Ash Arms stream was fun, it was nice to see everything in action. Battles are turn-based, consisting of Phase 1 where you move your units forward or backward to get good positioning, then enter Phase 2 where everyone shoots whatever targets are in their range band. Interestingly, enemies got to take the first turn on one map, while the player went first on the boss stage. The map shown off (world 2) had 10 individual battles, and once one fight was over all units were automatically repaired seemingly for free.

Economy seems a little like Azur Lane's: grey cubes (couldn't read the kanji) are used to deploy units/enter battle, and Parts are earned on victory and presumably used to build new girls. There were also a lot of listed items on the battle preview stage, which drop at random and are probably used to upgrade/limit break units.

God I want to play this so bad. Wish I'd used a JP email account to get into the CBT.

I can't help but laugh and think of some mahou shoujo term when I read that. Also taking German names converted to kana is a nightmare to figure out the proper romanization. Honestly found the kanji name easier to remember.

I'm starting to get burned out of playing games in foreign languages, especially when most stuff gets a localization these days. It sucks so much not understanding shit or having all your friends and people you know play on the English server so you can't play with them.

There's always some exceptions like AL where I'm glad to be playing on JP due to how bad the EN version is but it feels like most localizations have come such a long way where I feel punished for being impatient and not waiting for the eventual English version.

It all comes with positives and negatives if you're an EOP. Most glaring negative would be that, in the case of games like PriConne for example, you couldn't understand the story and that's a huge part of the game. But as far as general gameplay goes you can get by in 99% of games without understanding a word.

EOP versions on the other hand have SIGNIFICANTLY worse communities (/vg/ itself is living proof of this), more often than not there's problems with the team and/or the translation (filled with memes, shit being made up, shit being changed for no reason, the team are SEA monkeys who can't even speak English etc.), often times things are changed in the backend (rates, shop pricing, making certain things super limited to promote spending etc.) and if they aren't one of the handful of flavour of the month games they end up shutting down after a year. Maybe two. Not that there's no risk of that playing the native version but generally they tend to stick around for much longer and generally have much better support for the game over global versions. The whole ">global" meme exists for a reason.

Don't be fooled into this line of thinking. You are never too old to learn something new. Go grab yourself a blank workbook and just start working your way through the guide here on /jp/. Even doing a handful of cards per day will get you there in the end. The biggest hurdle is just sitting down and committing to starting in the first place.

I think I played jp FGO for more than two years and I've been gradually losing interest because of two things back then. The first one being the fact that I couldn't use most of the servants I saved for and rolled anywhere. Because you always prioritize characters who can either clear stages fast, or be helpful in a challenging content. Everyone in-between is just irrelevant. And the second thing is that there's no spark/guaranteed system in the game. If I missed out on a servant during his/her rate-up there's almost no way I could get it again considering how many limited characters they like to roll out. Fuck DW, Aniplex and people who whale, thinking the game is fine the way it is.

I think my longest run was probably RoB. Gradually lost interest, then eventually quit. And then the English version ended up closing not long after, anyway.

I really hate what they've done to Rei in Re:Dive. In the previous work she was by far the most go-getter of the main trio and brazen about her interest in kishi-kun. She was the one taking initiative to go out on dates with him while Yui was too beta to do so and HIyori was too dense to realize she was in love, and getting jealous over kishi-kun spending time with Hiyori instead of her.

Now she's just playing second fiddle to Yui like all the other girls.

I think I'm having a love and hate relationship with Honkai impact lately.
Currency gain in the game is really low in the game compared to others and most of the newer character released need their full set of exclusive weapon + exclusive stigmata set to be good or useful at end game instead of being able to have some gacha alternatives. Barely any good F2P alternatives because F2P builds are magnitudes worse than gacha builds and there's a world of difference with some characters instead of being somewhat worse but still workable/usable without feeling like you're terribly gimping yourself.

Doesn't really help that I started on the Japanese server of things because I liked the game and didn't want to wait for a localization to start playing so now that the English server(s) turned out pretty decent for once, I can't help but feel somewhat bitter over the fact i'm stuck on a server where I can't understand a thing unless I decide to abandon everything I've built and got since the launch of the game just to be able to understand things.

Then around the time when the burger drama happened the first time I just grew disinterested in the game - I wasn't involved in that, I just recall the time period. I've not 'quit' the game per se, I still have it installed and I'll still open it once a month to see if there's anything to catch my eye but there never is, just more pointless grinding. I'd love to get an Arcarum cutie but fuck that shit, I've not even started on the grind thus I don't even want to start and outside of that there's just nothing else that interests me. I guess grinding for the sake of grinding just to grind some more grew old to me. I still regularly fap to the cast though, some top tier designs.

Depends entirely on where you can source the best discussion, unfortunately. With foreign games you tend to find the more dedicated users and will get some decent discussion for either gameplay and/or the story, no matter where you go. With global games that's entirely up in the air and it's generally down to taking the lesser evil. If it's a super popular game, like FGO Alter, then /vg/ is completely out. Reddit discussion can either be silly waifu dumping, epeen stroking or it can have actual discussion so that's hit or miss too. Discord channels also suffer the same issue where it's user controlled so it can either be a cesspool of faggotry or it can have at least some decent discussion in at least one of the channels. There's no real winner, you just need to lurk around and get lucky. In some cases you may be fucked as all of those options may be shit but that's just how it is.

That particular discussion started because the EN playerbase is obsessed with the phrase "Phoenix is the hottest thing ever". The EN team made that up to replace another phrase used in a previous event and now that phrase was reused in a new one, but their made up version didn't fit the scene so they had to rewrite it entirely. The new scene has a different tone and goes against the character's personality.

This character, Fuka, burns her own memories to power up so she needs someone she can absolutely trust and have a relationship with no lies. In the main story there is someone like that for her and in events the player's self insert fills that role. This is why the original phrase, the self insert telling her he hasn't lied to her, is very important. She was left behind accidentally during the previous event and now she manipulated the self insert to go back home, so she tells him she had to lie to him and feels extremely bad about it. Meanwhile in the EN version she acts all sassy and doesn't show any remorse at all.

And in the first place, her being known as Phoenix is completely wrong. The EN team went with Phoenix because hurr bird + fire, but actually she's known as Jingwei, a girl who was reborn as a bird after drowning and went on a quest to fill up the sea so no one dies like she did. This bird fits her personality perfectly because Jingwei is the personification of determination and perseverance against impossible odds, just like how Fuka has been protecting the world from an unbeatable enemy for thousands of years so no one else has to suffer like she did when she lost everything.

I can only feel bad for the people who have to read the story in English and miss on tiny but nice details like those.

It's an old problem, localizations have been changing things forever. Think about it in regards to subs vs dubs, a lot of dubs do exactly what you just described but there's a large amount of people who enjoy that and prefer them over literal subs because it's more "fun". They're the target audience for these games, they're filled with dumb memes because they're trying to appeal to dumb memesters. That's why learning Japanese is more important for mobile games than with anime if you care about getting a proper translation instead of a localization, unless you're playing something big like FGO you can't expect to get a fansub equivalent.

Ilya is a PVP/CB magic unit that needs a lot of baby sitting. For PVE clearing you just want to make a really good physical team like Jun/Nozomi for tank, Three damage dealers and a healer or another damage dealer.

If you have NY yui or Vshizu then you can just laugh all the way to the latest world as long as you're properly geared (and maybe even if you're not) but if you don't then you'll need to put more effort into it.

If I'm looking at the same list as you, it's because everyone below their S tier only has niche uses at best. Regular Yui sees use as an okay general content healer, in dungeon boss stall parties and as a backup healer for things that limit character use like Luna Tower. Plus, you can get to two of her nodes relatively early and she has 4 of them total, so for newer players she's a pretty easy, solid investment. If you compare her to all available healers though, she's pretty outclassed by most of them at this point, even Chika, because of her lack of secondary utility. But for things that just need a team-wide burst heal she gets the job done.

Yes. EP1 was extremely generic to the point even the nips too were saying everyone should skip it. EP2 is when the story starts for real. EP2's story (and future EP3) could have been very well the story of a SO console game. EP2 is 10 times longer than EP1, fully voiced and has some anime cutscenes as well. JP right now has a gacha for 2018 wedding characters (Clair, Precis, Reimi and Fayt) and 2019 (Mirage and Cliff, maybe 2 more this Thursday). If you like any of them go ahead and reroll for them, none are game changing. After wedding we should be getting some permanent characters and then the Summer event. You'll have +100k gems by the time Summer comes in case you want to save for swimsuits.

Global has maids now (Clair and Nel) and they'll probably get next 2018 wedding characters. Maids are nothing special and while the anniversary is coming up you don't have to start during it to get whatever free stuff they'll give so you can start now or wait for wedding characters.

There was this mobage called Black Rose Suspects. It had the weirdest correlation in this aspect I've ever seen.

The main plot was about a bunch of characters and a private detective investigating things surrounding a certain Hotel. It's all pure detective mystery with secret organizations and stuff. The only time the monster popped up was at the beginning of the game and it was revealed that some character have powers to fight it. And that's it.

However all of the stages in the game feature dozens of such monsters popping up in every possible location. People fused to monsters act as bosses and some side content had your party descend into some abandoned facility filled with some other weird shit. Yet none of this is explained. Like WHEN does all this happen? Even character specific episodes are all about their private life or relationships with other characters. They don't even tell you how they got the powers to fight paranormal.

Aside from Misaki's usual tsundere responses most of the talk is very tame and doesn't provoke romance or embarassment from the girls.

Ideally, you would like to reroll for Muimi. Christina is good too. Anniversary pretty much guaranteed a Muimi so you had the freedom to go for Christina but you'll have to settle for Solo muimi if we get a prinfest soon.
If we don't, the best start you can possibly get is Jun + Makoto or solo Makoto. Nozomi is great too even if she's farmable because having her ready to use is better than waiting a month to have her ready to use but I wouldn't specifically reroll for her because of being easily farmable.

Always save. As newfags you don't have PrinFest limiteds and they are the biggest boon you can get so you'd ideally want to save for that. Muimi at the very least makes a lot of content trivial and Christina is just overall nice to have. The regular gacha isn't worth touching since most of the characters can be grinded for anyway in that pool. Basically just save up, assess whether the new character is worth it (Summer slut is 9.5 and one of the best selfish attackers in the game currently) then blow your load.
