/jp/ exists because Touhou exists.
Touhou dominated the site along with Rozen maiden since 2003. It only took 4-5 years of spam with 2008 being the tipping point and /jp/ being created. moot said for /jp/ to be for all the other shit /a/ was being clogged with but it was specifically the Touhou spam that drove him mad. However, this was not a good idea because even today it is argued what the board exists for and the true answer is that it was made to house the touhou spam but moot named it Japan/Random or some shit like that until it became what you see now. /jp/ was always the touhou board and the entire site was happy to see it gone as referenced in the /a/ post above from the /jp/ archived screenshot.

When I say glad to see it gone, I meant that they were glad to see it have a board to itself almost like a containment board for touhou, which it partly is but it split off as of recent and the Touhou you find on /jp/ is not the same Touhou you would find on /a/, /b/, /v/, /vg/, or even [s4s] with the Kogasa shitpost being most popular from that board.

For that to happen would require oldfags that were on the board prior. I bet you the anons who made those frames were made by fags from /jp/ and maybe one or two other boards. Yukkuri isn't posted often outside of /jp/ and Flanfly is EXCLUSIVELY /jp/. Of course this would be accepted because those who viewed it either knew little, respected it, or didn't care for the reference and history and congratulated the effort. Also, it was a redraw of the Azumanga Daioh Opening. It's perfect.

Not only that but not a single shot halfway into the intro is representative of /a/ and it consists of older series that not everyone indulges or even fucking talks about now because they either do not know anything about them or they forgot all about it.

I know I'm taking the piss out of /a/ right now but making an opening like that is much more than just being accepted. When it is made by old or "seasoned" posters that have been there a while and waded through the mountains of trash of nowaday's /a/ and actually participated in the project, it doesn't surprise me because it's all oldshit. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's all memes of old with the only one I can see as new being that shitty loli in the far right at 1:26 and Kana from Dragon Maid. Both popular but overshadowed.

That highlights the good thing about /a/ but it shows nothing on the bad side. In a way, it's almost like /g/ with the Nyaa shit.
They can't make a OS to save their fucking lives but they had a site with who knows how fucking much data worth of torrents in under a day and a full recovery of all that had been presumably lost with https://nyaa.se with little time and with no warning of it going down days or even months prior.

It's a good redraw but I doubt anyone new or anymore than 5 at maximum participated given some of the featured series and memes presented.

I am surprised and kind of glad that this was made because it tell me aside from some of the threads I saw that died before bump limit that there are some posters there that aren't shit and I feel a little bad that their frequented board has degraded in such a fashion.
