thus way more HP and thus have the large majority of attacks directed at them instead.

Riding lets you use a percentage of your pet's speed instead of your own. Higher riding lets you use more of your pet's speed.

>> No.21718190

>>21717613
Riding replaces your speed with your pet's speed instead.
Riding skill and your pet's strength decides how much speed you can actually gain, so the faster (and weaker) your pet is, the more riding levels you need.
Riding bitflags affect that calculation substantially. Like "you'll move slower than an iceberg if you ride a bell" levels of substantial.

In elona+. the pet's riding skill also helps in the calculation.

I play pet-centric characters exclusively and I dig this change, it helps your character fall less far behind when starting out. It doesn't affect herbs which is pretty much all you'll be eating later, so the main affected period is early game. Pets will far outstrip your growth either way, because as soon as you throw some flowers and ores their way and especially after they get pickpocket, their potentials are pretty much always at 400%. The same can absolutely not be said for the PC. So having the same normal food modifier doesn't make actual growth equal and giving the PC a boost does not affect the pet experience at all. I'd argue that before, there was little reason to eat anything except herbs and food cargo. I'd say it helps both non-pet and pet-using PCs fit into E+ power progression without upsetting the scales.

People who think luck is an useless stat and people who think swimming is useless belong to the same group, high functioning autists. Or as it is more commonly called, aspergers.
People with aspergers enjoy a sort of "structure" they can build their thoughts around. The world for them, is a puzzle, or that's how they wish it was.
Us normal people simply have a general vague understanding.
The asperger might say "But they showed up at MY house, why do I need to treat them". Our brains work differently, we simply "get it".
Luck is vague, and therefore wishing for a random rainfall, happening upon a situation where the speed gives us the final push to escape our predicaments seems irrational, and therefore intimidating for the asperger.
us normals see things differently, the joy of good loot, the high of killing an enemy after greater evation kicked in, easy mothafukan blujackkujackku is tooo good to give up. To conclude, people who don't worship our catlady above have the condition called high functioning autisim, or as we call it, aspies.

>> No.21726181

>>21726110
Luck isn't entirely useless, because it does affect things.

But it even 2000 luck barely does anything.
At most gives 40% chance to upgrade equipment by one quality tier.
It only guarantees a hit for rnd(44)>rnd(300), plus a negligible hit chance increase
20-25% chance for godly pet crafted sleep items instead of miracle.
Plus a small effect on rich man events and curse dice.

The only thing it's actually useful for is blackjack. Which just having a lucky day is enough to cover. That aside, just having 80 luck gives a 1/2 chance for that message. 120 for 2/3. It doesn't take much for that. Certainly not worth grinding out.

Just because it affects things doesn't mean it's useful. It's not an issue of not understanding it intuitively, because the code is readable and probability is grade school shit.
Rather, it's an issue of understanding it and, due to doing just that, understanding that it's not worth focusing on.

Swimming trains speed in plus at least. So that has its own use in reducing the need to grind for AP and then speed uppers or Hermes blood.

-Defender: Strong fighter, can heal you with Healing Rain spells, prevents you from dying once per day with the Lay Hand ability.
-Fire dragon child: Tons of HP, few default equipment slots (which means you can customize/optimize what it can equip via gene engineering), gains the powerful Boost (strong offensive buff) and Megid Flame (removes enemy buffs and inflicts Element Scar) abilities as you evolve it.

I like to keep a stack of cursed whisky on hand to take on high level enemies. Drop water on an alter not belonging on your god to curse it, then throw it. It doesn't work on every enemy and I'm not sure why, but most things will get anorexia after a few hits, and throwing a few more after that will deal them 9999 starvation damage. I just got the Zantetsu from a level 68 adventurer that way. Killing Loyter with cursed alcohol during party quests is a great way to get solid equipment early on. Killing Gilbert in parties is alright too but his equipment is worse and he has ranged attacks. Are those adventurers you hired still with you? They might be able to kill Gilbert and/or Loyter too.

Also don't open new years gifts in your home and don't open gifts from adventurers who aren't at amiable status or higher. I think the rival adventurer gives you good gifts regardless of her relationship, but it's also easy to make her like you by killing her.

Most additions people claim are weird OC fanfiction fueled nonsense like a lot of the special actions I actually like. More unique abilities and ways to play is always good. Plus has slowly evolved a sort of semi-class system because of them. Realizing and figuring out how to play a 100% necro character was some of the most fun I've had. Pissing rubbed me the wrong way though. Hydration just sounds annoying where as hunger is a core part of stat growth and the piss thing feels like a fetish.
I also don't give a shit about the "fanfiction" story of plus. As much as I like custom translating everything I enjoyed the world a lot more before it had the context of the story and now I actively choose to avoid learning about it.

PC can piss as a special (a)ction and then select a target, pissing on enemies makes them upset (fury status effect), selecting self just generates a puddle where you stand. It reduces hydration level. You can pick up piss and examine it, it says ''Why did you pick this up...?'' Again, I have never needed to use the pissing action. Also apparently sometimes characters that are scared shitless or hit by body blow will wet themselves. I've never seen it happen. About hydration, it seems to serve to deter the player from infinitely drinking potions even when completely satiated. Seems fair, though I can imagine this may put players trying to drink a healing potion when overhydrated in a pinch. The point at which music tickets become genuinely useless for ANY class is crazy far into the game, like near or at level caps.
The pet count is also useful for shops, ranches, and maybe sleep events, even if you never ever bring any with you for combat.

I'm also not sure why you would care about strictly castrated single builds at all, really. Everything can and should be trained eventually. Even if you main something specific.

>If the target is the player, a pet, a unique NPC, or [an NPC with a special conversation window like a shopkeeper], it will commit suicide, dropping monster parts, corpse, and figures.
Well at least you can literally talk the final boss into committing suicide, like in Arcanum. The player part is a bit alarming, is there going to be some really slick monster that convinces you to sudoku?

Resist or stat stick in the ranged slot, for yourself.
Use them or save them for later use on a pet, mutant or otherwise.
Use them or save them for later use on a mutant gene, or even if you decide to just switch styles to play with without any gene.

Good attributes for offensive damage are straight magic damage for simplicity, ice damage for max damage when debuffed with wet/scar(But a chance to destroy items), or lightning for slightly lesser damage than ice but still good with wet/scar(Zero item destruction chance)

Good attributes for resistances are whatever you're missing.
I'd say fire>ice>magic>lightning>else, personally. Cover the item destruction stuff first, then magic because it resists heavy hitting attacks like MP burst and Converge Breath, then lightning for if you get wet/scarred.

Critical chance is usually not worth a slot on any living weapon at all whatsoever, since 250ish Eye of Mind and garoked ammo can cap that boost.
Same with Absolute Pierce chance. Mostly because it's better to get that from artifact fusion. Though it may be tolerable on a far offhand living weapon for mutants, artifact fusion would still technically be better if possible due to higher limits.

You should probably Equipment Update the rifle into a laser gun if you're going to use it as a weapon at all.
But besides that they're probably all okay.

Only a little bit. Around the time you're deep void diving, enemies will indeed resist pretty much anything and your living weapons (which your entire party should have) do far less damage with an element instead of pure magic damage. However, if you go all in on an element, you will still inflict status effects and be able to exploit weaknesses. A full chaos weapon can inflict lots of different ailments on every hit, nether can heal you, sound for confusion, lightning can outdamage magic if you wet enemies etc. So there's an upside. That's a completely different thing called Evochat, which you can put your own pictures into supposedly, though I've never bothered with that.

I'm certain that the ailment chance is directly based on element power. I think the calculations are on the wiki under the elements page. If you only have one pip of chaos, you can bet that you'll never land an ailment on void monsters. I recall this question being looked into by anons way back because otherwise it'd be such an obvious shortcut. You can see this in action in the mid game, with monsters using elemental attacks seldom if ever landing any ailments on you and vice versa if there's a high resist to the element. Personally I tried making a living weapon with as many elements as possible. It was garbage because the piddly amount of power doesn't even get through the resist, let alone have a chance in hell of applying a status. I think you need to go all in.

Honestly, I think martial arts should be viable from the get go, but get progressively worse than others as time goes on.
For incentive to move onto getting actual weapons with attributes and invokes, or enhances spells stuff for magic.
I like multiclassing at certain points of falloff, and Martial Arts would be nice as a quick patchup skill to get early characters off the ground before getting items.
And I don't like the memetic factor of martial arts being stronger than others when strictly focused on. Makes it feel almost pointless to get and use weapons, despite finding awesome weapons being such glorious fun.

But that's specific to my playstyle, and certainly not worth balancing an entire game over.
>>21760202
I think, depending on how well it works, it could be a good thing.
Decoupling food, particularly herbed in herbs from strict levelling for something like speed, means the player has to actually play with combat to be faster for combat.
But it's also definitely worse for pacifist pussies.
>This does not apply in the Void, nor does it apply to monsters that were summoned or split.
This, however, is not good at all whatsoever. It unbalances the progression when grinding The Void or facing high level summoners (Like Challenge/Panic Zombie Queens). So that you'd still level other skills but get cockblocked out of speed, which you'd normally get from herb/food but cannot anymore.

I kind of like the idea of food giving potential rather than EXP. It does cut off an early-game way of raising your Speed, though. Post-Zeome you've got AP and Kumiromi statues/herb seeds/herbed food, but now the only pre-Zeome way to grind SPD would be to start quantum creature ranches.

It really depends on what he does with it. If he lowers the maximum damage by a lot then martial arts will just be more or less the same as weapons, which is fine if boring. Empty-handed MA's 8 attacks will still probably beat DW's 8 attacks by a wide margin, and shields/claws/tonfa MA will still probably be a solid combination of offense and defense. And the downside is only relevant super late game. For most of a playthrough this is sure to be a big buff to MA.

The text says that the base accuracy martial arts will be on par with weapons and adding hands will increase it further, so if that's accurate I wouldn't worry too much about it even on a handless MA user.

I wonder if going above 100% pierce with weapon and weapon skill combined will let you nullify some of the enemy's pierce resistance? If it does then lightsabers are still top tier and might even be able to stand up to late game MA now. It sounds like the pierce bonus is based on weapon skill rather than your specific weapon type, so claymores will probably suffer for sharing the same type as lightsabers. Depending on how much bigger the effect is for weapons with low natural pierce, I could see stuff like hammers becoming the weapon of choice for strong damage dice early on and competitive pierce later.

Maybe it'll eventually all end up maxing out at the same amount and your weapon choice won't matter.

>Defeating an enemy with a higher Speed attribute will now award a small amount of Speed experience.

I'm on board. Make the shield skill a weapon skill. Would help get MA under control and would fix this >>21760641 issue as well.

>Normal food doesn't give speed exp but gives speed potential
>Every enemy faster than you will train your speed when defeating them
>Herb bit is unaffected, you still get speed from that
This sounds amazing, now you can start with a snail or any of the numerous other slow races and murder your way up to normal speed by absorbing your enemies' speed like a highlander. Like getting faster reactions from life or death situations or something. Also if you have a pet build, the slowest members of your cute girl squad will start speeding up as soon as they get geared up and start murdering average-above average speed creatures. Biggest impact early game, and for characters that are slow to begin with. Helps you get up to par in a more fun manner than just eating and encourages you to seek out stronger (=usually faster) enemies

Nah. These threads even last on page 10 for hours and there is no need to have stray threads floating around.
When one Elona thread actually dies THEN you make one.
That's how it goes.
