It is an interesting work with some interesting things, but it's not an advocate of much of anything beyond "freedom of cultural exchange" and it's certainly not fucking GAY.

Yeah unfortunately it's par for the course for a lot western fanbase of foreign media. Not exactly as 2019 as this article shows, but in general people just LOVE to view them in the hypothetical extremes that fit their ideals and narratives and not what they actually are in logical truth.

Perhaps it's just a simple case of the grass being always greener or just need to identify with something vastly different to what they are accustom too regardless of their ideals/thoughts being actually compatible or not, but this most likely off topic to this board.

You need a profile confirmation or a character's confirmation, otherwise it's easy to figure Miko was a woman who pretended to be a man. Personally, I believe she was a he, but there's no guarantee thst's true.

I don't agree. Miko's background is one of the darker ones. She's basically a villain who got away with everything and laughed about it a thousand years later. She threw her country into war for her own selfish ends, and though you could argue she did it for the greater good, she mostly did it so she could fuck off forever and abandon all responsibility.

Her potential change of form from male to female could be completely nothing, or could be something. She isn't "explicitly trans" though, that's for sure. It's ambiguous, and even if you want to say she went from male to female it could be argued that she isn't a transexual as she hasn't actually changed her body. It's more like a soul transfer.

I'd honestly say yes. Touhou music allowed my autism to overpower my ADD and complete assignments under a time crunch in high school. I learned better self-control and discipline by taking my mind off of other things and just concentrating on the work at hand and the music. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Touhou literally let me graduate high school. Before finding Touhou music, my lack of focus and poor memory plagued me constantly, and I did not know how to deal with it. As it turns out, dope BGM is a solution.

In addition, characters like Youmu have served as a good role model for my work ethic, as has the challenging nature of the games. They've strongly reinforced some of my preexisting traits, giving me even more reasons to push on and keep trying harder. Youmu also inspired me to pick up fencing, which has resulted in me making new friends, many of which are fellow weebs.

Touhou has been nothing but a positive influence on my life. Well, unless you consider the obsession over it unhealthy, that is...

While that might be because she didn't like hearing too much, I wanted to emphasize that part of her character as much as possible.
