Doesn't matter who they sign, it's how Gedo books things. I'm an Okada mark and even I think him being the true only ace to rule everything is boring. He defeated everyone and their choice to have him face for Dominion is god damn Jericho. Even if Ibushi wins G1 and beats him, I doubt that reign will last. It's Okada's show, everyone else is secondary, Naito's chance to be the ace has past, Ishii will never win the belt, and they will never give guys like Takagi, Sanada or Evil a chance. Also Jay White is too forced. Mox is cool but it doesn't change things.

I barely watch Joshi. I caught a Joshi show while I was Japan and it was fun, but I don't follow enough to get into it.

As someone who's pretty new to NJPW (I've watched random Ishii and Naito matches in the past, and decided to really take the plunge and start watching more when Moxley joined), are you saying Okada has basically become late 00s/early 10s "Super Cena" John Cena?

Okada isn't as bad as super Cena. He at least sells, makes his opponents look good, can lose sometimes in believable manners, and he has a good moveset. What's his problem is that he literally beat all challengers besides a few names. His matches are a bit stale because they become formulaic to be guaranteed 4-5 star matches. Like I said, he makes his opponents look great but he also always needs 20 minutes to beat them. It's just gotten stale at this point. The only real similarity to Super Cena is that he is the undisputed face of the company.

There's still a lot to like, just think of the main title as a prop and watch for the fun matches on the rest of the card. The G1 should be interesting this year with Mox and KENTA in, just hoping it's not ruined by bullshit like the bullet club run ins like last year.
Still hoping my dudes Ishii, Goto and Juice make it some day but it's probably too late for Ishii and Goto and way too early for Juice.
