These look great.

SMT- First Person Dungeon Crawling could work since most places have gimmicks already.
Shining Needle Castle would be upside down, SDM is a western mansion with many floors and the boss battle happens at the roof, Bamboo Forest is one huge maze, Yukari's Domain is filled with portals.

Applying the weaknesses and strengths of Gensokyo-Residents would also be not too difficult.
I'm guessing Cirno and Letty are weak to fire, Remilia is weak to holy, Meiling has physical resisdence. Eirin is immune to Status Effects.

What would a story including SMT and 2hu look like? Can you fuse demons? Do angels appear? Who would be the law, chaos and neutral representative? Chaos sounds like Yukari and neutral Byakuren? or Miko? Is there even anything lawful in Gensoyko except for the Yama?
So much potential, a lot to daydream about!

I'm sad there are so little SMT-fangames.

I have thought about it, actually.

If I were to make 2hu SMT game, it would be about dystopian future Kyoto where suddenly Gensokyo and Kyoto have merged and turning it into chaotic city infested with youkai. Moreover, all named Touhou characters have "died" and reduced into scattered, mysterious fragments because the merge happened after Gensokyo was destroyed by unknown force, and the merge was some kind of last defense mechanism to preserve it that somehow caused Maribel to be put into coma and disappeared somewhere. So now you play as Renko, aided by Sumireko's ghost, to save Maribel and collect the fragments that can turn into 2hus that will become your ally, as well as deciding the fate of Kyoto and Gensokyo.

Since the demons are real 2hus it would be weird if there are many of them that could be recruited and discarded any time.
So I rather have them as obtainable item than intractable enemies (the enemies are generic youkai instead). The fragments are simply material to summon 2hus and can be fused to summon new 2hus, or whatever it is so it wouldn't be what I said above.
Maybe it takes away demon negotiation that's integral within MegaTen, but I just find the circumstances with 2hus weird.

Miko doesn't seem to have that little care for humans to offer them to Youkai by creating a chaotic, lawless society.
She seem more like the type who would like to rule and "become as gods", be the invisible administrator behind the scenes, recreating the world as she sees fit than put everyone in a world of strength where only the best may survive.

Pic related is an excerpt of the rulebook of Lamentations of the Flame Princess that I've found to be the best describtion of Law and Chaos.

Following this describtion with my own experience with the series I would categorize them as follows:
Law: Reimu and the Moriya Shrine, Yuyuko, Youmo, Komachi. Shiki, Lunar Capital(they have laws and principles)
Neutral: Myouren Temple (except for Nue and Kogasa?), Magic Users, Eientei, Humans and fairies(fairies don't really care about anything like that)
Chaos: Scarlet Devil Mansion, Taoists, Youkai, Former Hell

I think a crossover game retelling HM would work well. The player could be a magic user who can summon demons and she can join a faction and fight everyone else

Although in the original SMT Lao Tzu himself appears as the Neutral rep and stresses the importance of not leaning too far on either chaos or law. The entire Neutral church seems to be Taoist as well.

To be fair though I can definitely see Miko and Seiga being a bit cheeky and acting chaotic while in pursuit of their goals.

What would being neutral in Gensokyo mean? That you try to find harmony and peace between Youkai and humans? Because if so, Byakuren seems more along the lines of Neutral than Miko.

I think ZUN had quite a huge misconception about Taoism when creating TD.
In HM Miko has lines such as "Might is Right" and "Worship Me" but still says that she will bring hope to humanity.

This is cool and all but I think SMT has its own different definition for Law and Chaos that suits its narrative of power struggle between tyrant God and lawless demons. In fact, I think the term Law and Chaos are only coined by western community and in some games including earlier ones refer them as Messian and Gaean.

Now that I think about it more, Taoist characters in 2hu seem more focused on longevity for selfish reasons then the actual practices of the faith, and then there is also the not-so-tao-but-tao characters like Kasen who seem pretty chaotic.

Gotta say that Taishi and her gang probably flicker between light and neutral chaos.
