Planning on heading to Japan some time in the summer of 2020, in mid May. Any advice for a first-timer?

Kind of sad I'll be missing Comiket by a week or two, but I have a hard block keeping me from going during that time.

There is no big otaku event at that time every year,
but if you go to a otaku spot like Akihabara, you will be able to find something harvest.

I can not predict the rate of Japanese YEN,
and sales tax goes up 8 to 10% fr this OCT of this year.
If possible, I mentioned in the previous thread that it is better to go this summer.

The Doujin Music and DoujinStyle Discord servers are good for it. Just make a temporary Discord account if you don't want to fully register. Search them up to find the link to them.

/jp/ will have a C96 thread just before and during it and lots of anons post rips here.

I'll also post the C96 spreadsheet once that's made, massive dump of music on there.

But the GENRE code is not each booth number, seems 南ホール South hall.
GENRE code "234" is only "Touhou", including their official and dojin music.

in C96 also Day 2 has other GENRE code 712",
this is for J-pop, K-pop and some other countries music, but these are not u looking for.

This might be a weird or wrong thread to ask but is there anyone here who actually lives or works in Japan? If so, what do you do? How does it compare to your home country? Would you choose to live/work there again?

Student. Only problem is none of my friends are really here. I hate driving and there isn't really much of a benefit of being in the US other than shared language/values. Not sure how work compares though.

I'll keep it more on topic. Love access to otaku related events/collabs/etc, but concerts seem to be a lot harder to get tickets to in Japan. I've studied in Hong Kong before too and it's been a lot easier to attend concerts of Japanese artists there.

Also saving on shipping when buying stuff.

The guide for WF 1st timers:

Sales event of figures (such as garage kit), also event stage, cosplay can be seen.
- venue: Makuhari Messe
- period: only one day
paid event. "公式ガイドブック Official Guide Book" is an admission ticket (on the day, advance sale)
(there is also a priority admission ticket "Direct Pass", but it has already been sold out.)

There are no guide for foreign languages such as English on the official site,
but there are no unusual special rules or manners, no worry.
Not so many visitors like コミケ, but about 50,000 visitors total usual.

There are comlete products in the 企業ブース Corporate booths mainly,
yet 一般ディーラー Private dealers are for experts, except for smaller items,
many original products are also exhibited at 一般ディーラー, such as animals.

Unlike Comiket, there are many expensive products, but a lot of cheaper ones.
It is the same as Comiket that the limited edition is sold out immediately,
but it is an unbearable space for people who like this world.
