In general i just watch for the views and sounds of a place i will probably never get to visit in person.

Also it seems this place is the only place i can still post without getting banned for some reason.
Got banned for Global #2 twice in the last month because retards can't fucking read and think i have admitted to being underage. (And before i get banned again for ban dodging both were appealed, put down the ban-hammer)

Looks like the webcam network around Futaba, Namie and a lot of the rest of the former Fukushima "Zone" has been taken off the internet, even the homepage is 404´d for quite some time now. (http://www.futabagun.jp/futaba_camera)
Still some from the Minamisoma area around, but i haven't managed to extract any live camera streams from them in my (Admittedly very quick) source code diving, appears to run a different streaming system than the Futaba site did and is just serving static jpgs on a refresh unfortunately.
You would think that in 2019 we would be past the age of 320x240 jpg streams, but then again
there are also people out there still connecting old 2000s mjpg IP cameras with pages of documented vulnerabilities unauthenticated to the internet every day.

How to record normally and how to do time lapses. If no one writes something I guess I will learn it myself, I am sure it won't take me that long. Maybe add something else if there is something else useful.

Damn, it's been a while since i set this shit up myself, but will try to make some sense of it.

From the MPC-HC guide in the github link:
>Download the .exe streamlink version: https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/releases/latest
>Install it with every option selected.

Then, ignore the steps setting it up to use MPC-HC, it will try to load VLC automatically.

>Now press the start button, write "streamlink.exe https://youtu.be/vYzRrH78JkQ best" (without the quotes) and press enter.

>Alternatively you can make yourself a .bat file (a file that will quickly run the stream from any directory.
>Make a "New Text Document.txt" file. Open it. Write down this (edit release folder directory to match your own):

streamlink.exe https://youtu.be/vYzRrH78JkQ best
@echo off

>From the notepad menu select File -> Save as. Change "Save as type" to "All Files (*.*)"
>Change the file name to Bessho.bat
>Press the "Save" button.

This is a once setup step and to load the stream you just have to run the .bat file.
Might have to edit it once in a while as the youtube stream url changes though.

Then when it comes to setting VLC up for recording you are probably better off googling for it, it's not hard at all it's just a pain to describe the steps needed to get to the right part of the settings.

I hope this post at least make some sense of it.

>> No.21678118

Also wort to note is that i recommend setting the stream resolution manually in the .bat
So instead of:
streamlink.exe *YoutubeURL* best
@echo off

You do:
streamlink.exe *YoutubeURL* 720p
@echo off

IIRC streamlink doesn't like streams over 1080p, but 1080/720/480 works just fine.

>Are you nerds telling me that you might be able to stream one of those cameras?
It is possible, just not very probable.

Go look at
For thousands of cameras transmitting live for the whole internet to see, either intentionally, due to faulty configurations or because of publicly known security flaws or backdoor credentials.

To be able to pull something like that off the camera would have to either:

1. Be intentionally provided for viewing (Unlikely)
2. Have been configured wrong or left with default configuration. (Always a possibility)
3. Have previously been compromised by a security flaw and had a backdoor image stream URL or credentials put in place (Very unlikely, more common on consumer grade cameras)
4. Have factory default hardcoded stream URLs or credentials that bypass security entirely. (Always a possibility)
5. Been factory reset due to lack of physical security of the device. (Unlikely)

That is provided the cameras are connected to the internet in the first place, and you somehow manage to locate the camera on the internet, geolocation of IP ranges in Japan is even less accurate than most other countries for some reason, and might not even give you the right prefecture in some cases.

Yeah, probably like 2017 old.
Looks like they just moved one of the other cameras that used to be one of the temporary shrine streams.
Looks like they just moved one of the older Panasonic cameras they used to have for some of the temporary shrine streams.
Too bad, that also means that audio is almost certainly not going to return either, the old MJPG Panasonics are really, really bad at audio, if you somehow manage to get it working at all. If you keep it running more than a few minutes it get very badly de-synced with the video.
If you want the raw stream to run in a media player just remove the /cam at the end and add:
For some reason it defaults to 800x600 though, and 10fps is slightly optimistic.

VLC has recording capability built in, dump OBS, it seems to be giving you nothing but trouble anyway.

View -> Advanced Controls -> Look for the record button.

Setting up recording output directory:
Tools -> Preferences -> Input&codecs and Record directory or filename.

Remember to press Save and restart VLC after that to make sure changes are enabled.

Might be worth adding to the github as well, not much of a guide but there's really not much more to it.

Well that's kinda neat. The bitrate is just right for this type of stream too.
Do you know of a way to set up a parameter so that I open VLC And it automatically also loads a URL by default?

I want decent Osaka night cam.
I know it isn't a stream, but Rambalac's videos are always good for immersing in city life. I don't recommend bulk downloading though, he uploads in 4k 60fps.

Also, I am not the kind who looks through insecam much, I try to just search youtube with the term "カメラ" or "ライブカメラ", and then there's stuff like the Ueda Cable Vision site that hosts unlisted youtube streams such as my beloved shrine. I keep bookmarks not on the actual video but of the channels hosting them, that way I never lose it if they re-host.

I was going to put a webm of some snowfall here.
But, it is better at regular speed, and the music that was playing during the recording process kind of fits anyway.

I'm oddly obsessed with it in the same way train otaku are. I want to seriously visit Ueda one day just to walk through it.

I have a folder of around 500 pictures from Twitter, great shots of the gate area (since you can't photograph the inner grounds past the donation box)

The duck that lives in the shrine travels around with 3 or 4 others, and it's around 33 years old.

>> No.21715185

what about the shrine is so appealing to you? I enjoy looking at it from an aesthetic point of view, and I enjoy the trivia about it on a fairly basic level, but it seems to mean much more to you.
Also, I have to say this thread is great, I expected more appreciation/observation of Japanese culture and aesthetics on /jp/, but most of this board just seems to be anime and idol worship.

>> No.21715198

I can't say. I did a virtual tour of the area on Google Maps and it looks like a bumfuck boring ass place with nothing to offer, the shrine itself isn't visually spectacular nor full of amazing craftsmanship like countless others around the country, and it's also fairly small. Yet, I'm drawn to it all the same. Might be terminal autism.
The coolest thing for me there is that there are twin zelkova trees dated back more than 800 years, and they've survived a ton of storms and a great fire too. I can't find any vintage postcard photos that show the old process but most of the place was wooden before the vermillion-colored building materials were used. I contacted a guy who films with his GoPro in the Ueda area and he's going to do a walkthrough of it eventually.
>anime and idol worship
I've been coming to /jp/ for years but never had interest in much of that. We're not really wanted around these parts - if you aren't here to talk 2hu or idols, you're told to go to /trv/ to hang out with the sexpats instead.

>> No.21715265

whats the channel of the gopro guy? I'm always looking for more vids like that.

>if you aren't here to talk 2hu or idols, you're told to go to /trv/ to hang out with the sexpats instead
that's a real shame. I wish there was a way to discuss japanese culture without all of that. I love reading Japanese historical texts and learning about the crafting of various items in day-to-day japanese use, but it doesn't seem this is a good board to discuss that kinda thing. These threads are cool though, I'll stick around.

Also there are actual culture threads but they get archived quickly. I just don't think it's a nice place for that sort of discussion, but I haven't a clue where else one would go while still having it in English.
I'm not much into train stations like the others, but I can appreciate sightings of luxury models and the like.

We're almost into typhoon season. That'll be interesting.

If you meant to respond to another post, that one's in the middle of Nagano.

Also, I stress tested the VLC recording feature. It seems like going past 4GB filesize (which can take an arbitrary amount of time depending on how much visual changes there are frame to frame) is when it starts to end up with an aborted encoding/file that won't load.
anything before that is smooth, so I should be able to record up to 3 hours on average.

>> No.21727582

Maybe disregard a bit of that. While I was typing that up, the file was actually doing its own background processing upon me force-closing a frozen VLC. A few minutes later, i have 5 hours, 59 minutes, and 54 seconds of video. Comparing it to the live video's shadow positioning, it looks like it froze for the last 30 minutes after that.

>> No.21728070

If you are using streamlink the stream will always drop after 6 hours, but sometimes (rarely, seen it 4-5 times) VLC will freeze on close like that.
I haven't been able to find any common circumstances for it so not sure if it can be avoided, doesn't seem to have anything to do with filesize or memory which was my first guess.

the sun took care of it not long after. It was actually hard to find even a three day span of snow on the camera because of how temperate that region is.
