But here is my very brief guess about the lore, correct me if i am wrong.

So, there is this girl called reimu that is a shrine maiden of a god she doesnt know thag kills yokai no matter how human they can be, is friends with a magician called marisa (who is somewhat of a player 2.) And the devil vampire girl called remilia unleashed a red mist that covered the sun so she didnt have to bother waiting for night to go out and has a brainwashed maid that was once a vampire huntress called sakuya on her beck and call that is also a DIO parody.

There is a random idiot ice fairy called cirno around that does nothing, one girl that controls puppets and is neutral and based on that song, could be in love with Marisa, there is a random rabbit girl and yokai eat humans that arrive in gensokyo.
And no one is gay.
