It's a shame that Danbooru is the only site on which people actually tag things. Gelbooru mostly just has a series and character name. Pixiv has that in addition to people tagging stuff with english names, japanese names, short versions of the english and japanese names, all at complete random. Twitter only has tags in theory because artists there are mostly just uploading their drawing randomly with no tag or description at all in the middle of 400 gacha, cat or food related tweets so that no one can ever find it.

I held out for like 10 years out of principle but gave Lowtax my 10 dollars a little while back. Between the more robust tagging system and being the only place around where things actually get translated, it was worth it.

If you find an artist you like on the boorus, it's a lot easier to go straight to their Twitter and sift through their media tweets, i.e twitter.com/[artist-name-here]/media . Pixiv would be good in theory but I don't feel like making an account and they went really overboard with the whole "please login to see this content" shit where they don't allow you to view anything that could even be considered remotely lewd like swimsuit pictures and stuff.

Danbooru is really good for translated stuff though. If you're browsing the art of a popular artist and it contains Japanese text, run it through Saucenao and check if it's uploaded on Danbooru, there's a good chance someone has translated it.

One of the big reasons why twitter is so bad for art is because the search function is essentially useless since no artist tags anything. If you want to search for any character, be prepared to find almost nothing but pictures of figures, cosplayers or posts made by role playing accounts.

It's not great but I just seatch one artist's artwork at a time (i.e from:[insert-artist-here]) and then a date modifier or particular Japanese term if the specific artist writes a blurb to acxompany their work. Honestly, not wanting a Pixiv account for porn is solely on my own autistic ideological grounds, I just feel like I have so many accounts everywhere, why do I need an account just to circumvent a mature content filter when I already have a lot more sources. Obviously you should weigh the pros and cons yourself, this is just my choice.

This is a good strategy too. You can often find these people in the comments. If they comment frequently on your favorite artists' work, chances are they have very similar taste to you.

The thing I hate is pixiv artist just deleting their accounts or images randomly so you're forced to go to boorus to find them.

Because Danbooru has a simple design, and the tagging system is great. You can't upload anything, if you don't add enough tags.
