I've a folder full of camera links that are sorted by prefecture, along with weather radar so I can keep track of any significant storms/happenings relatively easily.

That Omiya bound Keihin Tohoku train either over shot the platform or had to do an emergency stop. It was stationary for a minute or two before moving on.

If you search raibu kamera in katakana it basically brings up all the Japanese live cams on youtube. I then have made a specific account to save and favorite them all which I then login to on my TV and watch my cams.

Kabukicho is my favourite though and sadly it doesn't seem it's coming back.

Same, mate. It was very pleasant up there, and it wasn't too far away from Aizu-Wakamatsu, although it's a fairly small city. Goodness knows what it's like in winter, though. I wonder if everyone gets snowed in.

Still some from the Minamisoma area around, but i haven't managed to extract any live camera streams from them in my (Admittedly very quick) source code diving, appears to run a different streaming system than the Futaba site did and is just serving static jpgs on a refresh unfortunately.

And I promise I will finally update the github next week! I will go through the last few threads and get all the still alive links and make some categories for the cameras.

Also the people that actually record stuff, please write me a guide that I can put on there.
How to record normally and how to do time lapses. If no one writes something I guess I will learn it myself, I am sure it won't take me that long. Maybe add something else if there is something else useful.
I know there was a guide in the old pastebin, but I would like something a bit more sophisticated and detailed. Similar to the guides I have already posted, so anyone can figure it out.

I have no idea how to use any of the command prompt parameters, do you use a template for Youtube specifically?

Damn, it's been a while since i set this shit up myself, but will try to make some sense of it.

From the MPC-HC guide in the github link:
>Download the .exe streamlink version: https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/releases/latest
>Install it with every option selected.

Then, ignore the steps setting it up to use MPC-HC, it will try to load VLC automatically.

>Now press the start button, write "streamlink.exe https://youtu.be/vYzRrH78JkQ best" (without the quotes) and press enter.

>Alternatively you can make yourself a .bat file (a file that will quickly run the stream from any directory.
>Make a "New Text Document.txt" file. Open it. Write down this (edit release folder directory to match your own):

@echo
streamlink.exe https://youtu.be/vYzRrH78JkQ best
@echo off

>From the notepad menu select File -> Save as. Change "Save as type" to "All Files (*.*)"
>Change the file name to Bessho.bat
>Press the "Save" button.

This is a once setup step and to load the stream you just have to run the .bat file.
Might have to edit it once in a while as the youtube stream url changes though.

Then when it comes to setting VLC up for recording you are probably better off googling for it, it's not hard at all it's just a pain to describe the steps needed to get to the right part of the settings.

I hope this post at least make some sense of it.

>> No.21678118

>>21678096
Also wort to note is that i recommend setting the stream resolution manually in the .bat
So instead of:
@echo
streamlink.exe *YoutubeURL* best
@echo off

You do:
@echo
streamlink.exe *YoutubeURL* 720p
@echo off

IIRC streamlink doesn't like streams over 1080p, but 1080/720/480 works just fine.

>Are you nerds telling me that you might be able to stream one of those cameras?
It is possible, just not very probable.

Go look at
https://www.insecam.org/
For thousands of cameras transmitting live for the whole internet to see, either intentionally, due to faulty configurations or because of publicly known security flaws or backdoor credentials.

To be able to pull something like that off the camera would have to either:

1. Be intentionally provided for viewing (Unlikely)
2. Have been configured wrong or left with default configuration. (Always a possibility)
3. Have previously been compromised by a security flaw and had a backdoor image stream URL or credentials put in place (Very unlikely, more common on consumer grade cameras)
4. Have factory default hardcoded stream URLs or credentials that bypass security entirely. (Always a possibility)
5. Been factory reset due to lack of physical security of the device. (Unlikely)

That is provided the cameras are connected to the internet in the first place, and you somehow manage to locate the camera on the internet, geolocation of IP ranges in Japan is even less accurate than most other countries for some reason, and might not even give you the right prefecture in some cases.

Looks like they just moved one of the older Panasonic cameras they used to have for some of the temporary shrine streams.
Too bad, that also means that audio is almost certainly not going to return either, the old MJPG Panasonics are really, really bad at audio, if you somehow manage to get it working at all. If you keep it running more than a few minutes it get very badly de-synced with the video.

Okay, I updated VLC And told OBS to record that window as it played the stream.
I'm running into an issue though, there's no browser as a resource middleman but it's still on a linear memory increase. Every second it rises - I've had it on 14 minutes and it's already at 1,740,309 usage and counting. This will lead to instability very soon.

Maybe the reason is because it never attempts to split files but just adds onto one forever.

I think you have been at this for too long from the viewpoint of using a screen recorder that you have tunnel-visioned on it.

VLC has recording capability built in, dump OBS, it seems to be giving you nothing but trouble anyway.

In VLC:
View -> Advanced Controls -> Look for the record button.

Setting up recording output directory:
Tools -> Preferences -> Input&codecs and Record directory or filename.

Remember to press Save and restart VLC after that to make sure changes are enabled.

Also, I am not the kind who looks through insecam much, I try to just search youtube with the term "カメラ" or "ライブカメラ", and then there's stuff like the Ueda Cable Vision site that hosts unlisted youtube streams such as my beloved shrine. I can't say. I did a virtual tour of the area on Google Maps and it looks like a bumfuck boring ass place with nothing to offer, the shrine itself isn't visually spectacular nor full of amazing craftsmanship like countless others around the country, and it's also fairly small. Yet, I'm drawn to it all the same. Might be terminal autism.
The coolest thing for me there is that there are twin zelkova trees dated back more than 800 years, and they've survived a ton of storms and a great fire too. I can't find any vintage postcard photos that show the old process but most of the place was wooden before the vermillion-colored building materials were used. I contacted a guy who films with his GoPro in the Ueda area and he's going to do a walkthrough of it eventually.
>anime and idol worship
I've been coming to /jp/ for years but never had interest in much of that. We're not really wanted around these parts - if you aren't here to talk 2hu or idols, you're told to go to /trv/ to hang out with the sexpats instead.

that's a real shame. I wish there was a way to discuss japanese culture without all of that. Maybe disregard a bit of that. While I was typing that up, the file was actually doing its own background processing upon me force-closing a frozen VLC. A few minutes later, i have 5 hours, 59 minutes, and 54 seconds of video. Comparing it to the live video's shadow positioning, it looks like it froze for the last 30 minutes after that.

>> No.21728070

>>21727582
If you are using streamlink the stream will always drop after 6 hours, but sometimes (rarely, seen it 4-5 times) VLC will freeze on close like that.
I haven't been able to find any common circumstances for it so not sure if it can be avoided, doesn't seem to have anything to do with filesize or memory which was my first guess.

I remember it readjusting every once in a while which made timelapse impossible.

It can be.
They still get a ton of typhoon activity, I'll be keeping tabs on it (and many other places) as the summer continues. This rainy season has been very mild until just recently, so at least they don't go into it after many heat waves.

I have no video footage of this typhoon after it started. The channel put a message on the screen

around an hour into it, when it stopped being gentle rain. Also, i was very busy at work during that time, so I didn't get a good look at anything else during that time. This year will be different and I'm posting whatever I find that sufficiently captures wind/rain (especially any with sound)

Wow Kabukicho never coming back, my favorite of all time. Glad I took the photos I did, guess I'll need to find a new camera to screenshot me on. So many awesome scenes of life in Japan played out on the camera. Whether it was the old guy up early to struggle to bring his groceries home, the tauts, the nanpa guys and the girls that couldn't even walk somehow trying to get home at 3am.

the sun took care of it not long after. It was actually hard to find even a three day span of snow on the camera because of how temperate that region is. The water got ice at night and it melted by mid day, every time, except for right around Christmas when a little island formed for the ducks to chill on.
